Suppose something wrong is happening around you..

Say.. you see a car hitting a man on the road n running away

Or a guy teasing a girl publicly

or any other kind of crime

What would you do??

Would you just keep quiet and let it happen coz it has nothing to do with you?

OR

Would you, without thinking of the consequences, take action against it?

What do you think is the right thing to do?

What if you are in that situation (i.e any crime happening with you) what do you think others should do?

Want to know the truth...nobody comes forward when you need them and if somebody does then you're real lucky.

I'll tell you a fact. In June 2004 I was planning to leave B'lore. The night before I left I was mugged in a residential area by three poeple. I fought with them and yet nobody came out to help. Someone switched on their porch light and then again switched it off. All those policemen travelling on their Fiero bikes painted and named 'Cheetah' were nowhere to be seen though it was near a busy crossroad. Finally I was exhausted and had to give up.

I don't know what I would do in the situations you described, only time will tell. In general, NO, I don't believe people will come forward to help you, they are too busy with their own life anyway to see what is happening around them.

Star on Earth ji!!!

All your questions are very Practical but people(including me) don't respond to any situation or don't take risk unnecessarily even if it causes worry ,with the fear of further consequences!!!

LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP
😆

I have responded to eve-teasing in a tough way. Once I had slapped a guy so hard that two of his tooth came out and he was bleeding profusely (I am a black belt). There are many incidents were my friends and I have jumped to the rescue of other girls. But those were the days when you are free spirits living in the hostel with parents pumping in the money. Now with a family I would be too conscious to get into these things. It is also about the time and convenience. Just 2 months back there was a minor accident on the road and the driver was hurt. I was driving by and I called 911. Here things are easier that way. If it was in India I would hesitate to take the victim in my car as I dread the consequences attached with it.

Have to agree on this fact that here things are much easier , compare to back home .

but one thing I also find interesting that in my college life if any boy got into trouble usually people avoid getting into it untill it is related to some student union or so .. but if a gal is in trouble so many offered their help😆.

On one occasion a gal complain about a boy chasing her from college to home. and the next time he was in ER with broken nose .

but during internship when a boy was beaten by a bunch of people the rest of the boys simply ran away.

It depends on the situation. If you are afraid of your own security, then I would let it go.

I like to share something which happened to my friend & me in US. Few years back while returning from the university we were stopped by 3 Mexicans with a knife and asked to handover the cash and jewelry we had. There were people walking by but these muggers asked us to quietly handover the things and walk without turning back. We were so petrified. We gave them whatever cash we had and our rings and quietly walked off and decided never to discuss it again. After few days we learned that these guys have made it a regular practice. Then we e-mailed the University security and asked others tot join in. After that I never followed it up but didn't see them again.

thanks all for replying too...

I agree with you all that this is not practically correct… nobody wants to get into an unwanted trouble…frankly speaking I myself would think twice before helping somebody…but morally speaking I think this wont b right.. I mean if we humans don't help each other then who will? N besides eve teasing in not the only crime I m talking bout here.. helping others could be for various other reasons… for various other circumstances that we see everyday…

Btw… let me tell you why I came up with this topic in the first place, when I myself don't believe in it completely……the thing is during one of our lectures (in college) our sir told us this one incident which happened with him…. He was traveling in a bus in India…and the conductor of the bus was constantly teasing this one girl who was all by herself… she obviously cudnt do much to stop him…. now the while the bus was filled up with ppl…and everybody seeing wats happening…nobody really came forward.. my sir didn't like it too…he wanted to stop this conductor…but was hesitant…. In the meanwhile one of the other guys (who was also in the bus) approached this conductor and asked him to stop it… the conductor obviously not liking it asked him why he was interfering and whether that girl was his sis…(kind of making some rude remarks at him) but the good guy was adamant and spoke very strongly…. Seeing him all the other passengers joined him... now the conductor got really scared by them and stopped teasing….

Now do you think if that guy had not initiated would the conductor have ever stopped??? All I mean here is sometimes its really necessary to take up matters in your hand…without thinking bout what others would say, will anything happen to me and why should I bother. What if the same thing happens to one of us….wouldnt we expect others to come forward??
I know nobody does that…and nobody wants to do it…but isn't this wrong?
