Jewelry has more to it than the value you seem to allude to it. Jewelry made of gold , platinum, diamond and other precious stones are valuable but as observed the fascination extends beyond the value attached to it for there exists an equal craze if not more for the other not so precious accessory jewelry as well. The intricate designs , color combinations , the setting and cut of the stones and the metals, the craftsmanship involved is bound to draw the admiration and fascination of any person with some aesthetic sense 😛 Logic has no place where beauty is concerned. Each piece of jewelry has its own beauty and not necessarily admired, bought or worn to enhance one's own beauty and neither is it meant as a show off! Why is it so difficult to accept that a thing can be fascinating simply for its own beauty without any ulterior motive? 😛

Why spend so much money on it? Well the money spent is for what it is worth to the buyer. Havent you heard the adage that a thing of beauty is a joy forever. A jewelry is a piece of art and the joy it can bring is worth the money spent and not the thought whether its gonna make the wearer better looking! We cannot see ourselves except in a mirror anyway so how one appears to others should be of lesser concern IMO 😆 Most men would hardly notice the jewelry anyway so let us clear any existing myth if at all that it is meant to attract them . Girls are the ones who would usually notice and admire the jewelry worn and it could be the starting point of conversations ranging from anecdotes , local markets, movies, history, world economics...you name it !

Hope I was able to allay some of your confusions Mr. Fox 😆

I think people will buy gold, particularly ladies buy gold n treat it as an ornament n not investment,...but most of them know that at any time of the day and any day gold can literally be converted to cash...and banks would give you a jewellery loans ...but these days gold price is falling...as a investor, now a days am more interested n buying Lands, cos land price always increase ...😊

Yup...Irony of a woman – she spends hours putting on makeup, exotic perfume, expensive jewellery and outfit but when people(esply men) finally look at her the first thing they say, "Wow nice a$$"😛😆

So you do agree that women's time, money and efforts are not directed towards those afflicted with the Horses with Blinkers syndrome 😆

thanks everyone. i guess its one of those thing which does not have any logic behind it. as i said to me it does not enhance anyone's beauty and there are number of other things one can do to get joys. still its their choice if they want to spent money and effort on jewelry. i dont mind. lol.

That is generalizing. There are plenty of women that are not crazy for jewelry.. I don't myself care much for the yellow metal. I prefer platinum or silver. Platinum, because, it is not so common and the designs are rather simple. Silver, becuase its comparatively inexpensive.

I don't however judge anyone else that has a fetish for jewelry. How you want to "embellish" yourself is a personal choice. Some people like tattoos! Have you wondered why? Some have jewelry on their eyebrows, lips and even tongue! Same can be said of people that buy "art" and so on...

And for all those that argue that they buy jewelry as a means to investment, I have to say that they are all betting on the idea that the craze for jewelry will never ebb and the only reason one can hope to cash in someday is because someone out there is crazy for it; more than you are!

No I dont want to wonder why people have tattoos. lol.
There are always exceptions. However it is safe to say that ladies in general are fascinated with jewelry. I wanted to get to mindset behind it because to me it does not enhance their looks or anything. However as Angie said there is no logical reason behind it.

Contemporary jewelries may be worn to complete an outfit or as a style statement. I don't think cynical outlook that women like glitters to feed their vanity holds true in all cases. It can be a way to express oneself and can reflect a personality just like the clothes or hair styles. Personally I am not a fan of chunky adornments. Though I love my barely visible diamond studs and do feel drawn to gemstones specially sapphires and emeralds. Some jewelries just holds a sentimental value as they can well embody some memories associated with them. I also personally do not believe in jewelry as an investment.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Objection is act of opposing right? So lets say if you have tattoos and then I oppose and say remove tattoo then I will be objecting. Here I am expressing my views about jewelry and other stuff like tattoo. In case of jewelry I wondered the reason behind its use so there I did not show dislike. However tattoo I dont like because it looks odd. Hope this clarifies.
@ arcoiris. thanks
