I know I am very young on this forum and maybe this comment is too big a comment to make in general by someone like me who is not a renound historian, a celebrated literate, a respected statesman or any celebrity, but I will still dare to say (with due respects to all) what I have observed over the years that we people (vast majority) in the subcontinent are very bad loosers or sore loosers. Dont misunderstand me I dont mean Loosers in life or something but what I mean is that we Do not show any Sportsman spirit or grace when we loose. When we loose, we always look for scapegoats and excuses or we always tend to blame circumstances or events rather than accepting the fact that wining and loosing are part of the same game.

When our teams loose in cricket (say the world cup) we break the players houses, take out their funerals, threaten their families and abuse our players. Or we look for scapegoats so that some player can be dropped. Or we say that Oh The Match Was Fixed ! Paise khaye sabne !

Even when our Politicians loose in elections, then never accept that it was due to their bad governance but blame circumstances like timing of the election or say that the votes were rigged and their supporters were not allowed to vote ! Keep runing to elction commission and every news channel.

I now see the same thing happen in even smaller things like wining of SRGMP ! I have seen a few topics in this section which clearly hint as how the lack of sportsman spirit runs in our basic thinking. Never accept that fact that we lost fair n square but to look for excuses and blame everything else.

There are posts which say that the contest is fixed, some say HR used his influence !, Pakistan votes were not allowed (which were never there from start and not only for the final), Zee Channel wanted Aneek to win and god knows how many reasons. This all shows what sore loosers we all are.

Cannot accept the fact that the show is over and someone won it because of his talent and genuine support. I mean Aneek had come 1st in voting so many times before so it was not like a bolt from the blue. Plus it was not like he was a bad singer and singing Besura (not a single note missed). Or that he had fans who gave him so much support.

I can only tell all on this Forum and else where that please stop finding excuse and blaming others, accept the fact that Aneek has one it fair n sqaure and your crying over spilt milk will not change a damn. Please dont belittle the competition / The Winner and more importantly his fans, because they are the real reason for his win.

I only pray that as a region we develop some sensibilities when it comes to winning and loosing. There was a dialogue at the end of the Movie Chakde which Preeti Sabarwal tells that BF - GO GET SOME SPORTSMAN SPIRIT ! I think this should go out to the whole Region / the whole Nation / The whole Forum and also to this Section. Amen.

And please by this message I have no intention to hurt anyone. I am just making a comment having seen all this over the years of my life. I am just questioning our mindsets (including myself). When I see the things happening arround (on new channels) I feel depressed And now there is one more thing to add to all the Negativity existing in this world. Something as inconsequential as a reality show, but people are still fighting and burning effigies !

I know this is earth and not heaven but why does this happen so much in our part of the world. This burning of effigies and blame game and bitter games & politics. New Zealand lost in Rugby world cup/ South Africa have always losing cricket world cups but is anyone reacting like that. Even in American Idol when Sanjaya was eliminating good singers, there were no effigies being brnt. We tend to take things too seriously !
I think us being more emotional and sentimental as a part of our genetic composition, leads to such reactions. And the problem is that we all think we are right and others are wrong.
(BTW talking of Australia - India, I was at the stadium yesterday with my husband's friends and the tempers were flaring there too. Chants of Aussies Suck and Symonds is a Bast..d were going through the day) 😆

Reema I have noticed they want to repeat the same thing like a broken record .Imagine on this forum where everyone is educated and if they want go so much out of control and cant control there anger and emotions how can u expect the masses who go berserck and burn effiges and create havoc. We divert our energies in detsructive ways in our language and in actions. What to do we are emotional lot.I guess the mods have to keep giving a crash course on how to be calm and positive so people can stay a lot more balanced.

I agree about he mindset of majority not all...... but I would not define it with our subcontinent..... Its equally true to mankind everywhere in the world......

Looking for excuses is a result of EGO which is not confined to any subcontinent.......

About burning of effigies and stone pelling and all.... except for cricket all such happenings are political in nature....... but i agree that for cricket people became emotional..... but its not confined to whole India again......

why do u think nothing of this sort happened till date to Sachin Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli, or even Ajit Agarkar????

Exactly my sentiments, here we are all educated and from good upbringings and can act with such negativity. So for the masses who dont have a shot at education and struggle to make a living, going over the top is secondary nature. But our resistance levels are decresing by the day.

Kabhi in my title I have said 'most' and not all so I think we agree on that. But i feel its more in subcontinent due to the nature of people. Even now in Bikaner they are burning effigies and protesting on Raja's loss ! I am sure if it was reverse, Bengal would have reacted similarly. Sachin is the God of the game and he is beyond it, but Agarkar effigies were burnt in Mumbai after W cup loss to Bangladesh. Even when Pak lost in T20 final to India & in world cup, there were similar reactions in Pakistan. But now these things are not confined to cricket or politics but spreading to other fields like Music (SRGMP is example) and literature (where books are burnt), Art (MF Hussain is cooling heels outside India). People are loosing their mental balance over small things and are going over board. Similarly people on this Forum are also going to the extreme. Me and my better half have had this discussion a lot and he too shares this view.

Well said Reema. But let me tell you no two people are alike nor do they think alike. Your views border on the saintly side. Don't take it as an offence. But there are more devils in this world than saints. 😉 This is the kalyug where honesty and truth are considered worthless.

Coming to your point, I just would say this, everyone specially Aneek fans think the rest of the supporters are sore losers becoz their favourite lost. But they fail to see that even though Aneek was declared the winner, the results seem suspicous.. They also should accept the fact that the results might have been rigged. There is a possibility. Just becoz your fav was declared winner does not mean the rest of them are sore losers. No doubt Aneek is talented and he also deserved to win this contest.. But the way his fans are behaving on this forum gives me a good laugh. They are behaving like their fav's guru... calling others sore losers and what not.Calling ID nasty names just becoz he dared to speak to the media that the results were tampered.. Come on..
