As things exist I am happy with my religion ie HInduism , it is a way of life, does not imposes restrictions and has withstood the test of time. Basically all religions teach as to be tolerant and love each other ie to be humane. But religion or no religion , we are least tolerant, slightest provocation leads us to commit brutalities. so in that sense we have really not understood what religion is all about
It is the interpretation of religion that is imp.
Yes conversions take place, people may fall in love so want to change their religion, sometimes it is financial allurement as it has happened in some areas in India, some people may change after some aspects of a particular religion appeals to them.
But conversion should be carried with much thought and not for some fad.

Very Thought provoking issue I must say.

I am a Hindu and I would not change my religion for anything in the world either because religion for me is a way of life to be one with God. This is the way I know best and have come to love. I love many things in christianity or Sikhism or Islam. I also realise that there are shortcomings in my own religion as well. However,I am at peace with my religion and know for me this is what I am most comfortable with. There is nothing in any other religion which impresses me enough to change my own religion.

Having said that, I also agree sometimes individuals change their religion and that is entirely their own religion. AR Rehman was a Hindu brahmin before he decided to become a Muslim after his sister was cured by a Sufi saint. I know a Catholic Christian American couple here who have converted to Hinduism after they came across the Krishna movement. I have seen few devoted hindus like them. One of my cousin , born and brought up here has married an American Christian guy but she herself is still a devoted Hindu. And they have decided to let their kid decide what religion he or she wants to choose after it reaches that age.

So in all, religion is entirely an individual's perception. If Akhsha has decided to convert, I am sure she has her own reasons behind it. As for adaptibility, well, only time will tell.

converting to another religion is not something bad, but sometimes people make that decision for the wrong reason. Such as some christian missionaries ask for people to convert to christianity in order to obtain food and prevent starvation. I believe that this is extremely wrong, because the person truly doesnt want to change but due to circumstanses, has to.

on a personal note i am perfectly happy with the way i am, and content with being hindu. Like many others have said, if god wanted me to be born into another religion then god would have done so. Why does religion exsist? because its a way of reaching god, no matter who you believe god is.

I dont think if I marry someone from a differnet religion I will get myself converted to it. I am born a Hindu and will stay with it till death. But of course i will have full faith in my hubby's rituals too and take part in them whole heartedly. I will be happy to celebrate ID, Christmas and Diwali in the same way.

I would never convert and I'd never ask anyone else to convert either. I like being a Hindu:) Religion is very personal and you can't ask someone to change who they are.
