Sebi on February 4 said it was committed to ensuring the stock market's integrity and all necessary surveillance measures were in place to address any excessive volatility in individual shares.

Without naming Adani group specifically, the capital markets' watchdog said in a statement that unusual price movement in the stocks of a business conglomerate has been observed in the past week.

Sanger said investors need to make sure there's 'complete clarity' on what the government would do with respect to the Adani Group stocks. "The India growth story is not an Adani group story," he mentioned.

This follows the beating witnessed by Adani group stocks on bourses after the US-based short seller Hindenburg Research made a litany of allegations, including fraudulent transactions and share price manipulation, at the Gautam Adani-led conglomerate. The Adani group dismissed the charges as lies, saying it complies with all laws and disclosure requirements.

Valuation guru Aswath Damodaran believes that Adani Group, despite all its flaws, remains competent in India's infrastructure space that's full of incompetent players. He pegs the fair value for the stock at Rs 947.

"It is possible that Hindenburg was indulging in hyperbole when it described Adani to be 'the biggest con' in history. I am puzzled that Hindenburg's short thesis spends as much time as it does trying to convince us that the company is over-levered. Being over-levered is not a con game, but a risk that equity investors in many investments take to increase their returns," Damodaran wrote on his blog on February

Indian Stock markets are reeling under pressure, still in red, lost 450 points and the banking sector lost 103 points. Fitch Ratings says, Indian Banks' margins face pressure.

Market volatility is also on expected lines, it will take time to settle this dust.

If I am not wrong this short selling firm had also bet against Elon Musk's take over of twitter.

But overall — networking is at the end of the day a business reality. So are communities supporting each other - no matter where you go in the world. With so many variables in life — commonality finds a way to work together and that is just human nature (not always casteism etc).

Coming back to topic of Adani … I saw some investors speak up about their due diligence at time was investment and everything checked out.

Anyone wondering about the timing of this report. Sooo close to him about to raise equity ? if he is found fraudulent I am sure we will say. It was good. So many got saved. But if not … then … what is the consequence to the short selling form ? 🤔🤔🤔

either way. One hopes that Indian regulators and oversight bodies across the board come out stronger regardless of the outcome …

Hi, I'd not revisit this topic but I'd appreciate if you could statistically substantiate in which parts/pockets/areas of India does caste(ism) not exist? And, yes, while communities supporting themselves seems to be an apparent truth; the basis of community in India is, at large, religion, and caste on a fundamental level. Even religions that do not have caste prescribed in their scriptures have manifested caste in South Asia— Syed/Pasmandas; Syrian Christians/Dalit Christians; Khatri Shikhs/Jatt Sikhs/Ravidasi Shikhs/Mazhabi Sikhs etc.

When you say that networking is a part of business and not necessarily a function of caste(ism), it fails to acknowledge that these networks or "commonalities" were historically built on the principle of caste exclusion. We cannot just wipe out 3000 years of history and say that "commonalities" were forged in the past 3 decades of liberalisation and globalisation singing Kumbaya on Disney channel. The blindspot is very much telling, and I say this as a uc person.

Also, casteism and racism are not interchangeble phenomena. And both of these phenomena are pretty much systemic in their respective societies.

An NRI can very much be a victim of racism and still be a casteist in the diaspora. In fact, it has been so :
