Racism is everywhere! There are stand up comedians who make racists joke all the time, and people take that in good humour, find it quite funny. I guess, it can only be laughed about to a certain extent.
i was watching a documentary show where the statistics reveled that the Police were 28 times more likely to stop a black guy and search him, in comparison to say a white guy. Here is the link, for interested ones
The question to ask here is why is this the case? Is racial profiling because of a reason? are black more likely to be involved in crime hence the greater the security check? Or because West is predominately inhabited by the white people, which makes them feel superior to other race and ethnic backgrounds?
Take India for example, White people in India are rigged/targeted and white or NRI consumers end up paying higher price for everything, and yeah that is maybe not exactly a racist attack, however it is still discrimination, and living in 21st Century there are certain things that don't change, but become better. Racism has become better in time, in comparison to the past.. in the days before Nelson Mandela took a stand against racism, whoever thought a black guy Barack Obama will ever have the power to rule a country? So yes things have definitely become better since the days where a black had to give up his seat to a white person, to a black now ruling a country but there will always be racism and stereotyping regardless of how advanced we have become, there always be some people lagging and such allegations will always be made.
I am tired of comments such as ' All Muslims are terrorist/ Islam is the religion of terror ' or ' All blacks are poor or dangerous. We talk about becoming modernised et al., but i can name you very fine folks who are the first to bark racist comments or consider themselves superior to others because of their experiences, and those people reside on the forum itself and the world is full of them.
PS a very famous quote, i have been brought up hearing and was the moral of my school was be the change you want to be, If you want this racism to stop then stop targeting other ethnicity yourself and embrace the change that regardless of colour, race, background, education we are all human at the end of the day, and nobody is superior or inferior to anyone, regardless if you are a billionaire or someone living in the slum, treat all with equal respect.
