You think so? 😃 Because he'd be besotted with her and wonder what earth-shattering event brought her to him in the first place? 😛😃 lol
((I'm inclined to agree with you))

But being in a relationship with someone who is similar to you is kind of difficult too :-D Do you guys agree? Do you think that there should be some amount of difference in personality for two people to be compatible with each other or two similar people make a better pair? :D

It was purely hypothetical 😃 just a silly exaggerated example that popped into my mind first. I know it wasn't the best to get a point across. Apologies! 😊 I should've been more realistic haha

Well, too much of anything is not good. If you're too different, you'll find yourself drifting away from your partner after a while due to lack of anything in common to talk about. If you're too similar, you'll probably clash or find your relationship becoming too boring. A good mix of similarities and differences is key in making a relationship interesting and lasting.

For example (a real life one this time), my boyfriend and I are both mechanical engineers, both PhD students right now in the same university with very similar interests. We're both huge Android fans, we love Formula 1, love Top Gear, love cars (though he likes BMW and I'm a Merc fan), enjoy romantic comedies and we both coincidentally speak German fluently (though neither of us is German). Despite these similarities the biggest difference is our culture. I'm Indian, he's Australian. I'm easy going and a bit lax with rules, he's a strict law abiding citizen. I'm spontaneous, he's a meticulous planner. I'm a bit of an airhead sometimes, he's sharp and smart. And of course there are more. But the point is, the similarities give us something to talk about, to laugh about... we connect brilliantly on an intellectual level. We have very different sense of humours but we still understand one another. The differences make life very interesting. My spontaneity ensures that we never have a dull moment in life and his cautious nature keeps me in check when I'm about to do something over the top or when I'm about to have a foot-in-the-mouth moment (which I do anyway).

So yes, it's important to have a good mix of similarities and differences. Otherwise we tend to swing erratically from one extreme (boredom) to another (loneliness).

Opposites might attract but their relationship will not be the happiest one. Studies show that those who have most in common will have a happy relationship.

Depends on person to person. I don't think opposites really attract. I can never be happy or can adjust with someone who is totally opposite of me. It might work for some people but not for me!

haha interesting topic or should I say, interesting replies! :P

from experience (if I may say so), I believe opposites attract. No two similar (interests and hobbies) human beings will remain too happy in the long run. Yes, it might seem peaceful, but will profoundly be boring at some time. Maybe so boring you'd wanna pull each others' hair out.

That being said, no two TOTALLY opposite persons can be together for too long. Someone with a diverse interest and hobby, however with similar morals and an intellect can possibly walk the road for quite a while!

Opposites may attract but can they maintain their attraction? Initially any person who is totally different than you seems interesting and refreshing. But after a while you start complaining why do they do things differently than you. Why don't they do it your way. And then they don't seem as attractive as before.
