We always hear our politicians tell us, India would be a superpower in the 21st century

With the growth we see in various sector we are progressing immensely, however if you look at the social structure, we are divided along the caste, religion lines, further more we are also divided along regional bounds, as very well demonstrated by programme's such as SRGMP. There is no effort to bridge the gap, but the politicians seem to be adding fertilizers to all this divisions.

We have reservations in place for 55-58 years, the caste barrier is not(oops sorry typo there😆) getting erased. Our poor class is getting further seperated from the affluent class and the numbers are growing on either side

When the British left the country, they were very pessimistic towards the future of this country with so many languages, so many religions, so many regions.

Are we seeing it come true?

I look at India and think, This seems to be a country with a speed of light working towards ..............

A. Disintegration

OR

B. Prosperity

what do you think?

FYI: We are all patriots, just need an honest evaluation😃

brilliant topic sareg! I don't think India will disintegrate. However, the diversity will hamper its progress towards becoming the next super-power.

Unity in Diversity is a myth greater than SantaClaus coming down the chimney.

absolutely true!!! Pigs may fly instead!!

Unless all of us start thinking of ourselves as Indians and not Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Andhrites etc. or as Muslims, Christians, Hindus etc., or as Brahmins, Vysyas etc. and more importantly unless unscrupulous politicians stop playing the caste and religion games the country will not unify.

India progressing towards what?

Diversity is not necessarily evil, and the divide and rule political militia is here to stay. Outdated religious beliefs, irrational social values coupled with rampant population and scarce resources are the greatest demons that require fight against. India has been carrying this burden for long long time and its getting heavier only as time goes on. However education is the silver lining and the greatest strength. Look at the educated Indian middle class and the wealth it has brought to itself in or even outside India through past few decades. The brain drain from India is slowly sucking up wealth of developed nations and if the trend continues it would create wonders inside country too. I'm not sure from the present course if disintegration or prosperity is the ultimate destiny for India but I'm positive we can achieve the later.

India is progressing towards eliminating clothes. It is quite apparent when I watch movies and serials.
