1. Bheeshm winning the swyamwar and then kidnapping all three sisters to be married off to Vichitravirya
2. Karn trying to win Draupadi for his friend Duryodhan after Duryodhan was unable to even lift the dhanush.
Another point to ponder --- If Amba was in love with Shalve, why did she agree to be part of the swyamwar? She should have known that she will be given to anyone who wins her in the swyamwar. The swyamver was different in this case as the three princesses were allowed to choose whoever that's why Amba agreed and was going to put her jaimala on Shalve Naresh...
Bheeshm did send her back to Shalve who refused her. How come she did not request Vichitravirya to marry her upon getting rejected by Shalve? Why did she request Bheeshm who could not marry given his oath? She argued that despite his oath he should have known the concequences of his actions.. Therefore he should be the one who accept her as he was the one who kidnapped her..
Keeping these points in mind --- can we blame Bhishm for Amba's plight? I think not. Hope Lola reads this analysis.
Thanks for the input, SRD. Your welcome😳

Oh & I somehow thot Shakuni was angry because Bheeshma had chosen Gandhari for his blind nephew & not Pandu. Its because Dhritirastra was blind that Pandu got chosen as king though being younger. Thereby gandhari's children lost their chance as heir to the throne.

I concur with SanRaj's answers. To add to what's been said, Bheeshm made it clear that he was not there at the swayamvar for himself but he was there representing Vichitravirya. The Kurus, being a very powerful clan, had a legitimate beef because they were not invited to the Swayamvar. Bheeshm didn't kidnap or abduct the princesses. He politely asks them to go with him to Hastinapur. The ones who come in the way were defeated, including Shalva Naresh (twice!).

Amba's anger was misplaced. It was Shalva Naresh who didn't want to marry her, after she was sent back by Bheeshm. She should have gone after him. Instead she chooses to pick the battle with, none other than, Ganga Putr. Bechara Vichitravirya was ready to marry her too; only that Amba spills the beans about her past love story and mucks it all up.

Amba (as Amba and as Shikhandi) doesn't get any respect from anybody including Krishna. I loved the dialogue that was written between Krishna and Shikhandi when the latter goes to visit him just before Krishna leaves Virat to Hastinapur as Shanti doot.

So, Bhishm should not be blamed for Amba's anger. Looks like you agree with me too.
Why was Vichitravirya not invited for the swayamwar? Any idea?

May be Gandhari was mangali. No idea what was up with that ritual and why would Dhritrashtra get so mad at Gandhari's family after hearing about it.
As far as sacrificing - people still sacrifice goats to make Ma Kali happy. Not that I endorse that. Just an fyi.

I have heard this too and I always wonder why did Shakuni not stop that marriage. What is the point of staying angry and ruining your sister's home? It's not like his devious plans were ratified by Gandhari. Gandhari accepted Dhritrashtra and was a model bahu and a pious lady. Despite the jealous nature of her husband and elder son, she always kept her cool and advised them to change their thinking. She was not very happy with Shakuni staying in her sasural and destroying Duryodhan.
There has to be more than just Gandhari getting married to Dhritrashtra for Shakuni to act the way he acted. Thus, the legend makes more sense. I am not sure though whether the legend is part of the original MB or not.

If Sarala Mahabharat interests you then try googling for 'Bhil Mahabharata' or "Bheel Mahabharata". 😉

Scandolous! 😆
Sarla MB focuses more on female jealousy and how it shaped the events of MB. Bheel MB appears to be a totally different ball game! Just got done reading the Draupadi and Vasuki part😲😆
