It is kind of like herd mentality. Just because everyone thinks its important to live we do. No one has an effing clue why.

I believe life becomes what you make of it. Hence - the importance of living differs from person to person. The same way a few may see importance in dying. With that being said, only the ones that see importance in life would convince others the same, while ones that don't, wouldn't. It all comes down to an individual's take on life.

I don't have a scientific or an astronomical answer for the above that your post initiates though just some scattered thoughts.

As for the bigger picture - I wouldn't say we're significant to this Universe, our life or death in no way has/or would halt Earth's rotation.
