I have not read the book or the film and many people are talking about the film now but before that a few of my friends were talking about the book and when they were saying 50 shades of grey I had no idea it was 50 ways to have sex, I thought it was a personality book like measuring your mood what personality you have, that's how interested I was with what they were saying but when the film came out is when I realised or its a sex book then and therefore its about abuse on a woman and she wants to feel these things.

In the UK there is a famous song by Annie Lennox "Sweet dreams are made of this, I've travelled around the world and some of them want to abuse you and some of them want to be abused" ...and this got me thinking about western and eastern culture, its true we always say in our eastern culture a wife that is taking abuse from her husband and giving excuses for him, they seem to be accepting this life of abuse, I don't matter, as long as everything else is fine at home, kids have everything I need, even him my abuser everything is fine for him. We can say she wants the abuse, because to unsettle the home and make her kids and husband unhappy for her self esteem is alien and wrong for her, so she is happy being abused and her abuser happy.

I will hazard a guess into western culture now and say the book is about people who want to feel something new I think the people that want to be abused in sexual encounters are over curious sort of people that want to feel what its like to be strangled by your boyfriend, when having sex, or dress up like a baby and have a woman breastfeed them, be spanked by a woman or man, tied up and have their freedoms taken from them and not know what will happen next just for the hell of it, it makes them feel something new in life and maybe feel alive.

Now i'm saying all these things because I've thought why are they doing these things, but it doesn't mean I will do that, the risks are too high, life is too good to be risking yourself in strangulation etc, I don't know if I could be a dominatrix maybe I don't know...lol.

The answer to your question is it right to promote Fifty Shades of Grey in any part of the world, I think sex sells, a lot of people are flocking to see Ekta Kapoor film Love, Sex and Dokha remember too many people were interested, what about the Dirty Picture same, Ragini MMS all the Sunny Leone films made in Bollywood are hits, we see in India a lot of films even right now on India Forums Radhika Apte's Hunter she has an article saying the same, so filmmakers knowing sex sells in India, they can try to make these films for that market but I feel with the rape problems there, it was right not to show, the minds of the people committing the rapes might in their skewed way think all women want this abuse in sexual encounters with men, but they already think that anyway that's why they are raping, but better not to encourage them. I am not interested to see the film even though it was shown here in my country, but I'm in the minority I have no doubt the film is a success because the majority of people want to see this film. Maybe as the risks to hand over power of yourself to man is so risky you live through this fantasy only in a film is the reason maybe.

Fifty Shades of Grey is a tricky subject. It is not black or white, but many shades of grey (pun intended).

BDSM is neither abusive or rape. BDSM is just something certain people enjoy. I have absolutely no problem with BDSM or kinky BDSM fantasy literature. I'm perfectly fine with erotica or po*n in general too.

The problem with FSOG is that even the BDSM community dislikes it. BDSM is a very consensual sex act. People engage in it consensually. There are established safe words and rules to stop if things go too far. It is frowned upon to coerce someone to engage in BDSM or take advantage of their love.

Problem is that FSOG promotes an unhealthy BDSM relationship as romantic. There is rape fantasy literature and po*n, but it is marketed as rape fantasy and not romance. There is kinky BDSM literature and po*n, but marketed as kink and not romance. If fifty shades was not marketed as a romance or love story I'd be fine with it.

I don't agree with censorship. I don't see why adults who have a good grip on reality and fantasy should be deprived of their choice to enjoy literature or cinema as they please. I think the problem has mostly been with sheltered people who have very little awareness of BDSM culture, and sex in general. If sex and sexuality were not such a taboo, people would be more exposed and wiser.

So are you ok with marital rape based on bdsm fantasy enactment .. just to get a read on the feminine outrage from that other thread...on marital rape...

It depends what you consider a fantasy, it's been an elusive idea, suggesting both an escape from reality and an expression of hidden desire. In many cultural around the world, fantasy works like a mirror, It reflects who we are, but it also shapes what we become!

The real question is what you fantasize about may not be right, is it now?

once you talk of things like BDSM ... we have left the discussion of right and wrong far behind...it might seem erotic.as a liberal idea. but can end up being violent...!!

i read the books and i watched the film!!
So what? i.watched ragini mms etc etc...this doesnt change my character at all.
Im all in my senses after doing all this!
Fsog cant promote rape or whatever..rape is a long time issue in our society!
If people needed to abuse their daughters/wives or women there wouldnt specially need fsog/bdsm to do it!
And if people are copying the bdsm from fsog it simply means they are not sane!
A sexual intercourse takes place with the consent of two people! They know what it takes if they do it right!

one more thing- fsog movie isnt the only thing degrading women's status...all around the world there are worst issues women need to face.

probably its just the mindset of people that should be changed...if western people werent there..women in india would still be stuck behind their husbands..lying for them/dying for their sins etc etc..

Student charged with rape 'claims he was re-creating Fifty Shades'

A 19-year old student arrested on sexual assault charges against a fellow student has allegedly claimed that he was re-enacting scenes from the film Fifty Shades of Grey.

Mohammad Hossain, a first-year student at the University of Illinois-Chicago, invited the woman back to his dormitory room on Saturday and told her to strip for him. He then allegedly tied her to the bed using belts and covered her mouth with a necktie.

When the woman asked him to stop Hossain allegedly hit her several times and continued the assault, DNA Info reported Assistant State Attorney Sarah Karr as saying. When his roommate tried to enter the room Hossain held it shut. After the alleged victim was allowed to leave she contacted campus police, DNA Info said.

Hossain claims to have got the idea from the sadomasochism-heavy Fifty Shades of Grey film, which has just been released.

The bio-nuclear engineering student has been banned from the UIC campus and charged with one count of aggravated criminal sexual assault.
