I think so long as one is respectful of another person's religion and beliefs they are all welcome to the party.

Exactly, why give importance to such temples by going in there. Most of these temples are only interested in making money, they allow certain rich people who donate lot of (black) money to them. The day these rich people will stop donating loads of money to them, they will let all sorts of people come in to get their money šŸ˜›

Makes one wonder about the purpose and sanctity that one associates with such places of worship !

Absolutely atrocious behavior! I didn't except such mistreatment of foreigners, who have come to learn more about my country and explore the heritage and culture of India, to be treated like this.🤢 I have been to many churches in Europe, and learned a lot about their architecture, but I was never asked to leave or anything. Also, the reason for taking him to the police is completely not justified, it's not like he broke any guidelines. Of course, he will leave India with a bad image in his mind, and will tell people about such mistreatment, which will in turn lead to a bad image of India abroad, which is already quite tarnished because of illiteracy and poverty. After reading about such incidents, I wouldn't completely blame them.Shame on the people!šŸ‘ŽšŸ¼

Non-Hindus are barred from temples? I never knew this!šŸ˜•šŸ˜² That's really atrocious, as Hinduism is welcoming and loving to all religions and people regardless of caste, race, or religion. It's an insult to Hinduism, actually.
In the place where I live, everyone is welcome to the temples and I often see many Christians visiting and commenting on how at peace and calm they feel at a temple. It's really nice to see all sorts of people at religious places, because it truly feels like we're accepting everyone.😊 I feel proud to be a Hindu at such times.
I think all religious places should accept everyone, even mosques and churches. I think churches do though, because I went to a Catholic school for the majority of my education and I went to all the required school masses in the Church. They had no problem with me coming and not taking communion with everyone else, and simply enjoying the mass and the meaning behind the preaching.

In my opinion all religious places should be open to anyone. I think that would increase our knowledge and respect for each other.

I'm Muslim and a bit strict too however I've visited many different and beautiful churches here in Europe. I have even visited a Hare Krishna temple which was very beautiful and the surrounding was breathtaking.
When I was younger and went to school I used to invite my classmates and teachers to our local mosque. Most of them were non-muslims but that was never an issue. Also we at our mosque use to invite people from different religions for healthy discussions and religious tolerance. Every now and then the women at our mosque use to request women of other religions to come to us. I remember how we once had a Catholic, a Jewish, a couple of people from Hare Krishna and a couple of us Muslims sitting at the same table talking and eating. That was very interesting and I learnt a lot that day.

A temple (esp temples like the Jagannath) is no one's private property, everyone should be allowed in!

Wow wow wow....So much for no entry of a foreigner šŸ˜†
Well if he went without seeking permission of the trust, then serves him right. It is our sacred place sfterall. We all have temples in our house and still most of us keep it sacred. I remember my grandparenst will not allow outsiders to that area and not even in the kitchen.
Ye sit is private property but to maintain it and to set the rules is the person's responsibility who are maintaining it.
So what if they do it for money only, which profession is not after money ??
how can they maintain the place that is visited y so many people...plus who knows who might come their with what idea.
God is everywhere so why complain. The visitor was not going to pay his respect, he was merely going as a visitor. We have every right to protect the rules set by the goverence body.
I see nothing wrong. The guy was shown way out and not killed as would have been done by some other religion followers.
More over Hindus do not convince anyone to convert them self so do not need any outsiders. Where as other religions they always try to get people to adopt their relion and hence welcome all.
If some one really wants to visit a temple, they can go to any other. There are hundreds of them which allows anyone.
Why go to the one whic protects itself with certain rules?????????????????????????
Let the temple trust decide or people objecting try to become trustee and bring changes :) :)
