Udayveer looked at his unconscious wife and felt a strange emotion in his heart. Actually it wasn't new; he had seen it coming before. It was a feeling of annoyance, resentment. Initially he hated himself for feeling it but now he had begun forgiving himself. But the guilt of developing certain wrong emotions still gripped his heart. Seven months had passed since that unfortunate day. Yes Seven.

The ordeal of seeing your loved one being still and pale like a corpse. Waiting every moment, hoping every second for some change in the flaccid body that was lying on bed.

He tried to remember the ill fated day that had sealed Manyata's fate. The impact of waves had thrown her head long onto the sharp rocks and in the mean time she had swallowed a lot of water. Though he took her to the medics almost immediately, the damage had been an internal one and she never gained consciousness again. In the months that followed she had been subjected to various doctor's diagnosis; some doctors were brought from other countries even but no one could reverse the malady that gripped her. One thing common that all medics had told him was sometimes luck and fate rule the life of human being and no medicine can cure their effect. When she was brought home from hospital, Udayveer lay by her side day and night, losing sleep; neglecting his own health in the process. Though she could not reply, he spoke to her every waking moment like she was actively listening to him. He narrated her everything that happened outside and his own feelings.

For a month or so, no one stopped him and let him be where he was. But when it got clear that he was becoming a permanent fixture in her room and ignoring others in the process, they began to try weaning him off her.

His English course which had ended as soon as it began was started again and the tutor kept him busy for hours together deliberately.

Their distancing had begun without Udayveer being aware of it. Off late he was becoming impatient while talking to her and sometimes he dozed off in her room.

Of course he loved her like he did before and there was no changing that, ever; but that feeling was becoming dusty, foggy everyday.

Yuddhaveer developed Malaria in his jail cell and died a painful death; Mihika's death had been avenged. Their family got to know every element of truth about Akash and they accepted J and Armaan's relationship without much hassles. Since no one wanted a big celebration, they got married in a court and that was it.

He picked her hand and touched it to his heart. "suno Manyata..mera dil aaj bhi kehta hai ki tum use sun sakti ho.." he told her.

"Udayveer, beta hum sabko aapse kuch zaroori baat karni hai zara neeche aayenge please" Manyata's mother told him.

He replaced her hand and followed Komal down where all of them had already gathered.

"Yuvraj Udayveer..humne iss ghar ke bade hone ke naate ek faisla liya hai jo aap ke baare me hai" Mrinalini devi informed him when he was seated.

She looked at each persons face once and continued "hum raj gharane ke hain aur yeh gharana sadiyon se chalta aaya hai..aage bhi chalta rahe iske liye ek vaaris ki zaroorat hai.."

"Kya matlab hai aap ka?" Udayveer cut in.

"matlab aap jaante hain..Manyata shayad coma se bahar aaye ya nahi aaye, kuch kaha nahi jaa sakta..par humari zindagi rukni nahi chahiye"

"aap mujhe seedhe seedhe batayiye ki kya baat hai" Udayveer was getting impatient.

"matlab yeh ki aap ko dusri shaadi karni hogi" His father announced.

"aap log insaan hai ya janwar iss baat ka shak ho raha hai mujhe...I am not going to get married again and that's final" he said and left the place feeling disgusted with his family. Seriously what were they thinking?

Manyata was their own daughter for heavens sake, how could they not see that?

'You are no better than them..aren't you begrudging her for deserting you?' his subconscious told him.He closed his eyes and saw a vision where Manyata was falling into a deep gorge in slow motion and his hand was too short to catch hold of her.
