I do not respect Indira Gandhi in ayn way because of operation Blue Star😡 Everything from the attack on Golden Temple to attack on other 40 Grudwaras on the same day were ALL pre-planned otherwise how would one know to bomb 40 gurdwaras on the SAME DAY????😕 Indira gandhi's exuse for bombing of the Golden Temple(which btw is the HOLIEST shrine for sikhs) was that there were terrorists hiding in there I really don't understand why attack a temple when you can send your soldiers in to capture the terrorists but whatever let's say it was fine for her to attack the golden temple in order to capture the terrorists but WHAT WAS THE NEED TO BOMB 40 MORE GURDWARAS ON THE SAME DAY??????

Even though i wasn't born in Indira gandhi's time, I still have read numerous books on her by sikh and non-sikh authors and I must say I have a strong disliking for her

i agree

It's NOT one gurdwara we are talking about there were 40 others that were attacked on the same day😭 But PLEASE leave this topic here as i DO NOT wish anymore discussions on it😳 otherwise this topic will get closed too😊

And techinally I am NOT an indian so the question of respecting indira coz she did something for MY country does NOT apply to me😊 I have lots of respect for India but I am NOT blinded by that respect😛

i too don't respect her. she attacked to sikh's holiest shrine. many innocents died. is this what she supposed to do. so you call ''great lady'' to her😔

A leader of a nation should be able to put the feelings of a majority/minority faith over the security of the nation and this is such a rare quality amongst South Asian politicians, she had a lot of missteps in her career like creating the whole crisis with Bhindranwale or the LTTE, but when push came to shove she was willing to put the nation over anything else and desert her personal politics for that, that is something that is admirable

I hate the (Nehru)Gandhi clan, but have to respect her for this, hate her politics, but in a time when we are hardly have any great Indian politicians, she is head and shoulders above others

nation does not include the minoritys? what happened in 1984 was sick and the familied till this day are living int he nightmares of having loved ones burned inform of them, raped all because of her. I am NOT taking areligious stand because the public invovled (no matetr what religion) was harmed because of her huge mistake.

and the nation is greater than the any minority or majority😉

A state only steps into matters regards a community, when the community shows eneptness to handle its own matters internally and at that point the decision maker of the state cannot be faulted😃

Note: I am not mentioning a particular community or a religion here in my post, the member asked and I replied, and I stand by my opinion this is generic, if someone has any doubts, they should have the mods open up the boundaries of allowable discussion and I will illustrate my point
