Dear Friends!!

Privacy and secrecy are two different things.

Let me give the general definitions:

Privacy is the ability of an individual or group to keep their lives and personal affairs out of public view, or to control the flow of information about themselves. Privacy is sometimes related to anonymity although it is often most highly valued by people who are publicly known

Secrecy is the practice of hiding information from others. That which is kept hidden is known as the secret. Secrecy is often controversial

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Privacy

Do you give importance to privacy? or do you say its not a big issue!!

Do you have some private things which you don't share even with your family members and friends?

What's the limit to privacy?

Can children have privacy? Is'nt it harmful?Does'nt it lead to secrecy

Is there any specific age to allote privacy to children?

Please feel to share your thoughts, don't keep them secret.

Cheers,

Mythili

Do you give importance to privacy? or do you say its not a big issue!!

It is a pretty B-I-G issue for me......at least! i know .. i sound too westernized in this manner [my mom tells me everytime] ... but please.. i want my space too... i mean there are some matters which i am comfortable discussing in public.. and some not! So i may be having a sign board saying "Do not interfere in my matters, please!" but people [ desi people.. yeah.. im gonna get a heavy blow from DMers😛] don't sit quiety unless and until they gossip about others matters regardless of what is happening in their own house.... but its a fact.. i remember some time ago we discussed this at DM😆..

Do you have some private things which you don't share even with your family members and friends?

I don't think so... but there are some matters which i don't discuss with my friends but my family knows.. and some in which my friends are involved but my family isn't.. but on the whole my parents know each and every important thing of my life... so i guess i might hide some things in my professional life as it will get bit stressful.. Does that come in secrecy??😕😕

What's the limit to privacy?

I think Any thing which you are uncomfortable discussing in public is its limit.😊

Can children have privacy? Is'nt it harmful?Does'nt it lead to secrecy

Children have to be quite open to parents...they should discuss their day-to-day matters with parents as they give necessary suggestions for improvment.. but with outsiders children MUST be CAREFUL not to reveal each and every detail of their family as it may have got disastrous effects later on

Is there any specific age to allote privacy to children?

when children become adults and be independent... i think its time for them to fly on their own wings... they will come to parents to discuss/ take suggestion on their private matters when they feel like doing it

Please feel to share your thoughts, don't keep them secret.

Still you are not asleep 😲

Do you give importance to privacy? or do you say its not a big issue!!

Yes, it is a big issue for me.

Do you have some private things which you don't share even with your family members and friends?

Yes 😆, but I guess I'll share everything with my (honewali) soulmate. 😉

What's the limit to privacy?

There is no specific limit to privacy...it should be left on the person concerned to decide it.

Please feel to share your thoughts, don't keep them secret. 😆

Privacy is definitely inportant. We are essentially social creatures and find comfort in company, but we are individuals at the end of the day. Each of us has different thoughts, priorities and our own lives, some part of which are so perssonal that we'd rather not tell anyone.

Do you have some private things which you don't share even with your family members and friends?
Ofcourse I do! You'd be lying if you'd say that you share everything with everyone. There are certain things which my family knows, while my friends don't. While others are known to my friends, but not to my family. So it all depends upon what I'm comfortable in sharing with different groups of people.

Plus, privacy to some extent is good too. What's wrong with it? I don't want my deepest desires to be known by all, thus i keep them to myself and others should respect my decision.

What's the limit to privacy?
It's limitless, it just depends upon how much one is comfortable with sharing!

Can children have privacy? Is'nt it harmful?Does'nt it lead to secrecy
Children essentially should be frank with their parents. But for that the parents need to be open-minded to listen to what their wards have to say. They should not be ticked off or get angered if their teenager talks to them about their crush/ asks them about intimacy.

It's best to be open with your parents. It'll make you grow as a person, dispel your doubts/fears and also form a lasting bond. Plus, it'll teach you a great lesson in trust!

Is there any specific age to allote privacy to children?
Privacy isn't something that can be distributed like toffees, nor it is like a serial that has to start at a particular time. It's upto the parents to decide how much privacy to give to their kids. If they trust their child, and if they communicate well with the child, they'd have nothing to fear even if their ward demads privacy

BTW a GREAT DISCUSSION TOPIC! 😊
I'd like to add that sometimes you have to be secretive in life too, for your sake and for the sake of others, because in life theer is never a one right and one wrong. What maybe right from my perspective maybe wrong from yours and vice versa!

To keep some thing Personal, is a bit different from Seceracy.... bcoz we never share our personal affairs with some1 but for Secret, iuts better to share them with atleast some1(eg.Friend, a speacial one, life partners)......coz Secrets are less secrets then private and Privacy is a bit more Secret then secerecy..............
