"Princess", his lips could no longer resist.
No sooner had the words escaped his lips, he felt himself thrashed back, her arms locking themselves around his neck. A pair of soft lips crushed against his. With his senses clogged, he stood baffled by her aggression. Within seconds, he felt his own aggression take over as he kissed her back with an equal force. His hands travelled roughly to the small of her back and pressed her up closer, deepening the kiss. The sky erupted into a deafening roar of thunder before loosening its hold on the countless water drops. The raindrops danced on their skin as they stood quenching their desires.
The suppressed instances of the uncountable heartbreaks and betrayals, she had fetched him, resurfaced as his hands explored her back, feeling her skin through her wet clothes.
She shivered at the feel of his hands over her wet clothes that stuck to her like a second skin. Her fingers tangled themselves in his hair as her insides burned with desire. She had had enough of his indifference. The frustration for her untold feelings, for her adamant mind blind to the truth, for not having him around when she felt lonely amidst a crowd of people slowly evaporated as her hands skimmed down his perfectly toned body with a burning passion engulfing her heart.
Growing out of breath, she reluctantly broke the kiss, the rain still pouring down steadily. Resting his forehead against hers, he gasped for air, his arms still secured around her waist. His mind snapped to the present, as he processed what just happened. He hastily retreated, disentangling her arms from around his neck and looked at her with an undecipherable expression.
"We should leave", he said setting his jaws tight and bent down to scoop her up in his arms.
She looked at him with disbelief as he reconstructed his walls. It would kill her to let go after getting so close. She grabbed his shoulders, stopping him midway and closed her eyes drawing the strength to speak.
"I'm not going anywhere before you know what you should know." She said, every word echoing a firm resolve.
"What should I know?" He asked as coldly as before.
With her heart beating a million times per second she could not find her voice to force the words out of her lips.
He breathed out a sigh and turned to leave. She struggled for her lips to move when she heard his footsteps slowly recede away from her. Her eyes shot open as she saw with an engulfing fear his retreating back. Nervousness forgotten, she finally forced the words out. "I love you, Yuvraj Udayveer Singh!"
He froze. She did not need a confirmation that it was her confession that stopped him, not the up-roaring thunder. She waited but he did not turn. Nor spoke a word. Just stood under the lamp post, his palms clenched into fists. She limped forward, her feet sloshing in the rain, and stood facing him. She looked at his closed eyes with teary ones.
Sensing her presence, he opened his eyes which were no more cold and hard but soft and tender. He could make out the tears sprawling down her face amidst the rain. He cupped her cheeks, tracing his thumb along a tear as it slipped down her smooth cheek. Even in the dim light, her wet face shone as if it was coated with a silver layer. A narrow streak of red was prominent against her left cheek.
Her legs gave up and she slumped to the ground as if her body had been saving the last bit of energy for her to make her confession. He knelt down beside her and wiped her tears away. She winced as his fingers brushed the cut on her cheek. Giving her a guilty look, he reached behind her and brought her dupatta forward. Dabbing the soft, cottony fabric at her cut, he wiped it clean, still not uttering a word.
"Won't you say anything?" she asked uneasily.
"What do you want me to say, princess?" He asked in a calm voice.
She bit her lip, deciding whether to ask the question she had been most dreading to. Bracing herself, she asked in a small voice,"Do you still love me?"
He looked at her slightly bemused, before cupping her cheeks tenderly.
"I'd never stopped." He declared with a soft smile.
She felt an ecstatic smile break across her face as she finally cherished the implications of boundless happiness. Her eyes sparkled with blissful tears as no more part of her felt dead. Overwhelmed by the million emotions rushing to her heart all at once, she threw herself at his arms, drowning their warmth.
"I'm sorry Uday. Please.. please forgive me!" She mumbled between sobs.
"Shh..Its okay princess", he mumbled, caressing her back.
"No, its not. I-"
He pulled back, shushing her rant midway.
"None of those matter anymore, Princess! I fell in love with you for once and for ever." He said, his eyes intent and serious before his lips closed in on her.
