buttercup, thank you for posting this message, i had been thinking of posting nishabd post here since i wanted to discuss it. i read in news and in some posts that people protested before nishabd was released. i was not having any views at that point about the movie even though i knew what the story was about, old guy falling in love with young girl. but after watching the movie, i told my friend that the movie carried a wrong message. because correct me if i am wrong, i think no father in the world unless the guy is harebrained would try to fall in love with a girl of his daughters age and that too a girl who is his daughters friend. now that girl had some problem. she had developed an attitude of such kind due to her family circumstances and she was trying to attract the guy. due to the guys flexible attitude he gave way to love. i don't think it was a good idea becoz he lost his wife and daughter at the end and the girl too. after this movie, watch out for such stories in reality now if this happens in reality where a father, please read father falls in love with daughters friend then its 🤢 🤢 🤢 but i agree with dabulls who said that this story was not of pedophile and neither it was about love. i am still in a quandary to decide what was their relationship about and might change views after reading some of the facts and views. but i was a little confused at the end

Call me biassed / old-fashioned if you may, but the concept of a married man lurking at younger temptations disgusts me. I am not making a big deal about the age (agree with DBjaan) here although 12 is PUSHING it!! 🤢🤢. Oh BTW , good 👏👏👏 @ he loses his family in the end, because that seems right justice. 👍🏼
Mid-life crisis is one thing, love another and such disgusting behaviour has nothing to do with either. IMO it is therapy-worthy. 😆😆

Mid life crisis of married men and infatuation with younger women was handed very well in American Beauty and that PDP movie. (badee naajuk hai yeh manjil, muhobbat ka safar hai) . The reverse was handled well in Krishna (Shabana Azmi movie - controversial for obvious reasons).

Raunaq, I haven't seen it and I am STILL disgusted. So it's okay for you to feel this way!😉

Qt I agree wtih what you have said. It is disgusting. Even though the girl isn't shown to be 12 years old in the movie, but just the fact she's his daughter's friend is repulsive.
I had seen American Beauty a long time back and I hadn't understood it then. But I know I hadn't liked it. I don't remember much so can't comment on the mature handling. It's just the subject that leaves me disturbed.😕

Shabd means word. and Ni I think is to negate it... so it means wordless, I guess.
Like speechless..... Now is this the title for the characters or for the audience reaction I don't know

😆 😆 😆 wanted to point out one more thing, just my views here, the guy fell in love with youth becoz he feared old age, if he wanted to live a life of youth he could have lived it through his daughter, he could have spent more time with his daughter.

@ MayaM: Yes Maya, even I remember it as a remake of an old classic and, if I am not mistaken, Lolita was also based on a novel (but I am not sure about it). Anyways, whenever you have a movie based on a controversial literature, the main essence is somehow lost in picturization as movie can focus only on the main incidents/general plot within a novel/book. As most of the smaller nuances from the novel, that give the main theme an entirely different meaning, are missing in the movie, it is easy to misinterpret the whole theme of the movie. Same happened to the DaVinci Code. I think the movie comes no where close to the gripping thriller that I read.

I still have to see Nishabd and I have to also make sure whether Lolita is a novel or not. If it is, then I would like to read it before jumping on any "pedophile" and "immoral" conclusions drawn by some of the debaters here. 😊

Gauri, RGV wanted us to believe that he is making a remake of classic Lolita. Lolita was controversial in its time because of the storyline. The story goes like this 'an older guy falls for his female colleague's 12-13 years old daughter and he marries this colleague to have an illicit relationship with her daughter.

But after reading Dabull's review it is clear that the story is a copy of Poison Ivy where the girl is jealous of her friend's loving family and tries to seduce him. Black too portrayed an older guy smooching a much younger woman and the kind of relationship they shared was not revealed to us. But in this case RGV made a sleaze movie🤢. In search of creativity he has gone from good to bad to worse.
