I am watching this show as a piece of fiction so the whole show made sense to me until now! I hope they pull up their socks because if they continue like this the TRPS will dip further, or maybe showing MAAN BAI as a goddamn churael might make the TRP aunties come in! Let's see!

My issue is with the basic characterisation, Anarkali's character is not written properly and her behaviour comes across as weird or confusing at times, one doesn't know how she will react or how will she speak or how will she be in a scene, that thought is quite scary, one needs to have a proper character sketch, one should be well aware of a character so one knows how a certain character will react in a certain situation, but in her case I don't think even she knows! She comes accross as phoney in some scenes! Some of their recent loves scenes seem quite phoney, As for Salim, he is a well written character and his actions and reactions are gaugible, but I think the intensity that he had had has gone completely missing too! And I do think actors are responsible for this also! I don't think they tried to connect deeply with their characters! They are just going with the flow! I am glad Salim didn't doubt anar but the Salim I know would be far more angry with the thought of her being with someone else, which didn't come accross to me! The Anar that I know would be far more scared at being "caught by Salim but she didn't even seem to care much! The characterisation is going for a toss! The writing needs to get better! And presenting MAAN BAI as a vamp is so serialish!

Salim calls Anarkali Jaan e Salim. But in history, after Akbar rejected their love, Anarkali vanished, but Salim moved on. He got married, had kids, ruled the Mughal empire etc. In Romeo Juliet, once Romeo sees Juliet dead, he finds it hard to continue and so kills himself. If Anarkali was what he has been saying then Salim had to be something similar to Romeo and lose his life or at least his will to live. But Salim does nothing of the sort. That is where I made the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai reference. In that Rahul and Anjali are best friends before Tina came into the picture. In one of the scenes, Tina tells her father that she feels like she came between two friends, two lovers. In her last letter to her daughter, she reiterates the same thing saying that Rahul and Anjali were soulmates and she had intruded in that.

Romeo Juliet is a fiction tale may be Laila Majnu too

A real historical person cannot at like a book lover or even commoner lover

Salim was a prince that too crown prince going to be emperor

Lets imagine that anarkali is killed and salim kills himself what will happen?

His brothers Murad and Daniyal too are going to die before Akbar

Than who will take care the empire, Akbars 300 wives and his brothers wives and kids etc

The empire will disintegrate and Salims mother and sister in laws and neice and nephews will be either killed or made salves by whoever becomes next emperor even if hes realted to Akbar

Does salim want that to happen? NOOO if hes a good son and family guy

Salim is not commoner to think like a commoner lover and kill himself if his lover dies

Crores of mughal empire citizens, lakhs of mughal soldiers and thousands of his family future depends on him staying alive

Its tougher for Salim to lose love of his life and live fulfilling his duties as emperor and son and father and husband

And easier to die at one go and end his pain is it not?

even if that theory is correct, then the characterisation should change and that too gradually, here acting is the problem, especially yesterday, today was still better, alas I am not going to try and argue with fangirls, whatever! Salim and Anarkali is a fictional story and it is supposed to be intense and beautiful! And I am also blaming the haphazard writing just as much as the acting, I saw a bigger dip in Sonarika's performance though!

Sanar scenes are repeating again and again..so if we do the same thing again and again we tend to loose interest same happening with the actors too..the screen play is not that much good..always salim praising anar and staring each other,- how long they will do the same thing again and again..there should be some ups and downs in every relation and in life too but they are giving too much sugary dialogues for sanar😕

Here is the parallel is Mann Bai was his best friend before Anarkali. If Mann Bai was still in Agra, chances are Salim might not have taken to Anarkali as much as he did. He was surrounded by people who were trying to harm him, even kids(Daniyal and Murad) who were not genuine with him. Anarkali filled the place that Mann Bai had vacated.

Next thing is the version of Salim that fell in love with Anarkali. It was the angry young man, a soldier, who didn't consider himself as part of the royal family. One who rejected his place in that royal family. He was constantly shown to disregard everyone including Akbar and Jodha, reject every expectation. But as he has started to assimilate into his role as the royal prince, he is torn in his role. Anarkali expects the common man in him as he was when he first confessed his love. Salim too is trying to be that person with her. But unfortunately, the crown prince role in him is becoming dominate and taking over his personality. He no longer is just that soldier or angry young man who is with Anarkali. Hence we feel a sort of pretend love from his side.

Initially Anarkali knew her place, that she was the "kaneez". She played that part with conviction. As she started to fall more and more in love with Salim, she has started to buy into his dream of her becoming the "Mallika". She has started to feel herself as part of royal family, as one of them. The makers are using the gaudy makeup to show this belief of Anarkali. She cannot really be shown walking around with tons of jewelry as that would become too obvious for others, but makeup is like a mask. She considers herself equal to the royal family. In other words is trying to be someone who she is not. Whether we like it or not, the class difference played a huge role in those times. Mann Bai can order for things and jewels, but not Anarkali. She couldn't say "do you know who I am" to others.

I feel what they are showing is needed for the story to continue. They are trying to show that Anarkali was Salim's greatest infatuation and Mann Bai was his true love.

Salim loving anarakli has nothing to do with his angry image or him hating his family etc or him considering himself as commoner or commoners as equal. If you observe Salim he calls commoners with respect too like flower man he called bhaijaan and the seller at market he called chacha jaan etc Salim is not someone who will respect an human based on his designation or class in society he treats all humans with respect. we cannot expect that from any other royal be it Akbar, Jodha or Maan bai and never Ruqaiah and Hamida ever. Jodha tried to explain to Akbar that since as a kid he went to war field he does not act royal. But even Akbar went to war at age 11 he believes in class difference. Salim even leaves place for maids to go first before him or sometimes acknowledges gaurds bowing to him by greeting them. See how he loses hand fight to a banjara or so respectful to banjaras too. So thats his basic nature not because he hates family or went to war field early or because he loves anarkali etc see how he treats mahabhat like a brother or family hugging him, eating with him etc which prince shall do that with a commoner servant even friend

The issue here is with anarkali right from childhood shes not acting like a maids daughter or maid. She barges into Jodhas room as shes crying for Salim, she asks her things which no maid or maids daughter will speak. When Jodha's on hugner strike for Salim shes forcing her to come to palace its not normal commoner behaviour actually. Even 5 year old kid knows how to behave in front of emperor, minister or now with President/Prime Mininster until and unless he is not mentally unwell.

For sometime she acted kaneez but not long as soon as she loved salim she started acting bossy with him too. See how she refuses to look away from his eyes when he says even sun will look away when he stares. See how she disobeys him in many things its like 21st century girl friend than 15th century lover of a prince. Anarkali character is a put off and no sane viewer can think a maid although a lover of a prince shall behave so. In 21st century Salims position is like Prime Minister of a county which maid even lover shall behave so with a PM as she does with salim. Salim takes her haughy misbehaviour in stride as hes a childhood friend and hes a sensitive person who treats all equally many lovers would not. Forget lovers many husbands will not.

A TV actor that i liked once gave an advice to their young colleague:

if the scene isn't written good then make it good!

it is the actors' responsibility too, you cannot lose steam so easy! These scenes are cheesy, I agree, but these scenes can still be done better!

I agree with you if the scene isn't written good the actor will make it good but in dem-sa most of the sanar scenes are repeating again and again how can they make it good..though its watchable becos of actors how long they will make it good..screenplay should be interest and excite the actors then only they can perform well..i like the story and actors one thing that is lacking is the screen play there is no excitement to watch the show

If the actor is well versed with their character they can improvise, instead they are making the scene look even more dull, sonarika is overdoing her innocent face expressions and voice modulation too and it is coming accross as phoney! So I am sorry I cannot agree with you! Let's agree to disagree!
