Part 7 Giving up

When she entered, I had to join the crowd of frozen stares,

Well I agree that was the whole points of inviting her, to give all these people a heart attack, they did get a one but not exactly the way I planned for them.

She was no longer the greasy ghost of the library but someone, on whom one would rather die for, the girls around stared at her open mouthed, some still trying to figure out who she really was which even I haven't done yet.

She stood there at the entrance not giving the slightest attention to the whispers that broke the surface as she entered, her hair soft, brown and wavy, her eyes free from those magnifying glasses looked deep dark and brown, she wore a shoulder less red dress and tiny matching pearl earrings, the aura she emitted was so breathtaking that for a moment I wasn't so sure whether this was my partner or not.

After a moment she walked swiftly to me entangling her arm with mine saying nothing in the process,

"You look great" I said as soon as I found my voice back,

She laughed that ringing laughter of hers, and watched me for a while before saying,

"Always the tone of surprise"

"No..I mean"

"I spoiled you joke didn't I?"

I looked at her perfectly made up face, it was unreadable, damn this girl was different, she was the first of her kind that could honestly leave no clue for me to catch up on her thoughts and for the first time rather than being irritated I was happy to be puzzled,

"Yeah you did a kind of" I said after a moment of thinking,

"Then I should make up for my mistake"

She said before dragging me out of the crowded noisy hall, in to the blessed outside.

Walking on the now empty and silent road by his side listening to nothing but the wind and leaves had something different about its concept, Glancing sideways at his face now masked with curiosity and those fine features that echoed some resemblance to a character I couldn't recall I wondered how many things had changed so far,

First of all let's call it my point of view, the guy for me was just a player until today, now felt more like some familiar stranger if that was even possible,

"Monya…would you mind sharing, where are we going?"

"It won't be much use for you to know"

I said keeping the unreadability in my voice untouched,

Then again the silence continued until the road dropped in to the place I was looking for,

It was silent and the wind and darkness ruled here, there was nothing but ruins of some ancient age and the thousand feet of nothingness below us as we stood at the very end of that hill top,

"What is this place?"

He asked again,

"The land of fairies"

He laughed, laughed and laughed,

"Do you still believe in fairies?"

He asked finally choking for breath, I frowned at him,

"I don't, but there are here, you'll see them in a bit, and please don't shout"

"Alright"

My eyes gazed hard in to the darkness thirsty for the sight I was about to see, and then they came, thousand upon thousand light filled golden dots circled us filling the nothingness all around,

"There you go," I said sarcastically after taking a lung full breath of cool night air, "My fairies…your most probably fire flies"

"No" He said in a tone that matched mine, "They are fairies"

"So?" I asked him after moment, "What would you like best? My hill top fairies or your prom night fairies?"

"I would like the one standing beside me best"

Looking in to his eyes I gulped taking in the gleam of honesty in them,

Both of us were lost in the sight around us, lost in our own worlds of thoughts which were crisscrossed in some place, unknowingly our fingers entangled with each other and we stood there watching in silence until the silence itself would break.

The memory swept past my mind as I waited on the sunny outside of some caf irritated more than hell if it was possible, and the phone I received last night broke the surface of my thoughts,

"You will meet him and that's final" It was the commanding voice of my granny, taking a deep breath I argued back,

"But I have some other plans"

"I don't care," She said, "This is a chance to get to know your fianc dear before you two are actually married"

"I don't want to marry him" I mumbled,

"Neither does he as it seems" Dadi sahib sighed,

"So let it go na dadi sahib, let us be"

"No" She said firmly, "You are going to meet him and make sure you impress him"

Oh yeah I'll impress him, I thought putting on my glasses and tying my hair back to that oily pony tail, putting on the worst outfit I could see on my wardrobe I set out to meet my future husband.

And now it was two hours since I was waiting here and the guy hadn't showed up yet, I was getting irritated and now I wish he would never come as if he came now I would most certainly end up killing him.

A hand waved in front of my eyes and I looked up to find something unexpected, it was UV grinning at me,

"So this was your important work?" He asked dropping to the seat in front of me, "Making a list of Sunday visitors?"

"No" I shook my head disappointed, "I'm here to see someone"

"Male or female?"

"Does that matter?"

"Nope" He said taking in my bitter voice, "It doesn't if you hate the person this much"

"What are you doing here anyway?" I asked him, "I thought you were going on a hike?"

"That was the plan, but had to postpone it"

"Why?"

"Well you see I had to come and see someone too"

"Who?"

"My fiance"

For a moment I was surprised at him, he was so honest with me, and I, in spite of being his friend I was lying at the moment,

"UV" I said in a weak voice,

"Hmm?"

"I've got to tell you something"

"You talk like my mum"

"What?"

"Well that's how she addresses dad when you know, some of his important files are lost or something"

Seeing how happy he was at the moment I really couldn't tell him what I was planning to say,

"Let's get out of here" I said after a moment,

He agreed at once as if he was looking for a chance to leave and accompanied me out of the caf.

"Let's go before your so called fiance would arrive"

"Wait a moment"

He said pulling the pin out of my hair,

"There that's the way I like you most"

I watched his expression for a while and realized it wasn't only my point of view that had changed, I had started to grow very fond of him and even I've started to miss him,

He was the only thing real about life in here, he was something as I said was familiar but strange, what familiar was that he reminded me of a person I've used to be before I was trapped in this golden age called the heir to throne, and what strange was that he was pulling me back to that personality the one for which I carved, the one I've always wanted to be.

And I could say only this,

"Could tell the same about you"

Unknown to both someone was there to see if everything went right and the news was sent to the palace that the prince and the princess left the caf so happily hand in hand.
