Wow, nice debate. I actualy read 17 pages of this! 😳😳

Well, i think Minnie di, buffie and Vazz said it all.

Mods are not necessary right all the time. They are afterall humans and make mistakes like any one else. But how most mods differ from some some members is that when they realise they have made a mistake, they go back apologise and make amends. We see members attacking each other so often, no one goes to apologise. Mods, on the other hand do when they realise they have made a mistake!

As u said Buffie, it might be hard to approach somone u dont know very well. I hav been in the situation once or twice, but taking the gamble helps. MOST of the team and quite approachable. U can't say all are, but most will try their level best to help u out in any situation.

I rmb when i was getting too many PMs due to one post on the KYPH section, i Pmed Jassu di and action was taken immediately. She edited the post immediately. Earlier, people used to confuse me with dinky21, and used o get 'are u iq's gf' PMs. So, i Pmed then mod - rakshoo di and she helped me out. I got to know her then as well. So, if u ever approach them, i guess most will try to help u in a way or another.

Most of our dev team on IF do their best for IF and are really good.

Here, what is considered is whatever the steps taken, are they in compliance with what IF has laid down......and then steps are taken to set things right. If members say that we don't want a member posting a topic ( say the topic is valid - member xyz has posted about 'neuclear energy resource use' topic in Debate Mansion ) but she is being rude to whoever goes against her view, then we don't close the topic, we warn her to behave. Here no matter how many want that topic to be closed because she is behaving badly, the topic remains, and she gets warned. Normally, such a member starts behaving after the first serious warning. We have a system of warning which is hidden from the rest of the members. At first we warn in mild form, either by pm, or by posting right on the forum telling what's wrong in the post. Then,if she does not heed, we start raising warning meter, right upto 80%,and then we ban. Banning normally is the last option.

thanx again for ur patience and would compliment you on ur mature writing...BOY! after reading you i feel i am so kiddish...but the fact is i am older then you..😆

PS: i firmly believe that Mods should not count on how many days or how many hours they dedicate to the issues but should analyze how efficiently they did it/ can do it..( to cross check they should keep visiting ground zero😆😆)

Errr...while doing so....can you also confirm if they have a membership of 200K...and if so,whether everyone makes this kind of effort for free...and have to deal with such problems everyday, every hour..........😉...😆 Just kidding.....

Though it's a fact that when India Forums was a forum of 10,000 members (it seems eons back),it was very very different, and we often connected to everyone far more than we do now........

Yes, you being new could explain a lot of confusion that you have; As I said, every outfit has different criteria and different ways to deal with a problem. At any given point of time, perhaps the solution suggested was the best, because no matter which way taken,it would have left quite a large number of people unhappy...so if it was not you, then someone else would have been expressing their unhappiness and imply we were unprofessional....

Minnie, that is the key point. All of your services are voluntary and nobody is getting paid to solve others' issues, but a lot of time is being spend in understanding different opinions. In a deadlock situation there can be different solutions on different kinds of forums, but like you said, every forum has already a set of guidelines and that will help you come out of the deadlock situations. If not, that means its time for new policies to be made. But is a fact that when a decision is made, not all parties will be happy, but that we would need to take that with a grain of salt and move on.

I think this is the best place on the forum to be in. Some good thoughts and intellegent discussions. I agree with Ritz.
