Like many people, I was not exactly rapturous about the engagement of the "Country's Hottest Couple". Setting aside my own fondness for Rani Mukherjee 😉, what I was feeling was that this was not exactly a labour of love, but a well thought out move by the Bachchan family to advance its prospects.

Consider this: Amitabh Bachchan has close links with the Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh. The two are inseparable at any function. Amitabh refers to Amar Singh and Mulayam Singh as his "brothers". Yet he denies having an political ambitions. Should we believe him?

Not me....for today I saw an advertisement for Samajwadi Party on a news channel, where Amitabh was passionately advocating the cause of the party. Jaya Bachchan's Rajya sabha seat is under fire on the Office of Profit issue. In effect, her political career doesn't look too roay. Amitabh has already burnt his fingers in politics once. Yet, they know too well that Bollywood can give you only so much influence over people. Real power comes from politics, murky or not.

Consider, also, that the SP is going through its worst phase today. Already slammed for the misadministration of UP and its callous handling of the Nithari case, it now faces Assembly elections in the most influential state in India. The Congress, BJP and the BSP are breathing down its neck.

10 years ago, when the Congress faced extinction, it played its master-stroke: it called Sonia Gandhi to its fold. To add to its appeal, it brought in the younger generation in the form of Rahul and Priyanka. It worked for the Congress. Its fortunes were reversed and it came back to power at the Centre. Today, in Amethi, the SP faces stiff resistance from Rahul Gandhi.

The best way to combat this is to bring in the "new generation" : in this case Abhishek and Ash. Together, they can provide the much-needed facelift to the party traditionally seen as the haunt of goons and landlords. The Bachchans know this all too well, and are probably game. Otherwise, why would the entire family be present at a recent political rally where Amar Singh referred to Ash as the "bahu of UP?"

The journalist from India Today shrewdly commented that maybe, in the coming elections, this bahu would be pitted against another "bahu" : Sonia Gandhi.

The stakes are high, but if SP and the Bachchans play their cards well, the gains will be unprecedented. Where would poor li'l Rani Mukherjee have figured in these massive calculations?😉

QT......Rani is not so articulate and impressive as Ash. She has her own sweet, tender appeal, but she seems the last person cut out for politics. Ash, however, is known for her politically correct statements. Her skills would be invaluable to her in-laws should they wish to go full-time into politics.

Impressive thought process! But I am amused at how we scrutinize the so called stars... see motive behind every move! 😳

😆😆 so true so true..
that's exactly why i said bahu of UP.. not rajyasabha member/ not loksabha member/ not a drama queen, but a real homely gal from UP- all that earlier
is reserved for the ice maiden.
They are TOO BUSY to set a date for the wedding ??? hello??? we couldn't wait! 😆 we were busy tooo.. all doctors and many other professionals have 24 7 jobs.. they find time to set a wedding date!

this is such a POLITICALLY correct, BS wedding IMO.. (now that's my nvmd-worthy statement for all i care 😉)

To start with - you guys wanna say anything, go ahead but please don't say anything against my Rani 😳, good that she is not engaged with Abhi, am very happy, there is still a ray of hope 😉 😆 😆 kiddin

RE: Post

The way you have written the posts with some stats / analysis, am hyponotised to agree with you. However I really don't think MR B would come down to this. If that was the intention then Jaya - DaughtyIL of Harivanshji would have made big in politics. Let them get married first then we can speculate the intentions 😊. Lastly only time can tell the truth.

Haha.. that's true @ let them get married first and then we can speculate.. TRUE @ that..
Blyti and I -both love ur rani 😉. no rani-bash will be entertained 50 miles radius around qt. i don't swim beyond. having digressed adequately,
moving to your view on Mr. Bachchan.
Sr. AB's recent behaviour 1. after release of Guru, 2. after SRK became KBC host, has been abrupt and surprising. Some of his interviews clearly are indicative of a humility lost. I totally loved the guy until now.. 😭.. It is time to let go his humble image. keeping that in mind I suspect that the whole KUNDALI influence has sporadically sent his certain behaviour over the fence between senile and normal.. 😆 Hence, let Time Tell!

we both support ash-abhi wedding indirectly for 2 reasons
1. u get ur rani 😉
2. i get my movies CLEAN and not contaminated with ash's screams and ridiculous on-screen / off screen fake behaviour.. (prevalent except in that one movie with ajay)
we'll seee the extent of political element in the wedding blyti comprehended so well.

Re: MR. Bachchan - I saw his interview where he was grilled on both issues of Ash-AB marraige, SRK taking over KBC -> he responded very nicely, I didn't find him annoying. But there must be something orelse its hard to change QT's mind. Final time will tell.. and we like good bachas will wait for action😆😆

1. yes yes I will keep working on it😳 (in my dream 😆). Thanks though, if u need rest after 50 miles of swimming - my Luxurious cruise will always be there.😊

2. Well, well upon my request to not bash Rani, has taken away right to say anything against Ash, u just got me going for sec.😊 BTW - have u see the song from dhoom2, I guess "barse rey Megha", wat a fantastic song to dance and what a %^% of it. 😛

Yes, let see...

Interesting hypothesis, blyton. But, Rani is pretty politically correct from what I've seen of her (I may be wrong).

There was also a rumour that Rani did not get along with Jaya Bachchan and the latter nixed any possible relationship between Abhi and Rani. Dont know how true THAT is...

In either case, the Bachchans gravitate towards POWER. First it was the Kapoor clan through Karisma and now its Aishwarya, who has a great deal of influence by herself and "chota bhai" Amar Singh.

agree with that stmt Tanaz!

very well written blyton! to the list of things "influence" can buy, lemme just add money. it pays big time these days to have the political bosses on your side. starting with what it can do to one's farmland in Uttar Pradesh bought on the cheap that overnight gets rezoned into commercial land. would handily beat any stint at KBC or the movies.😉 best way to take a measly 1 or 2 cr and make it worth 500 cr for example.😉

as it is, the bachchans were rumored earlier to have had their hand on the cookie jar- with the FERA and Bofors cases. those saw AB make a hasty exit out of politics. pata naheen aur kya gul khilayega😉

and yes, as for Abhishekh, he su*. 😉aishwarya could have done better. much better. silly girl 😊 rani? good. but aishwarya better.😆

hope i didnt start something?😉😆
