And the way the police just forcibly burned her body with parents crying and media right there, would that have happened if she were of upper caste. Very unlikely. Rape victims are all treated horribly in this country but this is a new level of horror, to not even be given the decency of a funeral. I guess and I am sad to use this wording.. some rape victims are infact more privileged than others. Atleast they get a decent funeral.

I also said that yesterday because I felt the news people were trying to take the attention away from this girl by politicizing it. Priyanka Reddy belonged to upper caste and her culprits belonged to the lower caste. The bottomline is its the powerful preying on the powerless and the pain that the girls went through is one and the same. But those who are saying that the casteism doesn’t exist, they need to wake up to the reality. It exists in each and every aspect of the Indian lives. 🤢

I would understand your point of politicizing it for a particular agenda which does happen if the perpetrators did not have a history of harassing dalits. The god is in the details, I say. If Priyanka Reddy's perpetrators had the same history of targetting upper caste hindus, it would be a hate crime even then.

If you look at minority castes everywhere be it Punjab, UP literally anywhere sexual violence has been used as a tool to put minority women in place by upper caste men for ages. These men did the same.
