If viewers were really sane enough would they be idolising the "actors" the way they do? Maykom played by Priyanka in the movie makes her earn much more than the real MaryKom.

Since the actor is glorified it appears as if all the acts they do on reel is also glorified by the public and hence acceptable. When the storyline does not depict the actors suffering any ill efftect or getting into conflict with the law inspite of all the eve teasing , bank heists , taking the law into own hands , it creates the impression of acceptability of those actions. If the posts on IF are any indication it is clear that most of the fans cannot tolerate any thing said or held against their idols and so would be expected to emulate them in real life. Mindless etertainment can sometimes have far reaching unexpected effects.

That is soo true.
I agree, the government has to take the steps from it's own side, but the society as well have to be more realistic. But it can be said that because there are people who lose grip on reality, the government must take the initiative it can in it's ability to educate, warn the people.
Also, issuing such statutory warning is so convenient, is very cost-effective through movies which has nationwide audience, thus the govt has identified it's only way to spread awareness...with no cost constraints.
Likewise, movies and serials should be made with a sense of social responsibility.
FINE, they are all showing realities.. but there is no need to show unnecessary love-making scenes or unnecessary and mindless fights/violence - esp, the ones where cars and people fly away etc.
Pakistani serials are sooo full of sanity, maturity, even the actors have that sense of social responsibilty. The couples in serials never even touch each other, but the romance - nuances in their expressions, etc simply makes one melt. Very matured you know... watching those serials made me realise, physical intimacy is absolutely un-necessary in movies!

Some of the Pakistani serials being telecast these days are real good. The actors must have the ability to emote for such roles. It is a welcome chjange from some of the pelvic thrusts of bollywood 😆

Putting a warning in a movie is like closing the hoop house after the fox has got the chickens. It is pointless and doesn't serve a purpose. If a person is incapable of distinguishing between fantasy and reality, no amount of warning is going to change that. If a person is already drinking or smoking, no amount of warning is going to make them stop. The damage is actually done well before a person sees a movie. These warnings in movies are just a way for the government to pretend that they are doing a great job when actually they are doing jack shit.

Most bad habits are picked up from peers at a young age. Preventing bad habits starts at a young age. What we really need is an education system that raises young people who are less likely to make mistakes.

- Plenty of sports and extracurricular activities to engage young people in a positive way and protect them from loitering with bad individuals

- Smaller class sizes so teachers can pay better attention to students and proactively identify students falling behind

- Trained professional counselors at each school to talk to students about several serious issues in a manner that is relatable and understandable to kids and teens

- Healthy sex education

In the end smoking and drinking are personal choices. Individuals have freedom to do as they choose. What we need is

- Strict laws preventing sale of alcohol and tobacco to minors and frequent busts

- Laws prohibiting smoking in public places to protect people from second hand smoke

- Laws requiring bars to cut off people when they are getting too drunk

- Give tax breaks to bars and clubs to organize their own safe ride program to prevent drunk driving

- Cost effective rehab programs so people can get over their addictions

- Destigmatizing addiction so people are willing to admit their problem and get help

- Better health care so people can get prophylactics and screenings regularly at a low cost

No, I don't think it's working. Maybe the government should try something like make it mandatory for school to have a program that teaches preteens (like in 5th grade to 6th) that drugs in general(cigarettes, alcohol, medicine) are meant to be abused. And also about the addictive effects of it. But there is only so much that the government can do.

are you watching too, Zorro 😃 ..what serials have you watched?
I'm crazy obsessed with Pakistani serials ❤️ ..the way they portray culture, tradition, relationships, human psychology, the DIRECTION, the acting, the simplicity in costumes and settings, the screen-play...everything looks like real-life...plus those beautiful OSTs... those serials are ❤️

Pakistani serials ?.. are they telecasted on Indian Channels ?..or just Pakistani channels?..which channels? 😆 ..i am curious to know how they portray things..i guess i ll have to subscribe to these channels since i never came across such serials even while changing the channels, although i dont even watch any Indian sereils , so there is a good chance that i might have missed it..but from whats written here in the above quoted posts, they seem very similar to Indian culture ( but may be not the loud costumes & fictionalized settings used in Indian daily soaps )

@ bold..i disagree..i mean its about time that we snap out of our victorianized mentality that needs to gloss over the raw reality..and in that, Bollywood still has a long way to go ..

yeah, a new channel - Zindagi Channel ⭐️ .. I've been watching on youtube ever since I was introduced to Zindagi channel :D
Quixote, not ALLL Pak serials are THAT excellent, I'd recommend you to watch Zindagi Gulzar Hai first :P ...it'll change your opnion on many things trust me!
It's not just costumes, or settings, it's the very story, the DIRECTION, the ACTING, the pace with which the stories move, the way values and traditions are portrayed, the realistic portrayal of life. There'll be not an ounce of idiocrasy/bullshit at all. Personally, I find them to be inspiring too, every episode makes you think and reflect on life, puts in some valuable message... i learnt a lot from the serials I watched... dunno if it'd apply to everyone.
@bold --- victorianized?! nahh man, more Elizabethenised 😳 lol
Quixote - note that I just said it is 'un-necessary'. I do not condemn it, neither am I affected by it... but I do think it's 'un-necessary'. I am for portrayal of chemistry between woman and man without the physical intimacy ALSO. Intimacy between a couple is always jumped to, them jumping into a bed - a lot of chemistry happens before and after that too. Geez, WTH am I talking on here, anyways... hope you get my point 😆
I personally find the chemistry without either touching one another veryyy romantic, the nuances of expressions, exchanges, "looks", small talks, or just holding hands and walking etc to be tooo romantic ❤️ THIS apect of love is shown rarely in hollywood(there are some yet negligible) and bollywood movies.. and it is THIS aspect that ACTUALLY matters in real life...
Watching an old veteran couple walk together hand-in-hand is definitely 1000 times more romantic than a scene of nuptial night...according to me atleast, and I believe it is the former that is actually valuable. Every couple has a nuptial night, whats the big deal.
I have been indifferent to the idea of showing two people slobbering on each other's faces :P ..
Anyways, for me, because romance is such-and-such, I feel the physical part is un-necessary... but, I am not saying they should be done away with.. because some others find physical intimacy romantic, maybe I will too.. And, yes, I agree. It is part of love.
It was more about the idea of romance, my personal idea and also about putting in more other little finer delicate aspects of love.
I hope I am not providing you a post that is blurring my personal opinions with the non-personal ones...and you've got much to read :P

Also those below 21, caught smoking or drinking should to locked up.
I hope in future all smoking is completely banned like drugs and offenders jailed or sent for rehab.
