Jewelry.
Ladies: I have seen that they have fascination with jewelry. You go to any apparel store and women are all over the jewelry section. From back home I have seen their craziness over gold. Then someone said diamonds are girls best friend. I mean why do we value such metals or whatever they are? Who cares? If you aint good looking it wont make you look good. If you are good looking it wont make look you better. Why spend so much money on that? I have asked this question to family ladies and they say why are you fascinated with gadgets?

I dont see that logic. Gadgets are useful and recreation. Jewelry is show off. Who are you trying to show off too? Who are you trying to impress? Are you trying to show I am rich?
Gents: Then you see men wearing jewelry, tops, chains, rings. I hate it. I cannot tolerate anything except watch. Even that I dont wear. I never understood that as well.
Debate: I guess the debating point here is why have we made these things valuable? Just yesterday there was news that someone in Pakistan wore a watch worth 4 million. It had meteroid stone. I mean what the heck is that? Have we gone mad?
Please shed some light. This fox is confused.

one mans foolishness is another mans income. We need foolish/over materialistic people to expend vast financial resources on trivial things like watches or handbags or even high level luxury cars. These generate income for businesses etc. treat it as a natural force by god to keep things in balance. eg, gay people were born in this world to reduce overpopulation.

@ fantasy of every girl
r u sure? I mean maybe there is a handsome person hidden in him but in his current state i dont think any girl will consider him or fantasize about him. it will take 3-4 times as much time to fantasize about him. i mean movie will have more frames so more time. lol.
imagine bappi romancing with a girl and both singing songs and running in a park. suddenly bappi flips and falls over the girl. lol.
my friend - u r not familiar with royal ways i guess. see you can use gold to make something more valuable. now what will u use to make gold more valuable? this is royalty.
@LP. I like big cars i.e. bus. lol.

Come on now , u never judge a book by its cover , rather the content . and i see a lotta gold , um , i mean striking personality .⭐️

see thats it , Bappi isnt in a situation to run . so he will never fall on the girl . if he ever does ... Love of gold endures all .

@LP. I like big cars i.e. bus. lol.

on a serious note , gold provides financial backing . but yes , that aakhon ki chaka chaund , fascination u say is mindless ! maybe u should blame bappi , for tempting us into his treacherous traps of beauty .😆

I discussed this with my mom once: "What's up with Gold- why buy so much of it? You don't even wear it"
And my mom had a really weird reasoning behind it, and I'm not too sure if that can be applied to everyone.

Essentially my parents are always looking at Gold Prices and buying biscuits or gold jewelry (Bangles, rings, chains etc) Mainly for women, but my dad buys a ring every now and then. Nothing artificial, but actual gold and occasionally some diamonds.

The Reason: Security, and for the future.

Security: In times of financial emergency, recession or personal hardship they believe in having a resivor or savings which will stay relatively stable. They think Gold is that one commodity. Whether they're right or wrong, I'm not too sure but that's their reasoning.
Future: Having 2 daughters to be wed, and one daughter-in-law coming in, they think that buying up jewelry now is best in terms of gifting the items to their daughter's (my sister and Myself) on their weddings and to their daughter-in-law (when my brother gets married) as well as any potential inlaws.

I think there reasons are fine enough, for other people it might have to do with affluence, wealth, power...or lack of taste (some people really need to understand the concept of "less is more")

As for artificial or costume jewelry I think it simply ties in the outfit together- accessories are a girl's best friend!

Interesting input all. Yes Gold is security.
My point however was more about jewelry. I dont get the mindset why one wears it. Its not needed. its not like clothes which one wears from diffrent reasons. Yet ladies go after it. Maybe its about seeing others and therefore doing the same. Maybe its about showing one is well to do.
I say this because I dont think wearing jewels can make anyone look bettter.

Ah ha!

In this case, I seriously think it's one of two things:
1. A Representation of Class structure, Affluence and Power
2. Fashion- meaning something that is conditioned by Media and a multi billion dollar fashion and beauty industry: It's just like asking why so many women wear make up when it isn't a necessity like clothing, or why people wear a certain brand when it isn't a necessity: It's simple- marketing and conditioning.

Personally, I only wear jewelry when going out (that has more to do with me losing it than anything else), I usually always have earrings on but that's because bear ear holes look odd LOL!

It's simply a matter of tastes: "stylish" clothing, make up, jewelery it's all something that's conditioned into female's and seen by many as "enhancing" one's natural assets. Is it a load of BS? Yeah, it is, because at the end of the day it's a commodity that the business needs to promote and sell in order to make some money 😆
