Young maidens covered the aisle with roses where she was going to walk. It was a clear path only made for her. She, who had been lost. She, who had been found. She, who was going to take what was hers. Forgetting all that happened, looking only towards the future.
In a moment, they entered. The awaiting eyes gleamed with the shimmering happiness as they looked at the stage. Standing tall, donned in their traditional costumes, the air around them filled with dignity and centuries worth of royal past; who wouldn't be in a total awe seeing them there. They were their leaders, they decided the people's fate. The people loved them, looked up to them and they had every reason to do so.
They were the true royals. Royalty ran in their veins in the shape of blood. The way they looked at the huge crowd, like they were above them but a part of them. Like they couldn't count them but could feel the beats of their hearts. It wasn't an easy feat to accomplish. And the ones who did that were the ones deserving to stand high on the stage.
The queen took a step forward. The glow of happiness on her face was mirroring the feelings of the crowd gathered there. She smiled and held out her hand, pointing at the opposite end of the ground. On the cue, all the eyes turned around.
And in that breath-taking moment, she entered.
The loud trumpets seemed to be deafening but the applause could still be heard. Petals on flowers were showered on her as she entered the ground with the same air of royal dignity like her family had high on that stage. Followed by the servants who held her long white veil behind her, her eyes were set on the stage where her grandmother eagerly stood, waiting to hold the hand of her successor.
Her steps were confident as she closed the distant between herself and her family. She reached the carpeted steps and held her long skirt as she ascended. If the celebration around her wasn't so loud, the tinkling of her anklet and bangles could have been heard. Halfway on the stage, the royals on the stage bowed their head slightly to welcome her. Stars seemed to be shining in her eyes when she finished her ascend.
Standing at the edge of the stage, she folded her hands and closed her eyes as the Rajprohit said the blessings prayers for her. In that moment, everything was silent. Everyone seemed to be holding their breaths as the rituals commenced. When they were finished, she opened her eyes.
She could see the pure happiness on her mother's face, the congratulatory grin on her brother's face and the proud, gentle smile on her best friend's face. She could also see the scowl on her father's face and the disgusted look on her sister's face but she didn't care. Her eyes were set on her grandmother's whose emotions were incomprehensible.
Pride and happiness seemed to be glowing from the queen's whole body. Over-whelmed by her emotions, she held out her hand for her granddaughter. At the lady's gesture, a huge smile appeared on her face and the young hand held the elder's hand.
Now, she stood side by side with her grandmother. The previous generation presented the present generation to the world. Festive cheers filled the air as she sat on the throne.
Then, the awaited moment came.
A beautiful crown, made of pure diamond and studded with beautiful gems was presented to the queen who picked it up and showed it to everyone. Holding that crown for just one moment, she put it on the head of her successor; the one for whom everyone had been waiting for the past 16 years.
Ceremonious shots were fired, swords were raised in congratulations, applauds from the crowd and the royals filled the air. And amongst all the deafening celebration, the Yuvrani of Devgarh sat on her rightful throne.
Rising above all that she felt, keeping behind all that had happened, eyes set only on her future; she sat there.
After going through everything...she sat.
All hail the Princess of Devgarh - Yuvrani Manyata!
