Well its all subjective Mythili..There is no this way or that way which is the right way...Some people are extremely soft but firm at the same time...

But some incompetent people who are so self defensive and lack any inner sense of security, prove themselves to be fools by wearing a fake exterior of harshness/rudeness...

My 2 cents...😊

I remember some years ago I appeared for an interview and maybe I was speaking too softly so the MD asked me..." You required to be aggressive for this job....when was the last time you lost your temper? "...

I got the job but the incident had me thinking...subsequently on many occasions I have consciously tried to project myself as an assertive person...
Yes...softness can be misconstrued...
But again in my work experience so far...being soft and polite works way way better than being aggressive... 😊

I think if a person is not flexible, he is anyway incompetent be it one's inability to sometimes forsake one's "softness" or one's over attachment to "harshness". A competent person can be accommodating as well as firm according to the situation.

(Yes, the use of "accomodating" and "firm" in lieu of "soft" and "harsh" respectively, is intentional)
