She gazed helplessly as his eyes slowly began to close as he started falling inside the pool……she wanted to think of it all as a nightmare….a bad dream …..that she was going to wake up any moment….but nothing of that sort was happening …..It was a crude reality …DEATH…the inevitable TRUTH….as her world fell apart in front of her eyes …her lips parted to pray for His mercy but as if He was deaf for her pleadings…. the fourth bullet pierced his already wounded body and the pool started to slowly turn red from his blood as he started to sink inside ……….

" UDAYYY…….."

She ran towards the pool …it dint matter if they fired at her or even killed her ….the fact that mattered was ….there can never be any Maanyata without Udayveer …..they were meant for a co-existence ….. in love or in war …..they were inevitable for each others existence……

She heard a gunshot but dint stop ……she was meant to rescue the one she was betrothed to …she was his queen afterall……

The area in just another moment was completely surrounded by the royal guards …..the enemy was caught …but in just another moment before anybody could get the clear picture of the situation, the injured man was shot in his head …….

" BrijRaj …..Ye kya kiya aapne ???"…….screamed dadi sahib as she reached the place hearing the guns shots …….

Brij Raj had just shot the injured man….

" Didn't u see Ma Sahib ….that bas***d was pointing his gun at Maanyata …he cud have killed her any moment ….What the heck was she doing here……"…..asked a concerned Brij to his already confused Ma sahib…

" Oh my God !!!! …..someone wanted to kill jiji !!!!" …panicked Jainandini as she witnessed the scene ….the picture now seemed steer clear in front of her Dadi sahib…who was too shocked to say anything further….but at least the good thing was them getting caught n Maanyata left unharmed ……well that was just a part of it…. the bigger picture still remained to be unveiled …..

" But Why is she running towards the pool ….has she lost it completely……somebody please stop her "…there was more of mock in Vijay's tone than concern

" Stop it Vijay ….its not a joke "……Vijay's mom snapped at Vijay for being so thick skinned even after seeing the gravity of the situation

The crowd began to go haywire in panic …..the news of murder attempt on the Queen of Devgarh spread like fire and the guests became too busy for their own safety ..all the frenzy and the excitement for the engagement ceremony just vanished in thin air ….everybody seemed to be running for their lives …there was so much chaos that nobody was able to hear her screaming his name with so much pain …….

The royal guards also dint get the situation and started stopping Maanytaa in her way thinking that she might have got scared due to this attack on her…quite oblivious wasn't it!!!!... and that's why she was screaming n blabbering something unusual ….they got hold of her…..but she seemed to have gone blind in madness …..weeping bitterly and screaming his name all this while …..

Dadi Saheb cudnt take this anymore …worried about her granddaughter …she went towards her child …..to comfort her …..

" Chhod Dijiye Maanyata ko!!!!"…..she ordered

Maanyata saw her approaching

" Dadi sahib ….MERA UDAYYY….YAHAN POOL MEIN!!!!!!!...MAAR DAALAA UN SABNE!!!!!..."…….she was unable to even speak properly…..as tears welled up in her eyes…. she managed to speak only this much

Now only everybody's eyes went towards the pool ….and what they witnessed made them freeze in their path …..The color of swimming pool was getting too red for everybody's comfort …..without waiting for another moment the guards jumped inside the pool …..and when they finally swam towards the corner with a seemingly lifeless body……..The worst fears had come TRUE…….

It wasn't Maanyata …..The target was UDAY …..and the mission was accomplished …… someone sighed in relief in a corner …..and lighting up his cigarette he vanished from the scene in no time …….

" Uska game baj gya sirjee ….. poori ki poori 4 goliaan lgi hain …..Bachega nahi!!!!!"

" Dhyaan rahe …wo bach gya to hum nhi bachenge!!!!!...They haven't even given us half of the contract money….if he survives …..that man will kill us!!!"

" Sawaal hi nhi h sir …..The mission is accomplished …Rathore is dead"

" Good ….leave the place immediately ..is se pehle ki kisi ko shak ho jaye …I ve arranged ur passport ….6 mahiney ke liye gaayab ho ja!!!!"

N the man on the other side cut the phone…….

Maanyata collapsed as she saw him like that ….The valiant prince that he was and the lifeless thing he had become ….only for her sake …..so that she remained ok ……

Brijraj immediately ordered for the air ambulance to prepare for its flight …..he cudnt risk the life of his beloved son in the silly traffics …he ordered the guards to immediately clear the place ….no crowd should be seen in the vicinity of Devgarh mansion……

Doctor sahib ran towards Uday to check on him…..to his horrors his breathing had stopped ….he hurriedly checked on his pulse …weak but definitely there ….The prince had never learnt to lose this easily ……..

" Brij…….he is sinking fast ….Hurry!!!!!!!!!"

Just then the Audi got parked near the pool and Brij with the help of guards held Uday in his arms and ran towards the passenger seat ….fixing him comfortably …Brij n doctor sahib drove off towards the in built aerodrome where the air ambulance was waiting for them …….within minutes Uday was flown to the best hospital in Delhi…….while Doctor Sahib started with the possible treatments he cud manage …..the air ambulance was a hospital in itself …..well equipped with the most advanced technologies that medical science had provided ……

But the problem was Uday not reviving …his pulse rate was not improving …..the blood loss dint stop…n his brain was getting unresponsive …..he was in grave danger and needed to be operated upon immediately ……otherwise there were chances of him slipping into God forbid….COMA

Doctor sahib was unable to make up his mind to start with the operation …….Delhi was still 15 minutes away…and each passing second was deciding the fate of Udayveer….Doctor sahib had the equipments and the talent …..but he had seen the kid grow into this bright young man ….and his hands shook even with the idea of holding a scissor …..first time in his life he felt helpless and scared ….seeing him lying there in a mess with uncountable wires and equipments deciding his life was a dreadful sight of the same man who always lived on his own terms …..It was the biggest day of his life and Maanyata's …..Tonight was his engagement …and here he lay battling for his life on the death bed…..the magnificent Prince that he was …this was certainly not his END …..the story of the lost princess had to be happily ever after ……he has to be his savior ……determined Doctor sahib held on his equipment….Udayveer had to survive for his queen …..

Giriraj was on his chartered flight to Devgarh with Unaati n both father n daughter were clueless about Uday's condition ……as his cellphone was switched off ….the Devgarh Royals even after mustering all the courage were unable to give him the most unpleasant news of his life …….Unnati was chirpy with the whole idea of her brother finally getting engaged to her best friend and wasn't really able to keep it to herself or keep some gravity…she was just too excited to hold back her emotions ….Dada must be really happy today …..I l pester him till he blushes red …this was going to be so much fun …..this was all she thought …..Giriraj on the other hand cudnt think beyond the revelation of the plan in front of Maanyata …he was eager to make sure that Uday didn't reveal anything to Maanyata or put his political career in danger….yes there were security issues due to the constant life threatening calls he was receiving to call off this alliance ….. but that was not an issue right now …Uday was safe within the Devgarh premises …..afterall they have been friends for a hundred years ….they must be careful enough to provide Uday with all the possible security measures

It had all started with Uday and Dadi sahib together boycotting the Mahasabha due to their greedy ways ….A Nuclear Power plant in Rajasthan was a good idea and they had been supporting it initially ….but owing to the corruption happening at the back …the life of so many innocent people seemed to be at stake…. Mr. Rathore, the brain behind the establishment of the Power plant which initially seemed a dream come true to Uday, was nothing but a farce person n broker of the greedy kings who were the members of Mahasabha ….for them it was all about the easy money …..but the truth came out when Devgarh n Jaigarh were offered their share of money worth in billions …..Giriraj didn't care and was ok with the idea but Uday, having a mind of his own …. took a stand for his people …this was certainly UNACCEPTABLE…… Dadi Sahib backed him …..and them being the most powerful politically had the POWER …..hence, the tender never passed….. Udayveer influenced the Delhi high commission and even the Rajasthan government could not do anything…. The industry which was putting up the plant incurred insurmountable losses ….and after that the threatening calls started …..Giriraj wasn't exactly sure of who was behind it …as so many people were within the suspicion radar right from the Rajasthan government to the Mahasabha to the French company which was establishing the power plant …may be all of them were involved but till the picture got clear there were no chances of getting them down …but Giriraj never got this fact that why these so called threatening people were after breaking off this alliance?????...Whatever it was but he told Uday to be careful…..one should always be careful of his enemies……

Giriraj glanced at his watch n sighed in relief …within 15 minutes he was landing in the Devgarh Mansion…..

There was a huge crowd of reporters outside the Devgarh mansion …how badly they were shoved off by the tight security …..still they refused to budge…..after all the press statement of the Devgarh Royals was still not out ….Jaigarh also dint give any statement ….. Maharaja Giriraj was unreachable …..people all across the nation were glued to their TV screens and nobody wanted to miss this high profile news …the file pictures of Maanyata weeping and the red swimming pool flashed across all the news channels …each claiming an earlier and bigger coverage to its viewers….all the enteries were strictly denied within the premises …..Every news channel was contemplating that the prince already breathed his last outside the pool n the news is being hidden from them because of so much speculation on the involvement of Devgarh Royals in the whole issue ….

The reporter of X-news started off…..

" Is Prince Udayveer still alive …..this question is on the minds of everybody present here ……The prince was shot right before his engagement ceremony …and we also saw an air ambulance fly past the mansion as u can see in the live pictures ..only on X-news …..there is so much speculation out here …..how can some gun men get inside the palace in between such tight security arrangements …..and shoot the prince ….people are contemplating on someone from inside responsible for this act …It wud be jeopardizing the situation by considering the Devgarh Royals completely innocent and stain free in the whole issue…..we got information from our relevant sources that the prince was last seen coming out of the queen's chamber ….there are speculations of Bad blood between the two as they were seen sword fighting this afternoon ……it seems that only the Queen has the answers ….because she was the only one present at the site …..But we are waiting for the statements to come out …till then keep watching X-news….Saadhna Sharma with cameraman Rajat…..thanks for watching…"

Just then an ambulance arrived on the main gate and reporters were asked to give way for it …..everybody was shocked ….why was the ambulance called again… ..wasn't Udayveer already carried in the air ambulance …..

Maanyata's condition was deteriorating fast …..she had literally turned into stone ….absolutely unresponsive to anybody ….the tears ceased to stop but she dint utter a word ….his face kept on coming in front of her eyes and she could see nothing beyond ….she was even uttering something in a whisper to herself …..nobody was able to get what she was saying which meant something like …."…… meant for me"…..when komal shook her trying to get her out of this reverie …..she fell unconscious and dint revive….everybody was worried to see her like that…..

Doctors arrived to see Maanyata in her room ….the family was by her side …but she was unconscious….the doctors immediately sensed the situation…

" Nurse make the injection immediately ….…this could be lethal …..fast"

Within no time…some injections were down her veins ……

" What happened doc???"…asked an already exhausted Komal helplessly…..

" I am sorry ma'am …..I think the trauma proved fatal to her mentally….she could have drifted to nervous disorders if it was any late …but thank god …it was just in time that we arrived …..some medications will do ...she will be alright …..dun worry"

Some worry lines did vanish from komal's face but still there were enough of them making their presence felt on her forehead….there was still no news of Uday's well being …..what answers were they going to give to GiriRaj and Unnati ????... how could they even show their faces ….and above all Will Uday survive?????

Dadi Sahib already made arrangements with the expert surgeons even before Uday reached Delhi….the best surgeons from all over India were flown to the capital to treat Udayveer …whatever happened to him was entirely Devgarh's Responsibility …..there was no running from this fact …..It was all about Devgarh's reputation and Udayveer's life …both mattered to Dadi sahib more than her life ….What was unsettling for her was Rathore found dead at the pool…..did he fire on Uday???...The police had already taken his dead body for post mortem…..the finger prints on the gun with which Uday was shot told that it was Rathore only ….but she was sure that somebody else was pulling up the strings …else Rathore wudnt have got killed in the process ….what appeared as a defensive act held certainly some unsaid story ….wasnt it Brijraj who fired at him ….Mrinalini devi got uncomfortable with the whole idea …no Brijraj cant be involved in this …Uday is the son he never had …he will never do something as gross as this…….

New Delhi

As the ambulance landed on the roof of the best hospital in the country …..the attendants ran with the stretcher without wasting any time ……Udayveer was carried to the ICU within tight security arrangements …..the media was thick outside the hospital but they didn't hinder with the security …..

Within half an hour …many high profile doctors made their way inside the hospital within the supervision of the main in-charge of the Hospital….the press was covering the minutest of the details …still no truth came out about the Prince

Doctor Sahib did operate Udayveer in their way to New Delhi and he was successful in taking out two bullets from the abdominal area …..but the rest two lied too close to the heart …one on the shoulder n another in the lungs and he was too uncomfortable touching them…..they were fatal ……completely life threatening …..any wrong move meant losing him forever……so he waited for the experts…….

Detailing them about his trivial condition ….. he left that deadly site …..he cud no more bear to see him like that…..in between those life supporting devices …he was still not stable and they could not think of operating him till he gained consciousness ….also with passing time the danger of multiple organ failures was becoming more n more prominent….

DevGarh….

Giriraj when got to know about the whole incident …he was furious at everybody …..he even blamed Dadi sahib to be inconsiderate …..everybody was blaming everybody else ….Unnati was numb in shock……Giriraj to an extent went so much mad with anger that he blasted off everybody …..He blamed Maanyata for his son's condition and threatened to break off this engagement publicly ….. he was ready to cut all the ties that did bind the two kingdoms in one …Dadi sahib protested saying that this was what the enemies intended to do …..and Giriraj had to trust her n by doing this he was exactly solving the purpose of the enemies ….he needed to calm down …they had to be together in this tough time …only then they will sail through it

" Lekin agar Uday ko kuch bhi hua ….toh Maharani sahib hum bhool jayange ke Jaigarh ka Devgarh ke sath koi rishta bhi tha!!!!"

" Kuch nhi hoga Uday ko Maharaj……bharosa Rakhiye!!!!"

" Bharosa kia toh tha unhe yahan akele chhodkey….What did I get in return !!!!...His life at stake …..what kind of Trust are u talking about Maharani Mrinalini Devi ????"

"Aapki naaraazgi jaayaz h Giri…..hum both sharminda hain …..Yakin maaniye Uday humaare khoon se bhi badhkar hain ….i promise u that the one guilty will be found out soon!!!!!"

Giriraj decided to go to New Delhi and himself look after the security arrangements at the hospital …He had trusted the Devgarh Royals once …..now there was no chance to repeat the mistake

New Delhi

24 hours had passed …..the media was anxiously waiting for the news to come out …but everybody was keeping mum……the hospital staff was not entertaining any question regarding the prince ……the anxiety levels of the whole country shot high and for the first time news channels were garnering the highest TRPs….. Giriraj was taking care of the smallest of the things ….and like others he too was waiting to hear his son's fate ……even he was not permitted inside the ICU owing to the critical condition of his son

" At least I DESERVE TO KNOW HOW'S MY SON "…..asked a completely exhausted Giriraj..

" What do you want to know sir…that even after we trying our best …we are unable to revive him ….there is still a bullet to be removed and we cant even touch it till he at least gains consciousness…which is not happening"

" THEN WHAT ARE U REALLY DOING ALL THIS WHILE ……I MUST CALL THE DOCTORS FROM LONDON"

" Listen Maharaj ….. call the doctors from the whole world …but just understand one thing ….if this operation happens before he gains consciousness ……he will be either paralyzed for the lifetime or slip into coma …..let us do our work ….We are giving our best "…….said the main doctor who was handling Uday's case

Giriraj was left shocked and depressed….his mind still processing what the doctor just said

Another 12 hours flew by …and still there was no news……everybody smelled deep trouble …..and the enemy clan did start with the celebrations ……

" Sir…we need the rest of our money …..I think now its quite obvious that the princey is no more!!!!!"

" Dun worry !!!!!...Let that be a little more obvious …..the statement of the hospital incharge is all that we need …..I had already mentioned in the clause that half of the money will be transferred in ur account after its official that He is dead ….till that u have no choice but to wait!!!!"

"Why don't u send ur men to the hospital to be sure ????"

"What can we do …..the one who was assisting us in our endeavors all this while has backed off …there is no way we cud enter without that person's help….No choice"

"What if he opens his mouth sir ???...Shall I shut him up ???"

" No worries …that person will keep his mouth shut …..At this time we dun need to call for unnecessary troubles"

Devgarh

Two days flew past …and Maanyata dint notice dat at alldark circles were more prominent beneath her eyes …..she just sat in a corner sobbing completely exhausted and weak….. he took all the blame she showered on him and when it was time for her to die ….he stood in between her and DEATH…tears dropped from her eyes relentlessly…..she was responsible for whatever he was going through …it was her FATE …not HIS

She refused to eat or drink till she hears any news of Uday… so needles were stuck in her arms for glucose….. why everybody was keeping her immune to his news ……she was only given sleeping pills the last two days ….and just nobody mentioned Uday for once ….Was he alright ???...her heart skipped a beat as the negative things come to the mind more easily than the positive ones ….not to mention the WORST….she dint noe that like her ..everybody else was clueless about his condition…..why this had to happen …why can't she change it all by going back in time …never letting him go out of her chamber ….never throwing those deeply insulting words at him…just staring into his deep dark eyes forever…..and hold his hands till eternity….

She removed the needles from her arms and slowly made her way towards the palace corridors where he held her hands numerous times ….she got inside her chamber and began searching for the ring she threw on the floor that day…did he pick it up that day ..or left it here …..at some distance…she saw that sparkling solitaire …but before she could reach and hold it …..she found someone picking it up ….It was Jainandini…..

" please say clearly whatever u want …."…Maanyata was literally pleading to her

" U noe why I told u about this whole conspiracy just before the engagement …..because I heard mom n dad talking about the death threats Uday was receiving for not calling off this alliance….but for him the reputation of Devgarh n Jaigarh meant everything …. N I knew the arrogant Rajput he is …..he was never going to call it quits …but even after me telling u all of it ….the thick skinned creature u r ….u dint break the alliance …n see WHAT U DID BLOODY GANWAARNI???"

Suddenly Maanyata remembered the last conversation between the injured Man and Uday…..

"Oh God ….BUT WHY DINT U CLEAR THIS THAT DAY ONLY????"

Jainandini lowered her eyes n spoke timidly…..

" I was scared….but its still not the end …..U can issue the press statement that this Engagement is broken forever….Dadi Sahib and others have turned blind in quest of power to Devgarh throne …..But at least u can be reasonable ….UDAY'S LIFE IS STILL IN DANGER….m afraid they will kill him if this alliance isn't broken"

Maanyata grew suspicious of Jai's intensions …she seemed to be upto something and she needed to find out how much truth was there in her words ….yes she did hear that man threatening Uday to break the alliance by killing her….how did he get into the mansion with his men …clearly someone from inside the Mahal was involved….why didn't this thing clicked before ….Jainandini was one of the possible leads as she seemed so sure of Uday's life in danger when he was with her father n Giri uncle within such tight security….Maanyta hated to believe that her sister could do something like that …but she had to at least start from somewhere …thinking for a while….she made up her mind to go with jai's advice …..in some part of her heart she also did believe that may be what Jay was saying was true …and by calling off this engagement …Uday's life might be spared if there are any enemies out there with the intensions of killing him

"You have to reach his culprits Maanyata……and punish them for this heinous crime!!!!"….Maanyata thought

Determined she went in her room and called the press for a press conference ….everybody was shocked at Maanyata's decision of talking to the press …but She was the Queen…there was certainly no stopping her …..Dadi sahib jus gave her an advice ..nothing more ….nothing less

" Do think before speaking anything ….because ur not jus representing urself …ur representing Devgarh …be the Queen u were destined to be ……."

" Whatever I will say today dadi sahib ….trust me ….it wud be in the best interest of everybody….."

The press was not allowed to ask any question …it was only the statement that the Queen was going to give on the series of accounts happened within last two days …..

With her head held high Maanyata walked in the conference hall with poise and grace ….the hurt and withered Maanyata inside was hard to defer…she had her goggles on …the clear indication of her not showing her true emotions to the people who dint matter……..

" With due respect …I want to convey my regards to the media personnel for not abusing our privacy and following the guidelines our security personnel gave ……and standing by our side in the toughest times we have been through"

Everybody clapped……but nobody asked a question ….as they were told beforehand

" With deep remorse ….I want to acknowledge the fact that The prince of Jaigarh was shot in the premises …..and has been battling for his life since then…."…she bit her lips as she said those words n her eyes began to well up once again ……but clearing her throat …she continued

" We have extended our hands to the police for any kind of assistance they need from us to solve this case …..and find the culprits …… but due to the sensitivity of this case and the fact that the culprits are still out ……I request u all to not sensationalize this unfortunate incident and look at it from a more humane perspective ….I would sincerely request you to stop bothering or pressurizing the police …because I deeply trust their skills and judgment in solving this case….I am sure that they will not disappoint us"

Again everybody started to clap …she was certainly very well spoken n measured her words before pronouncing them …..

She continued…..

" There is another important announcement I want to make today and I would like u all to respect my decisions without questioning them ……"….she swallowed hard …..breaking the ties with a man who had become a part of her soul was Difficult …..very Very difficult

" I am severing all the ties between me and The prince of Jaigarh ….."

The conference hall became pin drop silent to hear this announcement …n the Royal family was in total shock …..a content smile played on Jainandini's lips …..finally the path was clear between her and Uday

In New Delhi …the doctor was finally out to disclose it all ……Giriraj had froze in his place and Brij was supporting him ……

" With deep regrets …I announce that due to the multiple organ failures Prince Udaybir Singh has slipped into COMA"

And again there was silence …the whole country mourned for the beloved Prince of Jaigarh who almost gave up his life to save the thankless and forgetful queen of Devgarh …..there was deep hatred in the eyes of the people all across the country for Maanyata … her emails were flooded with hate mails from all across the globe …….

"But one thing still haunts me …..Why Udaybir gave in so easily …such a big mistake from such a gross player….completely unacceptable Smith…Completely unacceptable… ..Maanyata was never the target…and he very well knew that didn't he????…..is it just me ….or u too SMELL SOMETHING FISHY????"

" Well I can go for the mistake thing Maharana Sahib …the biggest mistake he did was falling in love ….. ALAS The lovers have to pay the price with Blood …..prepare the agreement …..the nuclear deal is finally happening!!!!!"
