Miss Universe is coming up July 23 from Los Angeles this summer.

Who is your favorite for the crown? Do you appreciate beauty pageants or are against them?

Here is my favorite candidate:

Miss Colombia:

She is sooo gorgeous!!!!!!😳

Do u wish me to give ur name in the contest monica? 😳 Well if u were one of the contestants... i would have done that!! (if i were the judge 😳 )

Hmm.. beauty pageants..Well to b honest i don't know that under wht objective beauty pageants r organized.. i mean just to provide any good looking face for film industry like Hollywood,Bollywood? Or giving the fashion world a new face? Or something else... I mean wht is the prime objective to do that..? (no offence at all.. im just trying to ask a general question)

But i appreciate the one thing... if the choosen model does social work..its good. Even if she gets the contract of millions of dollars as a modelling assignment..The WHOLE..YES THE WHOLE money goes to the charitable organizations...or the UN.....And that's the point where im happy 😳

The model is gorgeous Monica!, I find it difficult how all the participants talk things that are so goody goody? if they do social work even for a year( i think only the winners do that is part of contract) then it is good. Beauty with a cause is good and beauty with brains and compassion is a deadly combo

its like a talent hunt according to me. here they try to get the best model in the world. they becum super models for different companies. it just so happens that in india, either go for bollywood or remain a model. beauty pageants r quite similar to sports, why have them? its a job for the participants n entertainment for us. after that one year, it depends on the crowned lady what she wants to do in life or whats her next goal. if u see, sum participants take part as the sponsers are ready to pay for their further education, like those who r ambitious n want to becum doctors, lawyers.

another topic i want to draw is the fact that becoz of immigration n all. the participant has stronge features from her origins, n not from the country she is representing. i feel good wen there are more indian origins on the platform, beocz even if the other country wins, i feel happy becoz its indian beauty.

LoL Hey thanks!!!😆I have a dream of being in Miss Universe one day😳!!

As for your question, Every Miss Universe or Miss World does not become a model or an actress. Mpule Kwelagobe, Miss Universe 1999, before Lara Dutta, is working extensively in her country (Botswana) to help with the AIDS epidemic and is working hard for better hospitals. I do believe she also models now and then, but even after 7 years after her Miss Universe title she is still working hard to make others life better. There are so many beauty queens that haven't chosen showbiz as a career, but those who are now in showbiz also did something during her reign to help others. And I think being in a pageant is a great way to be noticed, instead of doing other "icky" things to please the directors🤢. And the Miss Universe and Miss World system are pretty strict when it comes to communication with judges nowadays, so you know the contestants haven't done anything with the judges to have the pageant go in their favor. One or two years ago, a judge was disqualified after having a brief conversation with a few contestants.

Anyways, Pageants are fun to be in and it can also be a great learning experience. Diana Hayden and Yukta Mookhey, two Miss World's from India haven't become mainstream actresses, so Bollywood/Hollywood wasn't their main concern.

Shes quite pretty Monica.

Well..Im not really against the beauty pageants..but Im not on their side either. Its awesome seeing someone from your country representing you in beauty. But then again..when you watch the pageants on tv..most young teenage girls say "Why couldnt I be like that" sometimes watching the pageants are amuzing but on the other hand..its a bad influence on young girls that find themselves not pretty or out of shape.

Overall..the pageants are quite nice to watch.

That could be true, but these girls you see on tv are given so many beauty classes and training. They weren't born drop-dead gorgeous. This year Femina Miss India showed all the training the girls endured for acheiving the title. And also, since when have beauty pageant winners have had the same cookie cutter look? They come from many countries in every single color, shape, height, and religion. If a girl is confident and takes good care of her diet and body, knows proper skin-care, and knows what style of clothes, hair and makeup (if she wears any) look good, then no girl should be intimidated watching these girls on tv. Many countries that participate in Miss Universe and World have even banned plastic surgery from the pageants, and girls with a lot of plastic surgery are totally banned. Even Miss America discourages plastic surgery, and allows padding on swimsuits to discourage implants.

Also, the contestants you see on tv are given fitness trainers, nutritionists, speaking coaches, and stylists months before they go on television to compete.

Pageants are fun, and maybe you might think the contestants are very beautiful, but they had to work hard as Miss Femina Miss India had shown.

Beauty comes in Many diverse looks.😃😳
