Well there is an English proverb that says To Err Is Human. None of us are perfect and mistakes can be made. However, it depends too on the type of mistake i.e. a spouse cheating. In this case the temptation will always be there to cheat again. I feel a mistake can be forgiven albeit with patience and understanding. It also depends on the extent of a mistake........ as sometimes mistakes can leave deep wounds that may be difficult to heal. How does one forgive an alcoholic spouse who abuses the spouse and swears not to repeat the mistake again? This trait will definitely be repeated.

Also sometimes its easy to forgive............ but its hard to forget and this would make one always on their guard. Just my POV.๐Ÿ˜›

yes you are correct. Deep wounds are not easy to heal๐Ÿ˜Š...... and for such mistakes, if they are gonna be repeated, then its not easy to keep the relations too even if the person takes precautions..... because repeat of such mistakes will leave deeper wounds..... so in such cases I feel that people have to be very sure that the person can change before giving another chance......๐Ÿ˜Š

One can make mistakes yes I agree, but after realizing it for eg. speeding almost took X's life, after recovery he is again upto speeding. Not right!

Perfect eg of doing mistakes even after realization = Addiction or habit.๐Ÿ˜Š

May be or may be not. We all make mistakes and there is lesson learned from them.

Making mistake once and realizing it is good. But repeating the same mistake is called Habit which is POS Plain Old Stupidity IMHO.

We can try to forgive but it is very difficult to forget.

i think it's magnanimous to forgive and forget but that's one's personal outlook. however society cannot always do that - it cant give every first-time criminal/ rapist/ murderer a get out of jail free pass. ok, maybe it can forgive, but it cannot forget to give the guy his due ๐Ÿ˜Š
