Guys, i have one question. India still can go to super8. If bangla loose the match with bermuda. Am I right?
ye i fink so coz india hav got a higher run rate but bang losin agianst bermuda cum on 😆
India are on the verge of following Pakistan out of the World Cup after they slumped to a 69-run defeat against Sri Lanka.
The Indians, like Pakistan, had arrived in the Caribbean with huge hopes of lifting the trophy, however they now need the minnows of Bermuda to pull off one of the greatest World Cup shocks off all time to keep their hopes alive.
The islanders take on Bangladesh in their final group game and anything but a Bermudian victory will see India on the next flight home.
Even the most optimistic of India fans must now fear the worst, with Bermuda suffering heavy defeats in their two games so far.
And should India return home ahead of schedule, then they only have themselves to blame.
Their record-breaking display against Bermuda aside, India were outplayed by Bangladesh in their opening game while they slumped badly against Sri Lanka.
Having let Sri Lanka off the hook to post 254-6, India never looked like surpassing that total as they lost wickets a regular intervals to eventually be dismissed for 185.
India found themselves on 44-3 after just 12 overs as Robin Uthappa, Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar all fell in quick succession - with Chaminda Vaas taking two wickets and Dilhara Fernando bowling the 'little master'.
Virender Sehwag and captain Rahul Dravid attempted to rebuild the innings, however the introduction of Muttiah Muralitharan turned the game in Sri Lanka's favour.
Sehwag edged to slip after a 46-ball 48, while Mahendra Dhoni was trapped for a first-ball duck. Sandwiched in between was the wicket of Yuvraj Singh, who was comically run out attempting a quick single.
Ajit Agarkar threatened to frustrate the Sri Lanka's as he dug in alongside Dravid, only for Lasith Malinga to return to claim his seventh wicket of the tournament.
That left Dravid as India's lone hope with the bat, however having plundered 17 off one Malinga over to reach his half-century, he then holed out to Muralitharan on boundary off the bowling of Sanath Jayasuriya for 60.
Zaheer Khan followed soon after with the magician Muralitharan claiming his third wicket of the match and although the last pairing looked to frustrate the Sri Lankans, Tillakaratne Dilshan removed Munaf Patel to seal the win.
Earlier Sri Lanka had recovered from a shaky start to post 254-6, thanks largely to Upul Tharanga (64) and Chamara Silva (59).
Tharanga's six ODI half-century provided the platform after Jayasuriya, Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara all fell cheaply.
However, Silva then shared a fifth-wicket stand of 83 with Dilshan (38) to turn the innings around after Sri Lanka slipped to 133-4 after 33 overs.
Russell Arnold and Vaas then ended a quick flurry of runs late on to see Sri Lanka past the 250-mark
Zaheer was the pick of the Indian bowlers, taking 2-49 but it was not enough for his side.
ye so tru bang r neva gna lose aginst bermuda 😆
