Human Rights and the UN a joke?

Mr Tradd a representative of Saudi Arabia to head the UN Human Rights Panel.
This happens soon after Saudis posted an advertisement for eight executioners. It is reported to have already carried out 45 beheadings in 2015. Its record happens to be one of the worst in terms on religious freedom and women's rights. Very recently it called back one of its officials from India to spare him facing charges of sexual abuse, physical assault, slavery and pimping of several maids from Nepal.

Has the definition or standards of human rights undergone a sudden change?
Should we expect the standards of Saudi arabia to get emulated in other countries now?
How is it that the Saudis manage to get away with it everytime?
Does the UN have any vestige of credibility left?
Is it all about business deals and nothing else?
😕

A sick joke if you ask me. Classic "fox guarding the henhouse" situation.

But you should be astonished only when something is NOT f'ked up in this world, and not the other way round. The former is the rule, the latter is the exception.

Sorry state of affairs. Any theories as to why it is so?

Jesuit Pope Francis is going to canonize devil incarnate himself-Junipero Serra.
Junpero Serra Ferrer converted more than 110,000 Native Americans to Christianity by brutal methods, Particularly adept at sawing limbs of the natives, he was immortalised in the English language with the "serrated" saw bearing his name.

Then again, he was just another in the line of "hero" Columbus and blanket Christianity.

Today. he's a saint. This is the sorry state of affairs. War is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength.

Yes, entropy! It is a measure of how close a system is to equilibrium. Usually higher entropy indicates more "disorder" in the system and lower entropy indicates more "order" in the system. Natural processes supposedly proceed in the direction that increases the entropy (disorder) of a system.

It is easier to break an egg (translation: easier to introduce more disorder into a system) than put it back together (translation: introduce more order into a system) That's how it works.

My theory is that, all that is orderly is considered "good" by us and all that is disorderly is considered "bad" by us. My "theory" is that it is easier to be "bad" than to be "good" because the former takes less energy to get disorderly really fast while the latter takes more energy to get orderly if at all.

P.S: This theory may or may not have anything to do with 'bad' entities gaining more power as implied in your topic. I just threw it in there as my way of concurring with you.

P.P.S: I am looking into a ban / deactivation and towards that end am conversing with Aahaana. What that means is, I may not add any more value to your thread after this. I may be back next year or so depending on my then mood.

Now stop being dramatic and go with the flow 😆 There is not much one can do to change disorder / bad of a large system such as our world, unless ...❓

I suggest hibernation rather than deactivation. Sleep through the bleak cold and darkness. Awake when at the sight of spring, when the world is rejuvenated again.

Doesnt every system tend towards attaining equilibrium? In that case more energy ought to be spent in working against it than towards it. 🤔

Oh, that is exactly opposite of what I wrote above! 😕
Working against a system would take more energy -that much is clear. The question is are we inherently good or bad?

I get that 😛

Would that be suicide or santhara ? If you intend to reincarnate why bother?😛 You could stay away and join when its more covenient. I do that all the time 😊

Talk of being dramatic 😲 What would you call a post that ends with a suspense like
What is that ❓ supposed to mean? End of the world? Does that even count as a solution😕
What most would want is a happy peaceful world in harmony and not the END itself---or so I think.

If everyone decides to hibernate through the bleak phase hows it supposed to get rejuvenated?🤓

One groups hero could be a devil for the other but there should be no ambiguity about saintliness-- what say?

They have a list but do they have an action plan and if so where are the details of their action? What are they doing for humanity?

http://www.ohchr.org/EN/NewsEvents/Pages/DisplayNews.aspx?NewsID=16140&LangID=E

Once UN starts believing that they owe it to humanity that's the day people will start believing in UN, till then...
