Pleased with his resilience and devotion, Shiva gave to him the divine sword Chandrahas (Chandra-Moon, Has-laugh, literally 'the laughter of the moon' but referring to the shape formed by a crescent moon which resembles a smile). It was during this incident that he acquired the name 'Ravana', meaning "(He) Of the terrifying roar", given to him by Shiva - the earth is said to have quaked at Ravana's cry of pain when the mountain was pinned on him.

Lord Shiva had given his sword Chandrahasa with a caveat that if it was used for unjust causes, it would return to the three eyed one and Ravana's days would be numbered.

Raja Janak Birth Story

There was a King called as Nimi and was supported by his Guru Vashisht. One day Nimi thought of performing a Yagna to which Guru Vashisht agreed. Vashisht told Nimi that this Yagna must be performed as according to the strict discipline and timing of the the Yagna must be honored so as to fatch maximum benifits. Nimi agreed to it and started doing arragement for the Yagna. When the stipulated day of Yagna arrived he found Guru Vashisht missing. Raja Nimi was in fix. Now he realized if Yagna is not started exactly at the stipiluted time then it would be against Guru's order. And if in the absence of the Guru, the Yagna starts then Guru would go angry. Thinking this he had to arrivee to a dicision since Vashisht did not arrive as Muhurat time was approching. He reasoned out himself by saying that after all Vasihsta is our Guru and he would be more happy in seeing his diciple honoring his word or command rather than him. With this he went ahead with the Yagna in the absence of Guru Vashisht. He only performed required rituals but did not take anything from the YagnaVedi as prasad. Guru Vashisht arrived later some time and was furious about Nimi performing Yagna in his absence. In that spur of the moment he curse him "Hey Nimi, since you insulted me, you should be dead with immediate effect". Nimi could not belived that his Guru can say something like this . He expected some sort of appriciation for honoring the Time of the Yagna. As he found no fault with him and un-nesscesary curse from Guru Vashisht, he as well gave the same curse to his Guru. The sitiuation was that both of them falling dead were lying on the floor. The kingdom was left without any Raja and Guru which was not possible according to the social and political system of that time. Hence Rishis and Munis of nearby area gathered to make these dead bodies alive. They made Guru Vashisht to wake up thinking that Guru Vashisht in turn will make Raja Nimi alive. Although, Atman of Guru Vashisht was ready to go back to the physical frame of the Guru , Atman of Raja Nimi saw this as an apportunity to wander here and there. Atman of Raja Nimi refused to go back to the physical frame of the Nimi saying that it will not be part of that world where in selfish and timid Guru like Vashisht resides. That created a huge problem. But Rishi Munis were also very adamant of making Nimi alive. If atman of Nimi refuses to occupy Nimi's Sharir then we shall ask some other atman with out Kaya or Deha(Body) to occupy Nimi's Kaya they said. According to the Perkaya Science it is not possible to occupy any Kaya by any Atman. Kaya and Atman must be complementory to each other then only it is possible. So Rishis started hunt for the Atman without a Kya suitable for Nimi's kaya. Ultimatly they obtained it but for that they had to make Nimi's body suitable for that Atman. Then only the Vedehi Atman could be restored to Nimi's dead body. Since body of the Nimi was made suitable to the Vedehi Atman the dead body was named as Janak as it has given a place for an Atman and since Vedehi Atman was installed in the dead body it was called as Vedehi Raja Janak.

Raja Janak was shown as King of the Mathila. Mith+Ila is Mithila. Mith is what we refer as Mithya that is illusory. Mith means illusory or that does not exists in reality. Ila means Atman. So Mithila menas a illusion of Atman when there is no real Atman. This qualifies as Physical frame of the Raja Janak that has a Atman of some one else but not its own Jivatmas. hence illusion of Atman. This means that Mithila means Ved Vyas wanted to tell Physical Frame of the Raja Janak.

The Guru-Shishya killing each other is nothing but the practice of the YogSadhana regularly done by the Sadhak under the guindence of the Guru. Sometimes it so happens that the Atman goes out of physical frame leaving the physical frame. This Avastha is called as Samadhee Avastha. One can go into the Samadhee Avastha and come back to the normal exisitence if guided by the proper Guru. The Samadhee Avastha is obtained by regular practice of meditation and Chakra Bhedan.

Hi friends,
After so long I am posting, I didn't get time, to post. I am sorry for that.
Now not to waste any more time, I will start a new story of Andhakasura.

Andhakasura
Siva and Parvati were enjoying a very pleasant day at Mandara parvat. Parvati closed the eyes of Siva playfully and darkness descended on the universe. Parvati was perplexed and her palms were wet with perspiration. As she removed her hands from the eyes of Siva, the universe emerged out of darkness. Yet, from the droplets of sweat of Parvati that fell on ground, a child was born and he was blind. He was noticed by the divine couple when he roared .

Shiva explains to Parvati that since his eyes were closed, the baby was born blind and calls him Andhaka (the blind). Since he posed devilish qualities he was called Andhakasura (the blind demon ).

Hiranyaksha , a troublesome demon did intense penance to please Lord Shiva. Hiranyaksha wanted a son who posses immense powers to rule the world. Shiva refused to grant such a boon. Instead he offered Andhaka to Hiranyaksha saying that Andhaka posses all the qualities he was looking for , and to treat him as his son.

After Hiranyaksha dead, Andak took his father responsibility.
As Andhak was blind, he had done a very hard penance of Brahma by standing on one leg, with arm constantly raised heavenwards. During his entire tapasya, neither he drank a drop of water nor any food. In the desperation he started chopping his body limbs one by one. Offering the chopped parts to the scared fire. When all his flesh has been consumed by the holy fire. He had became barely a skeleton, when Brahma choose to appear before him.

What do you want, son - Said Brahma.

Please give me two boons,

First Boon - I may be able to see.
Second Boon - I may not be killed by gods, demons or humans or even by great Vishnu.

Among many things, the boons he asked for included extraordinary vision and immortality. Everything was granted except the immortality.
Instead Lord Brahma asked him to choose when he could die. Andhakasura asked for a boon that he would die only when he aspires for a woman who he should never aspire for.

With time Andhakasura turned more materialistic and less interested in austerities. By this time he has already conquered the world and the heaven.
On a pleasure trip he along with his companions lands up in Mount Mandara where Lord Shiva and Parvati lives. His companions tells of a yogi and his beautiful wife.

Andhaka sends his companions to bring her along. Shiva explains to them that they are Andhaka's parents. The companions mistook it for a ploy and compels Andhaka for a fight.

Andhakasura got rattled and infuriated; he mobilised an army towards Devalokaas and on way in Prithvi sighted Gauri Devi moving about in a flower garden and conveyed to Daitya that his life would have no meaning or motive to live if he could not secure somehow!

Prahlada who too was in the Battle-Party conveyed to Andhaka that Devi Gauri was none else than Maha Deva's Dharmapatni and that he should not even to think on such sinful lines!
(It would be better to commit suicide but one should be interested on the illegal possesions of others; it would be better to keep dumb than speak lies; it would be better to become impotent rather than desire a woman of others; it would be better to beg rather than steal other's money again and again!)

But Andhakasura was fired up the passion and fixation and replied angrily that after all, she might be the mother of his (Shatrus) enemies and ran away towards her even as his soldiers pelted stones from their yantraas or machines but an alert Nandi Deva hurled them back and retalliated with his parighaas as Daityas like Mayasura ran away, but Andhakasura attacked Nandi and made him unconscious.

On finding this occurrence, Devi Gauri assumed thousand Rupas and shattered the strong-hold of the Daitya infantry.
Andhakasura wondered as to who this beautiful yet dreadful woman was and pat came the reply: Na parijnaatavaamstatra kaa tu saa Girikanyakaa, Naatraascharya na pashyanti chatvaaromi Sadaiva hi/ Na pasyatih Jaatyandho Raagaandhopi na pashyati, Na pashyanti Madonmattho lobhaakraanto na pashyanti, Sopashyamaano Girijaam Pashyannapi tadaandhakah!
(As thousand faces of Gauri Devi were displayed suddenly, Andhaka got confused as to who precisely was Gauri Devi among these; the reply was that in the World, there could be four kinds of blind fools: some were born-blind, some owing to infatuation, some others were out of arrogance and conceit and yet others were highly narrow-minded! And that was whyAndhakasura was disabled to identify Maha Devi!)

Gauri Devi gave a mighty punch to Andhaka and he fell down unconscious. While his entire army got prepared to attack, Ganeshwara appeared at once along with Gauri Devi with her several Rupaas as he touched the feet of his mother joined the thousand strong Devis in the fray; as the Asuras were mercilessly slaughtered, a frightened Andhasura ran for his life to Paatala but continued still to be tormented with the crush and passion for the Devi!

Andhak attacked Shiva with his huge army. Lord Shiva sent his numerous ganas to fight him.
The door to the cave was guarded by Nandi, and hence andhak has to first fight with the nandi. The battle between him and nandi lasted over 500 yrs.
Brahma, Vishnu ,Indra & other gods came there for fight against Andhak.
As that time Shiv was not actively participated in the war, He was performing Pashupat Vrath.
The deities fought with Andhak for one thousand years.

The lietenant of Andhak - Vighasa was a strong warrior. He open his mouth wide and swallowed all the gods.

Meanwhile Lord Shiva returned after completing his 'Pashupat Vrata' and joined them.

Shiv killed Vighasa and rescued all the gods from demon's stomach.

Now, the demons requested the Shukracharya to use his mrit-sangivani mantra to revive back to life the slain demon - hosts. The gods panicked. They again prayed to Shiv to end this phenomena.

Shiv ordered his ganas to catch hold of shukracharya and he was brought before him. Shiva swallowed the demon guru - Shukracharya.

Seeing Lord Shiva in front of him, Andhak became furious and attacked him ferociously.

After that, lord Shiva attacked Andhak with his trident, which injured him. But from each drop of his blood which fell on the ground, manifested thousands of demons who resembled Andhak.

As the Demon was not coming under control even after a long drawn battle, Rudra Deva had to finally utilise the most powerful Shakti called 'Pashupati Astra'.As blood flowed in streams from the Daitya's body, each drop of blood produced an 'Andhakasura' and to lick up the drops of blood, Maha Deva had to create innumerable 'Matrikas'such as Maheshwari, Braahmi, Kaumari, Malini, Sowparni, Vyayavya, Shaakri, Nairruti, Shouri, Sowmya, Shiva, Duuti, Chamunda, Varuni, Vaarahi, Naarasimhi and so on.

As Aadi-shakti appeared in many forms.

Lord Shiva then instructed goddess 'Chandika' to drink the blood, while he killed all the demons. Goddess Chandika followed the instructions of Shiva and drank each drop of blood, which oozed out from the wounds of the demons and did not let single drop of blood to fall on the ground.

All the Marikaas accomplished the deed of lickng the blood drops and enjoyed the same. But the progeny of the Matrikas also gave birth to Andhakasuras with a 'shula' and a 'mudgara'and kept on pestering Shiva. Mahedeva approached Vishnu for help and the latter created 'Sushka Revati' who dried up the blood of all the Andhakas. It was then easy for Shiva to target the Daitya's head and the destoyed.
