For centuries the way it is structured in India, Parents take care of kids all the way till they graduate and get on their feet, the unspoken expectation the kids(boys and their wives) will take care of their parents when the parents get old. That is the retirement account.

With this generation, kids want more freedom so after they get married so they want to stay free without the responsibilities of the parents.

Parents need to learn the lesson from their kids and think about themselves first and plan for their old age, just like the kids want to think first about themselves 😉

Let the kids fend for themselves right after the age of 15 pay for atleast one of the following education/clothing and food

This is what was trying to come to... 👏👏 1. Better for youth to jump in the water at the earliest to equip/ experience coming challenges and tough life ahead. 2. Dejection that parents get from kids commitments towards thier own family then them, will be minimized. No dependance by saving will be like a boon at the older age.

I so agree with you on this one.. With kids education/college centric culture we have today, I see a lot of Indian (boomrang) kids in their mid 20's pursuing "higher" education and yet to get their first full time job. I am not kidding , a lot of these kids come back home to live with parents and maintain a pretty busy social lifestyle in the evenings while their parents are slogging off with 10 hour work days well into their 50's .

Exactly, we have done that... I mean seeing some kids taking parents for granted at mid 20's makes me say blah! Earlier culture was to stay together all life and things used to workout, but with todays culture of separating out asa married etc etc ...time for parents and youth to change this culture.
