Winners are normally either humble or arrogant and boastful. But generally most are overwhelmed and happy so they do not complain.šŸ˜›

Summer3, that is semantics. Sore winner is a term used to describe people who do not show grace and dignity in winning. It can apply to the winner or to the people who support him.

Even in American Idol when Sanjaya was eliminating good singers, there were no effigies being brnt. We tend to take things too seriously !
I think us being more emotional and sentimental as a part of our genetic composition, leads to such reactions. And the problem is that we all think we are right and others are wrong.
(BTW talking of Australia - India, I was at the stadium yesterday with my husband's friends and the tempers were flaring there too. Chants of Aussies Suck and Symonds is a Bast..d were going through the day) šŸ˜†

Thats more because we believe in expressing our emotions.. which is how our culture gets us together... if it werent so would you pose your question to a bunch of losers without expecting the worst....😊... Cronje from SA was involved in match fixing... i think u know that... so also many aussies.. the point it when its anybodys guess we cant stop that....

Let me tell you whats the difference bet' US and india. Its turn around time for justice... I remember a incident I think in detroit or chicago where a two guys in truck ran over the curb injuring couple of women sitting there.. Within few minutes there was a mob who lynched the two and killed one of them.. It made be feel like being in india... but then within a week. 5 people who were part of the lynching were sentenced for life on first degree murder....which would take years in india....

Have you seen on thing - With a billion people in india we are doing well. If the same thing happened here.. every state would be lousiana during katrina... this country wont be able to handle teh situation though it is 7 times as large as us..

India is a great country driven by terrific philosophy- if we find some absurd things ... sometimes its not without reason...😊

Exactly my sentiments, here we are all educated and from good upbringings and can act with such negativity. So for the masses who dont have a shot at education and struggle to make a living, going over the top is secondary nature. But our resistance levels are decresing by the day.

As Indians we tend to repudiate losers more then appreciate the winners. It is a paradox because winners sometimes don't feel deserving lot.

they say practice makes a person perfect, but we seem to be in the re-run mode when it comes to this

lose in the WC, pelt rocks at the cricketers home(come-on our cricketers practice this losing habit in every tournamentšŸ˜†, but our public doesnt get better with practice

lose in elections, our politicans are always sully and many a times we dont even wait full 5 years to forget the practice

About reality show, come-oooon you go around after any reality show, and we have like dime a dozen of those

and yaar QwirksšŸ˜† kaha se kaha pahuch jata hai, look in 12-13 weeks SRGMP Lil champs is gonna end it will re-occuršŸ˜†

Qwerty I would just like to tell you that expressing emotions is always welcome and I know one of the reasons for such reactions is the fact that we are emotional. But I do not agree with you when you say that this is our culture, sorry ! Our culture is always of tolerance and forgiveness, this is just simply contratry to our culture. So you can justify this by saying it is Indian Culture. I dont understand as to how Cronje and the truck incident come into this debate. Because I have mentioned as to how we are lacking sportsman spirit and have become bad losers.
Our threshold of tolerance have dipped drastically over the past few years. I mean we need the slightest provocation. Something as small as a reality show sparks such emotions in us that when our fav does not win we just come up with excuses and allegations. Or even worse, carry out protests and burn effigies (like in Bikaner). The media also covers this the best.

The prime example of this would be Ismail darbar, he is crying foul on all news channels and questioning the voting, never can accept the fact that the other guy was also good and had many fans. When Debojit won, he was all praise for the same system which got him 3 cr votes from one state. Thats what I mean when I say Sore Losers'.
I always believe in the following -
Humble in Win and Gracious in Defeat.

Someone also questioned me on if there is anything like a 'Sore winner', and my answer to that is 'Yes'. I would say a sore winner is one who would brag about his victory or discredit the reasons for it. More like rubbing it in the faces of the opponents. A sore looser would never acknowledge the ability of his opponents and would rub his victory on his face.
