Vrish, In Gujarati's we have Jaya-Parvati vrat for 5 days. Supposed to be done by Unmarried girls. On the first day we worship both Shivji & Parvati & begin the vrat.
All the Shiv temples have Parvati's idol, She is his Shakti, without her even Shiv-puja is incompelete.

During any of the pujas, like Durga Puja (which is #1 for me), I'm pretty serious about observance, and same for any other religious occasions. But aside from that, rest of the year, I'm more or less agnostic. That may sound strange coming from someone who's very interested in mythos, but honestly, religion doesn't dominate my life except for such sacred occasions.

Thanks for ur comment..its nice to see.. that u have ur spiritual moments too.. readin of a Durga pooja makes me very happy..=]

Ok, now I am gonna answer in detail.

To say the truth, since my childhood I never showed interest in going to temples, doing pujas or anything like that. This may sound funny but this show has really changed my perspective of god. I never ever knew about Shivji so much until I saw this show and came to this forum.
One of the grtest temple of lord Shiva, Pashupatinath, is only 15 minutes away frm my home. My mom since my childhood always took me to the temple to pray or to do rudri. I used to find it little boring. But now that I have come to know so much about Shivji I feel really happy when my mom takes me to the temple.

One of the major festivals of my country Nepal, is Dashain (Vijaya dashami). We celebrate it a little differently than Indians. It is believed that durga took nine days to kill Mahishashura and on the tenth day she gained victory over him. The first day is Ghatasthapana, when jamara is planted. Then there is fulpati and so on till ninth day-nawami and the tenth day is vijaya dashami. The elders put tika on the forehead of the young ones, jamara and give them blessings. Cards are played and killing and eating goats meat is prominent in this festival. The festival is celebrated all over the country.
The next important festival is Deepawali/tihar (diwali). This festival is celebrated over 5 days- 1. Kaag tihar (pooja of crow) 2. Gai tihar (pooja of cow) 3. Kukur tihar (pooja of dog) 4. Laxmi pooja-this is the most important day amongnst the rest. 5. Bhai tika- it is just like rakshyabandhan, method is different.

I love these festivals and the stories of hindu mythology. I don't do puja often but I do pray to god everytime before I go to bed. And I go to temples a lot.

I told u about these festivals coz this is the time of the year that I get really religious.

Thank u so much for ur wonderful comment.. so ur from Nepal..it must be really a beautiful country nah. Ur lucky ur able to visit temples.. in Holland we dont have much Mandirs as in India. Its really nice that u pray to God..(he listens to you). Isnt this show a good stimulatar to make u more spiritual..It did work for me..=]

I had the privilage of being around my great grandmother for a while during my childhood. She was a staunch follower of Lord Shiva and a staunch follower of the Shaivism cult. When I look back I find myself sitting in her lap and listening to the tales of Shiv-Parvati. I myself have been worshipping Lord Shiva and Lordess Durga from ever since I could remember. All thanks to my great grandmother who inculcated this virtue in me. Though she is no more with us I make it a point that I carry out her tradition of worshipping Lord Shiva and Lordess Parvati/Durga.
