After putting statutory warnings over smoking scenes, the Censor Board has now introduced anti-drinking warnings in scenes where actors are depicted consuming alcohol. Is that a move in the right direction? Yes/No- Why? What is your opinion?

I think it's more about the state that is demonstrating itself as a responsible state.
Whether people really pay heed to it or not, the government ought to do what it's ought to. It is the responsibilty of the state to educate the people..lead them in a positive direction, discourage hings bad for it's people, and issuing statutory warnings is nothing wrong. The state's playing it's part.
Plus, showing something like a superstar smoking and consuming alcohol is sometimes emulated by teens, sounds silly, but there is some truth in it... the government does whatever it can and whereever it can to issue warnings...nothing wrong, not causing the viewer any loss by the display of that simple sentence.
Now dont ask why state isnt banning the sale of cigars... that's again a different complicated issue altogether 😆

people may not read the warnings if put at the beginning or after the film and will defeat the purpose. I agree that it can act as a spoilsport but perhaps that's the idea, To stop the impressionable viewers from getting mesmerized by the scenes they watch.

All the same most people go with the intention of having a good time at the movies and not to get preached. So in a way these warnings while a scene is going on may not be considered paisa vasool by the viewers🤔

Just like censoring sex scenes won't stop people from having sex, similarly these ads won't be effective.

Drinking is a personal issue. Their money, their health and their choice.
Same applies to smoking.

For some reason the censorship in movies these days makes me so angry that I feel the need to pour myself a stiff one, have some mindless sex and the relax smoking a cigar. Is that the intention?

On a serious note, movies are fictional fantasies. There are many unrealistic and even dangerous things in movies. Imagine how annoying it would be if we had to list a warning for each and every one of them.

On another note how about warnings such as

- Please do not stalk women, it is against the law no matter how much you love her

- Please do not touch or kiss women without their permission, this works only for Bollywood heroes in masala flicks

IDK why but... 🤣 .. but really makes me think
What should the govt do then, RTH? Stop these warnings? 😆
I think.. it's because alcohol and cigars have become a threat to public health. 😛 ..but STD's are also a very big nagging issue, esp AIDs in India.. hmm...

@ bold- Many viewers do not seem to realise this simple fact. . They get all dreamy eyed and want to imitate the actors be it their hairstyle, clothes, behaviour. Since the actor is glorified it appears as if all the acts they do on reel is also glorified by the public and hence acceptable. When the storyline does not depict the actors suffering any ill efftect or getting into conflict with the law inspite of all the eve teasing , bank heists , taking the law into own hands , it creates the impression of acceptability of those actions. If the posts on IF are any indication it is clear that most of the fans cannot tolerate any thing said or held against their idols and so would be expected to emulate them in real life. Mindless etertainment can sometimes have far reaching unexpected effects.
