I saw this movie about 3 wks back and here are my personal 2 cents on it. SOme may agree and some may not.

Movie was OK. Direction was Very poor and music was aweful. Why did they have to call this relationship "Love" in this movie Did not see the song AB sings. I was bit disappointed abt that.

Jiah was a confused girl coming from broken family. She hated her father leaving her mom, her & the marriage. She hated every part of her life in Australia with her mom. She was looking for love in AB since he was old like father's age. Confused that feeling-attraction for love. She was crying for love and attention. She was subconciously jealous of her friend Ritu having perfect family life while she did not have family. She could not wait to bring trouble to that family. Her fav line "Take Light". She hated her father for breaking up her family. She does not know what love is and who is right for her. Trouble child. Very natural for her to fit into this role since sort of story of her own life.

Now AB also felt some feelings for this young lady. She made him feel young. Brought that youth back to him. Made him feel all those feelings which he had not felt in ages. So this was his confusion too. He should have been the matured one between the two of them and stopped her and guided her since she had no farher figure in her life. Instead he encouraged that behaviour. He did not even feel empathy or sympathy for his wife and daughter who he had hurt by his So called love for this girl. At the end of the movie he thinks he was doing right by being rude to Jiah in kicking her out of the house. WHy could he not stop the whole thing from the beginning and put proper perspective to things.

Both their feelings were genuine for each other but they definitely were not "Love" which is felt between a man and a woman. One thing I can say that AB never felt lust for this young girl. His feelings were genuine.

Both acted their role well. I though Jiah played her part very well.

One thing for sure AB's character was no pedophile. SOme people are calling his character that name. I think the topic for the movie was good but it should have been portrayed differently which is not calling it LOVE. These things are happening in real life. But why is always NRI is portrayed in bad role?? Why did they not show Jiah being from India instead of Australia??

Last but not least the actress who played role of Ritu who is "Shradha Arya" the runner up from Zee cinestart ki khoj "India's Best" from last yr. She acted very well in this movie.

Now lets hear it from others. 😃

Few days back when Nishabd was released, that day on Zee News i saw a group of people carrying Big B's posters in their hands protesting in a way, they were not happy with the movie by the message conveyed.

They had taken out their chappals and destroyed the poster, and finally they put fire on it as well showing their anger for the role he had done it.

It is true that actors are doing their job, they get paid for it too!
But the question is Big B being the legend of today for many people out their, is it the right choice for him at this time?

KANK was criticized a lot because it was about extra marital affairs, saying that the movie conveyed a wrong message to audience.!

Big B to go and do a movie falling in love with a gurl of 18 years ?
Is the message conveyed through the film okay?

Its a movie yaar, Does anyone think when Rajnikanth lights his cigaratte by shooting a gun, is it possible?

Before Amitabh came along, his kind of dancing would be ridiculed, now?

On Second thoughts, hopefully same happens with Nishabd, we oldies can have something to look forward too😆😆😆

@Dabulls: RGV maintained that this is a remake of old classic yet controversial Lolita. But after reading your review it seems more like Poison Ivy🤢.

@ MayaM: Yes Maya, even I remember it as a remake of an old classic and, if I am not mistaken, Lolita was also based on a novel (but I am not sure about it). Anyways, whenever you have a movie based on a controversial literature, the main essence is somehow lost in picturization as movie can focus only on the main incidents/general plot within a novel/book. As most of the smaller nuances from the novel, that give the main theme an entirely different meaning, are missing in the movie, it is easy to misinterpret the whole theme of the movie. Same happened to the DaVinci Code. I think the movie comes no where close to the gripping thriller that I read.

I still have to see Nishabd and I have to also make sure whether Lolita is a novel or not. If it is, then I would like to read it before jumping on any "pedophile" and "immoral" conclusions drawn by some of the debaters here. 😊

Dabs, very balanced review. Based on Sound's post below, I think the director did change the plot a little to make it less controversial. I'll know better after reading the book.

Yes Lolita is a novel. A friend of mine who had started reading it left it midway coz the language used is too sexually explicit. From what I was told, the book isn't a comfortable read. So I for one, feel better off without reading it.
Here's what Wikepedia has to say:
Lolita (1955) is a novel by Vladimir Nabokov. The novel was first written in English and published in 1955 in Paris, later translated by the author into Russian and published in 1967 in New York. The novel is both internationally famous for its innovative style and infamous for its controversial subject: the book's narrator and protagonist Humbert Humbert becoming sexually obsessed with a pre-pubescent twelve-year-old girl named Dolores Haze.

@ Sound: Thanks for the info Sound. I'll check the novel out and then decide whether I want to see the movie or not....but obsession with a 12 yrs old is already disgusting me 🤢
