I think you're referring to Christianity here (because in Hinduism, priests are allowed to marry). If I'm not wrong, I think Christianity forbids nuns and priests from marrying because it views sex as defiling a person's purity. Assuming that no one has sex before marriage, Christianity only allows people unmarried to become nuns or priests. Also, nuns have to cover their heads in order to ward off temptation from men, because it is believed by Christians that one who is in service to God must not participate in any sexual activity, and by tempting man, you are also tempting the devil and therefore, yourself.
Sorry if I wrote anything wrong. I took several Christianity courses when I was in school so I'm basing this off of what I learned.

Correction:
Christian pastors or priests can marry and take income from the Church. They are pretty well paid here in Singapore.
Only Monks and nuns do not marry.
In Thailand some Buddhists live like monks for a certain period and then go back to normal life.
These days several monks carry money and drive a Mercedes, also seen them eating in expensive restaurants ( once in a while I do not mind but some are regulars and live like Kings). some even own properties and do business. Makes a mockery of monks.

Really? In the US, lots of priests came to lecture in our religion classes and said it was forbidden for them to marry.

Further clarification - regarding Christianity

Catholic and Orthodox churches forbid their Priests from marrying. Protestant priests and ministers are allowed to marry. In fact many Protestant sects like the Southern Baptists will say that Catholicism is separate from Christianity.

Priests, ministers, vicars, fathers - these are preachers. That is they hold sermon and preach the gospel.

Monks and nuns are difference. These are people who have chosen the monastic way of life, which usually includes ascetism and chastity. While chastity is usually the norm in monastic lifestyle, there are denominational variations that do not make chastity a necessity. Monks and nuns may teach in Bible school or assist the preachers, but they do not have the authority to hold sermon or preach gospel. Friars on the other hand are similar to monks but unlike being confined to a monastic order they practice ascetism and chastity within the people.

Chastity is prescribed by some spiritual beliefs because they believe that the soul should not be defiled by any of the sins, marriage and such relations result in lust which is considered sinful.

God needs no one. God has plenty of toys.

If everyone would find the light within, they would not need anyone else to light their path. People lack faith in themselves and depend on all sorts of preachers, doctrines, organizations to show them the way. When you fail to acknowledge the light within it extinguishes and thats why people get led into the darkness.

Practise many vary between different Christian denominations too. Catholic priests cannot marry but other Christian demonimations can marry like Protestants etc.
Some Christians do not refer to Catholics as Christians even. This is ridiculous.

God doesn't need anyone. On the contrary, we need Him, or at least I do.

People find different means of bringing themselves closer to God. Some of us do it through good deeds, other do it with prayer, and likewise, some choose to maintain their chastity. The destination is the same for everyone, it is the path that differs.
