as for Jana Gana Mana being originally in bengali, thats true. But it's never been more popular than when it got adopted as our national anthem... in Hindi

Jinko english imposition se problem nahi hai unko hindi se bhi nahi honi chahiye. Waise bhi metros ke outside jyadatar hindi hi chalti hai aur boli ya samzi jati hai. Not only in india, Hindi is mahorly spoken and understood by majority subcontinent people.

If there is any other south language that can match upto the reach and recognitoin hindi has, they should also do bidding along with hindi to be recognised as a natoinal language. But the fact remains that mahority of indians dont know exactly which language is spoken in which south state. So forget about any of them being even considered for the spot at national level.😆

totally agree. Ajay might have his own personal motivations but he is not wrong imo. Point remains that hindi is the most widely-spoken/ understood language in India.... if one includes its close derivatives that are easily understood. Yes every language makes our country beautiful but unless we want to balkanize the country, we really need to get over the huge sensitivities of trying to just stick with our own language/ ethnic/ state identities. It's great to hold on to regional culture but for economic/ social cohesion, it would be better if we ADDED a more universal language like hindi.

as for regional films doing better recently or even being better than hindi films, that may be the case. But it's not relevant imo. They are still languages spoken by a minority.

Reminds me of the meme that with this logic, Crow should be our national bird and Cow, national animal. 🤣

lol how so- is the crow that popular in your experience? 😆

if you ran a popularity contest and people had to choose just 1 language, it would be hindi hands down.

it's like if you are asked who you are, do you start off by saying you are telugu or tamil? I hope the answer is you'd say you're Indian. We should think nation first, regional identities last. Latter is the stuff that divides people, not integrates.

And yes, there are countless examples including currency union where europeans gave up their ghetto-type provincial preferences for one common unit. And it served the greater good. We should similarly strive for that with language.

Wrong. The reason Jana Gana Mana was adopted from Bharata Bhagya Bidhata was because the original song was popular pre independence and was sung at various places including the night of India gaining independence. It became our national anthem only because the original song played a huge part in the azaadi movement and was hugely popular throughout the country. You can read up on the history of the song, Tagore and it's effects on Pre-independence India for more information of the same.

So nope it HAS been more popular before it was adopted as the national anthem. I mean that's the whole reason why this song was adopted as the national anthem.

Also nope, the Jana Gana Mana we sing is not in Hindi. It's Sanskritized Bengali . No one has translated the song in Hindi. We sing exactly what was written by Tagore. The only translation done of the anthem is English which has been translated by Tagore himself.

Why should Hindi become a National language...because its spoken in larger scale. So all other minorities shouldn't be prioritized because it's not in a larger scale..then why not Dogs be the National animal instead of Tiger!

This shows thier mindset..why the hell they wanted to unify a country which is United already! I can't let my language die for some other language. I dont want to know Hindi! Who the hell are u people to come and impose Hindi on us! Our education, economy is far far better than many Hindi spoken belts. Concentrate on ur own state and look at ur people. India is not just metro cities. People doesnt need ur Hindi to grow. They need employment, food and good education. Everyone are convenient in thier mother tongue and with English..All we need is science and scientific knowledge to grow ! Each language has it's own philosophies, great novels incorporating it's own culture.just because few hitech morons feel Hindi is superior doesnt mean it should be accepted!! We are not drinking cows urine for medicines unlike in Uttarpradesh!

It's like a dog barking at the sun because they are more in number and cant bear the sun shining!

People here are questioning the idea of Hindi unacceptance down the south...The answer is very simple, " They have brains and they know what and how much Hindi is beneficial "

Someone is questioning why the hell people are in Bollywood forum and not in southern forums, because Hindi is seen only as a language of entertainment! Nothing more, nothing less! But my mother tongue is not just a language for me,its my identity! If u guys snatch our identity and force us to live like a nomad speaking ur Hindi then it's unfair and ur killing someone's soul. Language is like ones breathe! It is what I am..

I am happy that I am an Indian because this Nation accepted me and my fellows with our own culture and heritage and now if u want to impose ur language,ur culture then what's the point of calling this as a democratic and secularist Nation.

Dont break the bones and expect us to run! Dont touch on our language or our state. Like how Religion is important to many, for people from south its thier state and language that is above than anything.

Be proud of ur own language and let it grow! Only when a language is learnt and research is done it will grow and thus our culture grows!

If Hindi is your language, keep it to urself and help the language grow.,the same goes to other languages too.

If we cant respect and stay within our limits then this Nation wont be a Nation anymore!

Too much of verbal diarrhoea here. Never understood the fact that how is Hindi imposed on Southern states?? Just how? Do they make you speak hindi on Gunpoint or do they not give out any policy benefits because u don’t speak Hindi? Also the terms u have used for Hindi belt people, you should be ashamed of that. If not, I feel sorry for you. There should be mutual respect for all languages without any exceptions.

Ran popularity test where ? It’ll not win in South States, in Bengal or Orissa that I can guarantee.

Who told you the later divides people and not integrates ? Which India are you talking about ? I’d rather prefer people read the original History and then Constitution of India first before wanting a change so that they can evaluate their demand is aligned with the basic core of India or not.
