The poor farmers are indeed having a very tough time Onion price that farmers are getting is Rs 2 per kg. I the market it is selling at 25 per kg. The farmers in Indore have started disposing onions on the roads as protest and perhaps to cut down the supply. all this just as the govt is busy celebrating 2 years of glorious rule. earlier the govt in the capital had celebrated its one year reign by pages and pages of achievements in all the dailies when the capital had no money to pay salary to its employees. when people cannot make two ends meet they see no other option but to take the way out by suiciding.

As much as i said that taking ones own life is extremely difficult.. i do maintain that in case of farmers.. one may never know if some death brokers are marketing the deaths of the farmers for political gains after abetting them into that direction,... and possibly exploiting their already sorry state further... i do feel sad for these farmers.. one one end we boast a high gdp and sending space shuttles and one the other we have people dying of hunger, and frustration.. we are a really screwed up country to say the least!

From day 1 of our school we're just told to complete high school, bachelor's and masters, get a job in MNC, settle in life and continue the cycle again with our children. We are not made to think beyond that. There isn't any creativity, the risk taking guts, the innovative minds in us which we need for the progress of this country. Even if we have (count the left 20%) they are ignored, ridiculed or moreso forced to go out of this country to make a living for themselves/ their family since here they would be restricted by quota, reservations, undeserved wages.

Until this whole cycle/ system doesn't get a makeover, I don't think India will progress any sooner. Though its developing but its at the speed of a snail. And we don't want it that slow, its already 68 years passed since our freedom. :/

100 percent agreed.
Syllabus kills creativity.
We do not have guts to face challenges and leave them unsolved.
True.

I see the middleman is reaping all the profits as usual.
With larger farms dominating the future of smaller farms is quite bleak and worst is when bad times hit them they are completely wiped out ! With mounting debts life does seem not worth living indeed...

wouldnt it be better to try some other job instead of killing themselves?
