The headline says it all. Why does Indian govt have a need to appeal to the naysayers.

The earth vibrates at Schumann frequency of 7.83 Hz and so does OM.

its a good move by the govt, yoga is good for physical fitness.
as for removing OM, other religions (esp muslims) may not be comfortable with it, hence the decision.

I don't understand what is the big deal.
Why some associate religion with it?

Can't they utter OM as just a sound?

Why should government drop reference to it? Those who want to say it, go ahead. Those who don't, leave it.

If they arenot comfortable then don't do it.

Why should others change things for them?

They need not do yoga. Why should yoga, which has been there since way before Islam came into existence, change to accommodate them? There are various other forms of exercise, they can choose whatever they are comfortable with or else they can create their own style of exercise.

This news is not correct. Yoga without aum is body without soul.

Here is the official site launch by Pm Modi for the International yoga day.

Aum chanting in yoga is not religious. One can always skip this part if they're uncomfortable. My gym yoga class with all non-Indians/Hindus happily chant Aum.

muslims eat, breath,live their religion.
if the govt would include OM, it would defo create controversy since the mullahs (even the common muslims) oppose anything and everything which goes against their religion, and this govt as it is, is termed hindutwavadi by a certain section of our population.
.
even our sikcular media and the likes of barkha, rajdeep, sagarika would protest, if our govt did otherwise.

So?

It doesn't mean people will change own traditional systems for them.

I am not a Hindu but have no problem with "Om" and if I don't want to do certain things, I myself keep away instead of telling others to change their whole traditional system.

Muslims shouldn't do things then which they feel go against their religion.

After all, no one asks them to change things to accommodate other communities!

Every person has right to preserve their traditional practices.

Instead of labelling others as Hindutvawadi, how about counter questioning others if they might be fanatics?

What else tomorrow? Change National song, National anthem, National symbols and Constitution also as per whims of each community?

Actually religion and faith IMO are matters of heart.
Your soul.

Chanting om or any other outer action can't undermine faith.

Still if you have problem then don't do it. It's not that difficult.
