Let me break a news to you. Not just Kashmir, Muslims in other parts of India are becoming increasingly conservative and radicalised. Bengali Muslims earlier were mostly indistinguishable from Bengali Hindus except for a few conservative families in Kolkata. They had same dress, same language. Now skull caps, beards, short pajamas, burqas have become the norm. Every day there is an Islamic religious meeting somewhere or the other with aggressive speeches. Every few days there is some kind of rioting by them. There is a sudden spurt in Muslim population in Assam and West Bengal in the last few years, most probably from across the border. The problem is not Kashmir, problem is Muslims themselves and the various political parties which are choosing to ignore their transformation to radicalism in the name of secularism.

^^Souro- I am aware of all that but you cannot deny that given last 4 years..especially couple of years..the situation is very tense there. This kind of mass agitation against Govt. was never there , you can see the dropping by election voting percentage. Singh's last year set the tone but Mufti-BJP alliance ignored the simmers and allowed it to flame so much.
Somewhere down the line , Govt has erred majorly in governance as well. Situation in WB is because Mamta is ignoring it for her vote-bank . The silence of PM when people are killed by vigilantes doesn't help the matter.

There is no political solution for Kashmir , which is why it becomes essential for any Govt. to be more proactive there.

Knew it, Gaikwad -Air India controversy ends in the usual manner..SS threatens a Minister..Govt. pushes AIr India to lift the ban and all is normal in desh. Have said this before will repeat, this Govt. lacks spine .

its all relative.😛 Would any other govt have shown more spine? I dont think so. As for Gaikwad, he wont be pulling this stunt anytime soon. The previous govts would not even have convicted criminals in jail. They had the likes of Spectrum Raja, Chor Lalu get out in quick time, and yet you are calling out this govt for making a public example out of this guy which no other govt did?

i also dont agree with your comments about policies. This govt had the guts to go for demonetisation which imo was a much-needed measure. They now have data on all the scum-bags who hid taxes.

Ditto for policies with regards to WB, Kashmir. The previous govt left everything in a mess- foreign policy, home security, finances. And then, so much of the sh** is ingrained in Indians. Imagine a PM of a country and a CM of a state like UP having to make cleanliness, ban on open defecation an issue. The country was left to the dogs and it'll take a while to clean it up of the sleazebag oily chiddu/ tharoor types who talk smart but are full of it.

and just to be totally disagreeable😆, i also dont find anything wrong with the cultural tone being set by the govt. Issues like these give us a sense of identity and help drive up patriotic/ nationalitsic fervor.😊

^^Birdie, http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/chaos-in-lok-sabha-after-sena-mps-protest-flying-ban-on-ravindra-gaikwad/articleshow/58044906.cms Govt. got arm-twisted in the Parliament to allow this man to fly. The Home Minister had to intervene and assure Shiv Sena of settling the issue - http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/will-find-amicable-solution-soon-govt-on-gaikwad-ban-issue/articleshow/58046017.cms

Such cases have been happening earlier too...the Govt's response was nothing exceptional or different. This guy's posters are all over Maha State and he is more popular now Your ministers with their response on this has shown enough how much spine they really had.

Demonetization is a failed policy. We can argue all we want but the last 4 months Govt statements, the backtracking ..are more than enough. Only few individuals faced raids and yet no major person, organization has been nabbed. Just like Swach Bharat Abhiyan or Skill India, this policy had all the hype but fizzled because of lack of planning and governance . The most eminent reform was the banking one, which has been pending since forever. 95% of this Govt's policies are re-hash of UPA's work.

Your Defence Minister was horrible and the fact that he approved/sanctioned very few projects and continued stalling key negotiations is all known. Wonder how Modi is handling this ministry now.

Pakistan- Inspite of the "strikes", we have lost more soldiers since then. You have not put any major pressure ,you haven't even taken the favoured nation status off Pakistan.

Kashmir- Till 2012, Kashmir was recovering well..tourism increased and so did the voting percentage but since then and especially since this Mufti Govt, things have gone worse and beyond.

China- Lets not talk about how it has been snowballing us all the time.

When I say this Govt lacks spine , it means given the mandate and the fact that it will come to power again in 2019 has not done any major and relevant steps nor has it followed through with implementation with the policies it had initiated.

If the Govt or us want to talk about Muslims then we must talk about the cow vigilantes and lets not even get into the appointment of Yogi Adityanath. Or the racism cases in Noida and all over India. Still waiting for Modi's policies about this.

For me cultural aspect is all well if it doesn't mean Ministers' making obnoxious statements like cow killers will be hanged or how South Indians are black people and underplaying their citizenship.

Modi has got Rajya Sabha too, lets hope the excuse that opposition stalls projects doesn't last.

Pak's kick-ass idea: Export donkeys to China

Pakistan is planning to sell donkeys to China in its 'Donkey Development Programme', in a bid to attract Chinese investors in the northwestern Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.

^^ Charmin': disagree with you across the board.😊

first, Modi does not have the Rajya Sabha. Yet. It will take a couple of years before the UP win is fully reflected in the numbers because of the way members are staggered. Even then, it wont be a majority.

second, what's wrong with Yogi? Dont like his military style crewcut or his fashion colors? 😆He seems to be a good administrator, and UP can start with that. He is talking about safety for women and doing something about it. That alone would more than make up for all the stuff the sickulars can throw against him.

third, demonetisation has been a success. You have all that money come back into the system. Earlier, it was lying dormant. Lowers interest rates that can fuel investment. And some of it will be used to track the scumbags who hoarded black money. It will widen the tax net from the couple of percent we have now to more. People are now on notice that they can try to hide, but cant run from the tax man.

fourth, the govt allowed the Gaikwad thing to stretch out for quite some time. Earlier we have had politicians thrash up people and the news would die out after a day or two. Not this time. Gaikwad ka mooh kala hua hai. 😆 Makes no sense to now put him on a permanent ban. Voters will/ should kick him out next time if this episode is important to them. If they are too stupid to do so, dont blame Modi for it.

China/ Pak etc- nothing India would have done would have helped ease relations with them, short of handing them a victory. These states dont care about right/ wrong, morality. The strikes at least assuage our sense of justice and puts them on notice. Along the same lines, throwing out the idea of doing away with no first-strike when it comes to nukes changes things. Puts some teeth into ourdefense posture, balls that the previous govt did not have. 😊

^^ The aim of cashless economy is in a glitch because people have gone back to hording cash, Govt is introducing a 200 note in June, most probably...and your Govt is clueless about how much money it gained and what happened to the black money. Apart from few, insignificant raids nothing has changed. Apart from the middle class, there is no fear of Tax men..I think the demonitization experiment proved it well. But lets agree to disagree.
Yes, I have problems with Yogi and even with Nitish Kumar. You don't run a state in prohibition and I can bet well that nothing in UP will change..ever, thats the sad truth.

The Kulbhushan news is Pakistan's way of saying FU to us.

Modi in his need to be the "Only one" has made many of his ministers redundant. Rajnath has been pretty much a failure - J&K, N-E and what not. Jaitley- let me know one person in financial chambers who is happy with him. Sushma- Able but is reduced to sorting out work that should be done by Embassies .

But then we can always agree to disagree, for me, Modi is wasting a golden opportunity .

Modiji is so busy ..he won't comment on Alwar, not on Kashmir, probably not on Kulbhushan ..but his Govt which promised minimum government and maximum governance is busy with these kind of policies https://twitter.com/CNNnews18/status/851789081801568256
