Does education make us a better person??

ya surely all these things do change with education.
this is the main problem in india if all the people living here r educated then they will be a better outlook towards things and this will help solve many problems which india is facing now.

Nope, I'm sure there are many people out there who are very well educated but are still impolite and inconsiderate towards others so education doesn't cover every aspect. Although, you can teach etiquette but then again there's only so much you can teach.
I dunno if it's just me but it seems like a trick question like the other one about criticism, i thought that was a trick question too 😕 lol the confusion gets my thoughts spinning in all directions.

Education do makes people see things in a bigger perspective. An erudite with his knowledge and wisdom can broaden his views on various issues and enlighten others whereas someone with less education wouldn't perhaps understand the bigger perspective because of lack of knowledge.

Now I have to go to an important conference so I will come back with a detailed post later.

We had an educated MK Gandhi and Hitler in the first half of 20th century..Not saying education is everything but it helps person do things differently...I think education might have made Adolf Hitler a different person and saved lives.

Very interesting about Hitler, but he was still in education upto the age of 16.
However, is it fair to say those that are uneducated lack the abilities mentioned in the first post?
Most of the things mentioned can be built through experience and education may play a part but i reckon there are many other factors in our lives.

I think education only creates awareness and u can only read it in the books but experience and exposure makes u learn and be a better human being .Not all educated people are good human beings and the same goes for the other , i think experience, exposure and meeting different people with different personalities helps in being a good human being.

Education teaches you to look at the whole world as one place where humans dwell along with other elements of Mother Nature.
The higher you climb the ladder of education, the more HUMBLE it makes you as long as you are a matured human being and not opinionated / pompous/ unwilling to change.
Beauty of research lies in the fact that the pleasure of DISVOVERING something new is so overwhelming, yet what is more overwhelming is the fact that there are many who have done much more useful work than that and MOTHER NATURE is ofcourse above all.
I think GOOD EDUCATION makes one appreciate other people, their accomplishments, their culture, their food, their way of life / religion. Education makes one able to criticize their own faults, shortcomings / misinterpretations of their own religion / way of life and yet respect it, appreciate it and grow with whatever new others have to offer.

Ofcourse bookish education often doesn't help many. Some cannot even adhere to their own thoughts, as the gred of limelight / money / popularity makes them say one thing one day and another the next day - unfortunately many politicians who care for no one but themselves fall in this category.

Quality education is an amazing gift which few fortunate ones receive. I am eager to see OPRAH tonight..

Goodness of heart ofcourse lies in the fact that you did not criticize others, make biassed statements, or overlook the good things they had to offer. Goodness is in that you stood up against discrimination , inspired others to rise against theirs, reached out to the community and spread awareness of such work to inspire others, Goodness is in that you cared for every creature of God, no matter what color, religion, age. And yes, goodness also involves being kind to animals other than humans. It pains me when people abuse animals.

We are so lucky to have amazing examples of educated and good people as well as relatively uneducated yet excellent human beings from a rich history than spans several centuries..
