INDIA

more than 50% of our population live in rural areas.

I mean yes , u go to the movies for entertainment but then when was the last time we saw a Hindi movie close to reality. Ok maybe abt 1% is close to reality.

otherwise everything is NRI concentrated.

all the big hits are those , more than 50% of our population live in villages, what happened to portraying the real India . Where are movies based on india ,instead all I see is NRI returns or NRI's wearing skimpy clothes speaking in a weird accent and who are rude or the bad guys (utterly wrong portrayal)

what happened to Bollywood which once gave movies like aandhi, sholay, jaane bhi do yaaron , golmaal etc etc so many which was simple and yet enterataining.

A movie like Dhoom 3 which had absolutely nothing in terms of storyline or simplicity was the biggest hit whereas a movie like khosla ka ghosla was just an average grosser.

I know many would say , people go to the theatres to get enteratained but plz we were the same who got entertained by movies like golmaal, sholay, do bhiga zameen, aandhi, anand, aradhana.......etc . These were all based in india yet entertaining and still showing the real india.

Kal ho na ho, Salaam Namaste, JBJ...... so many are just the same. Is this the real India , what happened to simplicity, good storylines, real india , village based stories instead we get to see all these cliched heroines or they have stories based on EMA''s .

I am so dissapointed that we ape the west ( even the west have movies which depict their country and reality) , here we have nothing, just dancing, wearing designer outfits and ofvcourse NRI's

what do u think , will Bollywood get back or get worse.

In Bollywood we have all kinds of movies even now. For every K3G, KANK we have Lagaan, Gadar, Swadesh etc. There was Purab-Pashchim, Love in Tokyo etc. in the golden era too. NRI films is not something of the 90s. It is another matter that most of the films make more money abroad.

Films cater to all kinds of audience and we can choose or ignore the films as per our taste.

I partially agree with Maya. There are many movies of all kind around, and they cater to different people. I think non-commerical movies tend to be more close to reality, but commercially what is sold is the idea of the west.

If your question is why less commerical movies are like that, I think it's because people prefer to watch what has more glam, more shine. People watch movies because they're a mean of geting away from reality rather than watching what you could out on the street. If you're sitting in a dhabba, a movie like JBJ would attract more because you can see streets of Paris. The dream of what can be sells.
