I will check this show then, K. My guilty pleasure is Big Boss, it's just so funny watching humans react like that and all of it for their aspirations. 😆

Happy Diwali, everyone!! 🥳

How's it going Mr. K, long time.

No, I get that. I was mostly lamenting that from the land of Ramanujan, some people couldn't even answer the question correctly.

I am hanging in there.

Good to see you near 400 posts under this avatar. You must be behaving!

Feels like it's been a while! Hope you're all keeping well :)

Interesting to see all these politicians being exposed. Can of worms waiting to be opened here.

Also, awful decision my May employing her chief whip as the new defence secretary. Can't help but think it's just a matter of time before she's out.

$450 million dollars for a painting! Makes you question so many things in life.

Well, I've never understood how people fix monetary values for much about anything be it a painting, an antique piece, a sportsperson, an actor...you name it.
While pricing an equipment or any consumable its understandable that the cost of manufacturing , infrastructure, staff salaries, overheads need to be accounted for breaking even , plus some more to keep things sustainable but anything beyond that seems highly questionable. Profit as motive ...well yes, but is there or should there be a limit to that? Brings the cost of drugs and devices to mind.

Demand vs Supply may send the prices soaring but astonishing to see what drives demand in some cases as these!

In the securities market, valuations are determined by what the buyer is willing to pay a seller. Most of these "art" collections are considered securities and are thus "investable". For example, the last guy who bought this painting paid about $175 million dollars and now turned it over for a nice tidy profit.

The market for works by "old masters" such as Da Vinci, is supposed to be falling; this particular painting proved to be an exception.

One saving grace here is that a commoner would never be swindled in these types of trades. Only the rich stick it to one another.

Record price for "investable security" and yet an "anonymous" buyer... for security !?
