chapter 1
the drought in Jaipur had lasted for three successive years .Even when the clouds were sighted they passed by ,ignoring the stricken country.the monsoon had so to speak forgotten the land ,but after a long wait it finally rained the day she came to Jaipur .she bought with herself the rain the horrendous night of storm the NIGHT that changed her and her soul mates life
part 1
it was a stormy night of April ,the rain was cruel in Jaipur ,the raindrops beat loudly against the roof like a threat to the poor five year old uday veer singh .the winds banged against his windows ,as he cluched tighter to his mickey mouse blanket ,if it would have been other day he would roar against the nature like a brave tiger but today he was really scared ,he kept on sweating and chanting his mom 's name again and again today he was scared for many reason ,the first was because his mother was not at home the clock read quarter after 9 and yet his mother had not returned he was scared whether the storm had been harsh on his mom and is stopping her ,then the other reason was the currents were cut off due to such heavy rain and he was left all alone in the darkness ,little did uday knew that this loneliness and darkness was not of a single night but of his whole life and the last reason was it was his birthday after some hour a day that he always hated ,on his last birthday his dad met with an accident and passed away so he was scared ,uday was scared of loosing his mother ,the only family member he had ,he did have his chacha [uncle] but his chachi and her children always treated him badly so he hated them from the core of his heart ,finally he closed his teary eyes and finally slept
part 2
in mrinalini 's home
there was frequent screams ,mrinalini devi, menuka and some servants was inside the room helping komal with her labour while bridgraaja nd giriraaj eagerly waited outside ,with every screams bridgraaj missed a heart beat ,he recalled earlier how komal pleaded bridgraaj to do this delivery in a hospital in a proper way but bridgraaj did not dare to speak against his maasa decision and kept shut. all the kids were tugged inside there bed although jaggat tried his best to sneak a pick everytime still a slap by his mom bought him to the bed .with the increasing rythm of the rain ,the screams got louder and shiller ,finally with the end of storm the screams ended and there was a cry that filled up the house ,after sometime menuka came out she lowered her pallu and now her face was covered by her pallu that was the rituals girls were not allowed to show there face and still had parda system ,she lowered her tone and asked
MENUKA;kowersa[ younger brother in law bridgraaj] where is adhiraaj bhaisha[ elder brother in law]?
BRIDGRAAJ:he has gone for an important meeting ,he won't be back till tomorrow morning why what is the matter bhabhi sa? is komal fine? is my baby fine?
Bridgraaj 's mind was filled with fears as menuka feeling the presence of maasa exits from the room ,maasa [here maasa means mrinalini deve] marched to bridgraaj with much dignity and pride and finally spoke in a cold tone with a expressionless face
MRINALINI DEVI:KOMAL IS FINE AND EVEN SHE IS FINE
BRIDGRAAJ:shewhat are you talking about maasa ? she! is it not a boy?
MRINALINI:no...komal has committed the biggest sin by giving birth to a girl and we need to erase this sin so after three days on the night of shiv ratri we will get this baby girl boiled in the hot milk we will offer he to lord shiva and he will give us a baby boy next time
Bridgraaj:but maasa doing this my baby will die
Mrinalini:this is her faith she have to accept it and it is good for you bridgraaj to accept this
Bridgraaj:i will do as you say i will sacrifice my daughter
saying this maasa along with giriraaj exits the room ,all the other ladies left komal all alone as for them it was a bigger sin staying there with komal ,bridgraaj sat there like a statue he could not believe his ears ,he just wanted his daughter to die ,but a father will remain a father and moreover he loved komal after hours of cursing her and talking bad about his baby girl finally his heart melted by her cry ,yes he heard his daughter 's cry and without being able to control himself he rushed inside the room there he saw the most beautiful senerio of god ,his baby girl was twisting and trying with all her might to get away from komal 's tight embrace her tiny fingure ran into komal 's tangled hair ,thick streams of tears started to fall off his eyes his heart was already melted he rushed beside the bad ,he knelled and took her into his arms very softly and delicataing ,her white milk washed skin was covered with a pink rugged old blanket her black wide eyes looked upwards and she curdled her tiny body making her self comfortable in her dad 's arm and smiled at him the love for his daughter finally erupted in his heart
BRIDGRAAJ:baby i am your father baby i am soo sorry i did not come to meet you .situation are not in your favour baby maasa ,bhaisa everyone is back of killing you
at that the little baby 's eyes grew teary it could be understood that she was scared
BRIDGRAAJ;baby i am a bad papa i cannot do anything to help you i am s weak i cannot go against my mom 's decision please forgive only if they knew that you are so innocent so pure maybe they would not be back of killing you but alas they do not you are the best gift given to me by god ,i do not want to part from you i love you baby why are you not given the affiliation to live ?
KOMAL:maybe because its you bridgraaj who does not want to let her live
came the cold reply he turned sideways to see komal was sitting on the bed adjusting her sarri ,she snatched the baby from his hands he could see the pain in her eyes she was hurt that the guy whom she trusted ,believed ,got married ,gave herself could not even fight for his own daughter
BRIDGRAAJ:i am sorry komal but tell me what shall i do now?
KOMAL:do nothing at all just throw her in milk and kill her then that night pin me to the bed making an attempt for a baby boy
she said in such sacasim that even the coldest person 's heart would ache
BRIDGRAAJ:komal please
KOMAL:what please bridgraaj this is what you want na this is what your bloody freaking so called maasa want na so do it
BRIDGRAAJ;see komal it is not time to pick a fight we have to think something to sav our daughter
KOMAL:huh think like what say it should i flee with her
bridgraaj got a tight hold of her arm and shook her there was a glint of joy in his eyes
BRIDGRAAJ:yes flee with her and do not let anyone know flee somewhere we can never find you
KOMAL:but what about you?
BRIDGRAAJ;i will stay back and handle all the situation i am sorry but to save your daughter you have to do this and i cannot go with you you have to take up the responsibility of a mother and save your daughter
komal eyes were moist but it was no time to shed her tears but to fight for the little life in her arms
KOMAL:i promise bridgraaj she will never regret having a father like you ...you ahve done nothing wrong and she will always love you for what you did ,...for saving her life but i want a last favor from you... you need to do a last favor on her a daughter 's name is always kept by her father and i want you to keep her name
BRIDGRAAJ;i just wish that one day my daughter gets the affilation of being a part of this family...a part of this family so i would keep her name manyata humm intezaar karenge ussh din kei liye jaab tumhare jibaan koh manyata milegi from today my daughter will be called manyata kumari singh
KOMAL;but ..
BRIDGRAAJ;no komal i do not want her to have the name of this dirty family
he looked downwards at manyata
BRIDGRAAJ; manyata dad will always love you

The storm was over uday patiently was patienly sleeping in the bed when finally he heard some heavy footsteps he opened his eyes to find it was his mother ,she was all drenched ,her clothes were torn apart and there was scatrches all over her body ,he jumped out of the bed and hugged her tightly but she pushed him harshly and walked to the window he was taken back by her such harsh behavior and again back hugged her and asked innocently
UDAY:what 's the matter ,ma ,where was you till this many hours? why are you hurt did that adhiraaj do something again ?
the name adhiraaj rang in her ears like an alarm she turned back and there was fire in her eyes as she gripped uday by his arm and jerked him ruthlessly and started to scream
SAVATRI;YOU WANNA KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO ME YOU WANNA KNOW WHY WAS I LATE OR WHY AM I HURT THEN LISTEN TODAY ADHIRAAJ TOOK ME TO THE DARKEST CORNER OF THE CITY AND RAPED ME YES HE RAPED YOUR MOM UDAY HE TORE ALL MY CLOTHES AND RAPPED ME FOR CONTINOUS 5 HOURS I PLEADED HIM AND BEGGED HIM BUT STILL TO STOP MY PROTEST HE HIT ME WITH THE RODS AND HURT ME NOW TELL WHAT WILL YOU DO HUH
thick streams of tears started to fall off his eyes he understood every word savatri spoke it pierched his heart like needle a wave of revenge grew inside his heart after sometime by seeing her son crying savatri calmed she realisehed that she was taking out her frustation on her five year old innocent son she left the grip and started to walk backwards she was going under a mental trauma uday pleaded her to stop but she continued to walk back
SAVATRI:beta i am very dirty i am very bad please do not hate me do not come near me you will too become sinfull please beta do not hate your mom
flashes of her struggle came to her mind as she screamed for help ,it was not her brain but the pain that she suffered was doing suddenly she lost her balance and she slipped off the window ,uday rushed to the window to find her body fallen on the ground and blood ozzed out of her head he could not save his mother savatri was death
uff at last finished
