Heylo Kittens!!!

Well if i understoof the topic right, then i feel, no. Politics shouldn't be a part of student life. This actually depends on what student you are... College, or uni... Nevertheless i still feel it's better off without politics///

Students in that stage of their life, firstly do not need that kind of stress.
Secondly, no one in today's world would really vote for a student. Whether we like it or not, the country does not want to be in the hands of it's students.
And thirdly even if the students wanted to, there would be no real resources for them in terms of monetary values, and that sort of time to contribute.

SO overall, no.

(if you flick my points, i'll eat you.)

Love you!

and i agree wid your view though..
Its a major distraction and highly necessary while you still trying to build up your life...
and wid da amount of ill effects in our government...joining politics at student level is simply not da right choice..
(and chill i am not going to flick)...

Involvement in political activities in student life is actually good to make the students/ youths more politically aware and develop some qualities. However, the involvement should be in moderation and it shouldn't be like politics becoming the main focus with studies pushed behind. But in India student politics always gets involved with mainstream politics big time and losing of focus is the standard thing to happen. I feel in this situation politics is better left out completely from the campus. If the students really want to develop worldly awareness or build up leadership skills, they can go and do some social service. That'll be way more productive for them and the community at large, and oh I forgot, will also look good on their CV (who wants to employ a politically inclined fellow anyway).

@free2b_kittens: you can't expect others to give out their age without revealing yours. You don't have it even on your profile.

Yes, true... coz considering indian politics i doubt that will ever happen. I think to go with your point, student politics like university elections, that would make more sense.

About the CV part, trust me after you enter politics, you'll never get out. So really for all practical purposes a CV won't matter...

And sauro, no compulsion in giving age i'm guessing! 😛

You kidding right. Those colleges where politics are allowed, most students participate in it, actively, passively or reluctantly. So, does all of them end up being politicians?? 1% might become somewhat successful, 10% will suck up to them, another 10% will be chewed, sucked and spat out and the rest will simply be waiting in line with a CV in hand.

As for the age factor, just wanted to remind you that you haven't given out yours. Anyway, I'm 26.

Ok first think....
sorry for noe disclosing ma age..
And next....The students dat plunge into politics head first always end up getting major head injury...
And looking good in CV part..
well if they are able to get into politics...make a difference...and come out alive....then only will it look good...
IF i think about it...
getting into politics is fine as long as he/she goes into it wid awareness and is doing it to just build up skills..
And i was reading prodigal daughter...in dat Floryntina.R was into politics in the very beginiing..
i know its a fictional character and also the setting was something totally diff...but what she did for her country(in dabook of course) was truly ammazing...i mean dats wat is making me think right now...
but apart from dat its a total no- no from ma side...

The question obviously is how many will make a difference and come out alive. As you said correctly it's alright as long as one goes into it with awareness, that's keeping their eyes wide open. But honestly how many of them can actually do that, a young college student is usually pretty much naive. A typical college student is what, about 17-21 yrs old, whereas the student wing political leaders are always above 30 and mostly around 40. So, you can easily understand who has a better chance of influencing or exploiting the other.

Sorry, I haven't read the book and don't know about the character. But even if it was true, I don't think it's justified to ruin the future of hundreds just because one of them might make it big.

See, getting into politics is a good option for the students. Its the youth of today who has to make the difference.. If we actually are worried about our country's future and would wish that instead of same political families getting into politics and ruling the country, we get to see more educated faces in the parliament - then we surely need to get students into politics.. Maybe some courses can help in this way.. Political sciences are one of the course.. Now political sciences mixed with economics and some practical training, students can be taught how to manage a country.. Now, who will do this? Well there are many collectors who are very well talented and can guide the students.. Now when it comes to election - they are produced as a product of so and so college and the awareness spread among the people.. This way with proper education and knowledge, a student can enter into politics..

If you are talking about college politics where students are hired by the political parties for making them win election, then that is definitely not needed..
