Cricket Australia CEO, Nick Hockley, expressed concern on Friday regarding the on-field incident involving Virat Kohli and debutant Sam Konstas on the opening day of the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Hockley emphasized that physical contact has no place in the game of cricket.

If you watch the long shot replay, Kohli changed his trajectory whereas Sam didn't even seem to realise he was going to bump into Kohli. Definitely an intimidation tactic that backfired.

There is no need to act this way, Virat is an experienced cricketer and hold many records.

What is your view on this highly inflated incident??

Virat Kohli has been criticised in the Indian media for his aggressive mid-pitch collision with teen Aussie rookie Sam Konstas, with the incident branded unbecoming for a cricket great.

Is it intentional, or an accident? What are your views?!

It is a bullying tactic and I don't like bullies.

The kid showed more maturity and said, it is an on field incident and it should remain there. He neither tried to complain nor justify himself. Actions speak thousand words.

Now it is up to Virat to prove his worth with the bat.

Cheers..

He didn't even felt sorry for the incident. I just hope he shows some maturity on field now. This is not the first time he is in limelight for wrong reasons. He is agreesive and shows emotions on field we agree. Not everytime you can get away with that excuse. here we can clearly see VK is at fault.

Given Kohli’s stature and experience, such actions are disappointing. As a role model to many aspiring cricketers, maintaining composure and demonstrating sportsmanship is paramount. While cricket is a game of high emotions, it’s essential for senior players to set a positive example, especially when interacting with younger, less experienced players.

Kohli’s 20% match fee fine and the demerit point he received for his shoulder bump with Sam Konstas during the Boxing Day Test might appear lenient to some, but it’s essential to understand that the International Cricket Council (ICC) enforces specific penalties based on its Code of Conduct.

In this case, the punishment corresponds to a Level 1 offense, which covers inappropriate physical contact. By accepting the sanction without dispute, Kohli has acknowledged his actions and shown a willingness to move on.

Well said Vijay. The senior players should be an ideal type for younger players.

But, generally Australians display arrogance on the ground and all the visiting teams had difficulties once or twice because of certain arrogant players.

Kohli is a very emotional person who always has compassion for the game, he may have acted that way in the heat of the moment. However, the ideal way to showcase one's talent is to control one's emotions.

He should stop acting childish.

Happy about the bans and fee cuts to curb such incidents. Senior players should get 75% pay cuts as they earn more and need to be more responsible.
