Right now lets discuss abortion as the crime and what its punishment should be. Thats relevant here.

You are a charming mix of emotion and reasons I must say. 😆

As I said - I don't know what punishments can be used, and this is an extremely weird case to be honest. What punishments were used for premarital sex and likes when they were not legalized in the west? Where such "crimes" ever punished?

Yeah sure.

I was wondering since the section where they talked about cyber crimes didn't mention that controversial opinions expressed on internet forums is also a cyber crime. And I doubt they'll ever include such cases unless freedom of speech itself is revoked or the definition drastically changed.

Out of all the things listed in that website, the only criteria that matches is that out of the plaintiff and the accused, atleast one party should be located in US (assuming that you are indeed located in US).

If someone thinks that punishing a rapist won't rectify their nature but a hormone therapy can successfully change him, then he has the right to state it. People may agree or disagree but no one has the authority to censor that. Neither will he be prosecuted as threatened more than once over here because posting on the internet is also protected under free speech.

POH, may I know, for all your social awareness and moral sensitivity, what caused you to like that ignorant post? Bangladesh might be free of the menace I referred to, but how are you sure about India?

The "most" was not to say that most of the senior students commit the crime -- in fact, as in other cases, the criminals are in the minority, but organized -- but in most institutes of education in India where new students have to share the hostel premises with seniors, this kind of brutal, sadistic 'merrymaking' is organized ritualistically. They do it as if it is their right and hunt in groups; and that makes it more repulsive and more damaging to the self-esteem of the victim than covert rapes, as far as I'm concerned.

Almost all my friends, cousins and other acquaintances who have stayed in college/university hostels/dormitories in India, have gone through this horror at different levels and in different ways.

I posted it earlier:

There are debates 'whether' it's OK or wrong, and there are those who try to justify it, unlike the easily recognizable form of rape; and that's downright nasty!

Googly, I can't remember ever "liking" that post you are talking about (that post has no substance in it to begin with; it is just a one-liner question repeating what Cloddy asked a post back); I might have clicked it by mistake (I should go and check it) - which I know comes off as pretty strange, even to me. I usually don't "like" posts until I find them well-written. Whether I agree with it or not is of second importance, but it has to be well thought-out. I don't think BD is free of the menace you are talking about. What makes BD much different from India? I haven't experienced life in India first hand, but from my knowledge, they almost share the same culture and all.

Can you fix the format of your post? I was kinda confused whether you were talking to me or not at first; if it weren't for the colored font, I might have not even noticed, since I was just shuffling through pages right now.

I am not sure why so much importance is being given to the "likes" (which many members press without even reading the whole post, and I myself have been guilty of the same practice at times - like liking a post after reading a few paragraphs of it). It's better to get to know about ones opinion from his/her posts - written words, that reflects his thoughts - rather than from what he is "liking" around. I guess most of us have been pretty clear on our stances from the very beginning, and it is self-evident in our posts. We don't need to clarify our stances as it is pretty clear for everyone to see from our posts.

Well, there are classic offenders and then there are virtual offenders. It's not up to me to pour through every single message of your defendant. My case will have an opening statement and if someone is wrongfully accused then they could counter sue me. From what I know, they will see if the nature of conduct is situational or chronic, progression of activity is gradual or immediate, if the dialogue is explicit or disguised and if their post-offensive moves are remorseful or not.

I am not sure how you interpret what you interpret. I don't think I care and neither should you, in how I do it. But since this is DM, I could shed a little light on how I do it.

The sentence, "The man who is committing rape perhaps has more hormones than those moral people who manage to live with one woman for their whole life thinking that they are moral" to me is how a virtual offender would first mockingly decry the ones who are not committing rapes and who are loyal and faithful to their spouses. That would be your defendant's opening line.

The sentence "A man(women) with more hormones will need more women(men)... so will be the case with a woman.... It is not a question of morality, it is a question of biology" is justification towards rape, bad grammar notwithstanding.

The sentence "A man who commits rape needs all our sympathy, needs a certain operation in which his extra hormones are removed, and he will cool down, calm down." is how your defendant would like to plead guilty after the act is committed but note that the defense was being readied even before the act is committed.

The sentence "To punish him is simply an exercise in stupidity" would be the defendant's closing statement.

I am not a behavioral analysis expert; I would leave that to the professionals. But sounds like, the defendant has a weak case, free speech not withstanding.

Like I said, I might not have much going in favor of me. But that's not going to deter me in pursuing what I believe in. I appreciate the education in the first amendment, but unless your defendant(s) show remorse, I am pressing forward.

It is almost the same as in the past... mad people were beaten to cure their madness... people who were schizophrenic, who were thought to be possessed by ghosts, were beaten almost to death - this was thought to be the treatment. Millions of people have died because of your great treatments....
Napoleon Bonaparte, Ivan the Terrible, Nadirshah, Genghis Khan, Tamerlane are all massscale criminals. Bt their crimes are so big, that perhaps you cannot conceive.... They have killed millions of people, burned millions of people alive, but they are not thought of as criminals. And a small pickpocket, who takes away a 10 rupee or doller note from your pocket will be punished by the court....
I strongly believe there is nobody in the world who is a criminal... everybody is sick, and needs sympathy and a scientific cure, and most of your crimes will disappear......!😊

Man hangs self

By By Elena Chong, Court Correspondent

A WOMAN was stabbed to death by her ex-husband who subsequently committed suicide while waiting to be tried, a coroner's court heard.

A joint inquiry was held on Wednesday into the deaths of Madam Wei Hong, 41, and her former husband from China, Yu Qiangguo, 45, an assistant supervisor.

Madam Wei, who was self-emplpoyed and managed a shop at People's Park Centre, died from multiple stab wounds on June 26 last year.

Married to Yu in April 1991, the couple have a son, Yu Wei, now 17. She divorced him in 2006 - four years after she and her son came to Singapore. She did not even reveal to him where they lived here.

In April last year, Yu came to Singapore to work and to search for his family. When he found them, he tried to persuade Madam Wei to reconcile with him but was rejected. Instead, Madam Wei insisted that he return to China.

Yu suspected his ex-wife of being unfaithful to him and planned to kill her.

He took two knives with him on June 26 and when he saw her about to leave the flat, he pushed her into the unit and stabbed her in her tenants' room.

Yu was charged with her murder the next day. He was remanded in Changi Prison awaiting a preliminary inquiry when he hanged himself in the toilet area of his cell on Sept 20. His three cellmates were asleep then.

Yu, the court heard, had suicidal tendencies and was placed on special watch.

State Coroner Victor Yeo recorded a verdict of murder by Yu on Madam Wei's death. He recorded a verdict of suicide on Yu's hanging.

All know the fact that world has been ruled by man, still ruling, woman has suffered immensely....She has not been able to fit with the society that man has created becos the society is created according to reason and logic.... the woman wants a world of the heart. In the society created by man there is no place for heart......If we make our relationship a learning phenomenon of experiencing the other person, not just a superficial sexual relationship, bt something deep, intimate, learning of each other's mysteries ..if someone fail to understand these things, may be his/her mental state make them do like this acts..😊

Firstly I cannot understand how a prisoner is allowed to hang himself when there is surveillance.
But I have not much sympathy for the Hubby for taking matters into his own hand.
Lady ran away from hubby in China and we must admire her for being able to raise and look after her kid all the way in a foreign land. Unfortunately her dream ended.
Very sad😭
