As salam walekum Dmers😊

What do you think of the writing of Taslima Nasreen ji .

Do you sympathize for the treatment she is getting these days in India?

or

Do you feel Indian Govt is doing more than she deserves?

Is she india's responsibility?

last but not least....

should the freedom of expression have its limits😊

Khudahafiz,

She is the responsibility of Bangladesh government and I do feel that India is doing more than what she deserves....

I have not gone through her writing.... but yes every artistes has to take care that they should be as much away as possible from religious controversies..... its not only about islam... there was much hue and cry about Da vinci code too.... Even the western companies and painters shall take care not to hurt hindu sentiments even if hindu is supposed to be not aggressive protestor in religious matters.....

I was hurt when someone used ganesha pic on toilet papers on the west.... or makes a slipper with om written all over it.... It is not designing it is making fun of a religion and shall be actually punishable in court😊

Haven't read her writings, so can't say. Have heard that they don't have much quality literarywise.

She's not India's problem, so it's quite obvious that the Indian govt. will be reluctant to let her stay in the face of growing protests. Afterall, the protestors are Indian citizens and it's the duty of the govt. to think about them first rather than Taslima Nasreen.

or

I don't feel the govt. has done anything more or anything less for her, just what needs to be done. She's been provided with security which anybody deserves while the govt. takes a decision, I feel it's quite ok.

Is she india's responsibility?

She is not India's responsibility, but till the time she's here obviously there are some responsibilities towards her to ensure her safety.

IMO, it should have. I mean it's ok to tell the truth or dark secrets however disturbing they might be, but baseless slandering of anything just because the author doesn't like it shouldn't be done. However, this is not keeping in mind Taslima Nasreen, as I'm not even aware what she's written, it's just my general POV.

well said abhi. india may be doing a lot more than perhaps what she deserves, but again, we don't know the worth of her work just yet.. my ending sentence will make my thought clearer.

i think freedom of expression is not only acceptable, but also essential when someone points out and reasons out prominant flaws in a system.. However, the expression may not involve dishonoring what people of other views worship.. one must follow a set of rules and abide by them while making the presentation..
Use of toilet garbage / fecal matter / nudity / other sexual displays to depict what others worship / strongly believe in must be banned..
Ambedkar calling Seeta devi "unfaithful" and M F Hussain painting Saraswati devi "nude" for PUBLIC reading / viewing as art is unacceptable..😡
I have not read Tasleema Nasreen's work, but I doubt she is using such low tactics.
Writing against age-old traditions, and regional beliefs is a sensitive matter for religious leaders and has social & political impact. I don't find it wrong, unless I succumb to anarchy / dictatorship. Galeleo was jailed for not accepting truths about earth and solar system & Darwin is still questioned, but their FREE EXPRESSION has made us proud humans in the 21st century better than ignorant men we once were..
